Mauvember 2016

Bite Beauty Mauvember 2016 Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pinky plum with cooler undertones and a satin finish.

It’s a limited edition shade, where 100% of the proceeds of sales go toward men’s health. It appears to have sold out online, but it is supposed to be available in-stores in Canada (seems like online only for U.S., unsure whether they will restock or not). They released a shade like it last year (see review) in the Luminous Creme formula, which was cooler and purpler overall, whereas this year’s shade is a bit warmer in comparison (and is of the Amuse Bouche formula). The consistency was firm without being stiff, lightly creamy, and sat fairly well on the lips. It had excellent, full color coverage that lasted for six hours. I found the formula lightly hydrating overall.

Formula Overview

$26.00/0.15 oz. - $173.33 Per Ounce

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable.

The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamy with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They have a herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.

I adore this lipstick! Even though I greatly prefer Bite’s Luminous Creme formula over Amuse Bouche, I’m over the moon happy with the 2016 Mauvember. Such a lovely shade – very much a cool-toned mauve-y rose on my very pale, cool-leaning skin. I hope they will restock as I’d love to have a back-up. Even better – why not make this a permanent shade with a percentage of the price continuing to go towards this great cause. Everyone would win! Thanks for the great review, Christine. This looks gorgeous on you.

I’m glad you like this. And usually what looks good on you looks good on me. I missed it last year but this year was VIB Rouge so ordered it on sale. I love knowing some of my makeup dollars are going to a good cause, like this and MAC’s Viva Glam line.

This colour is amazing! I just wish they hadn’t changed formulas, because I can’t wear the Amuse Bouche lipsticks…I’m allergic to pomegranate and they give me blisters!

I hope I got this. It went out of stock very shortly after I checked out and I have a sneaking suspicion I might get an email with a refund, but I hope not because now that I see the swatch I’m very happy with the purchase. I do miss the old formula, though this one isn’t too bad.

I bought this shade online during the sephora 20% off sale. I’m still waiting for my package. BUT thank you for your review. It’s looks great! on you!

This feels like a warmer, slightly deeper stick-version of KVD’s Mother. I pass on Bite Beauty these days, but if I was still buying from them, this would be a definite pick. I love berry-leaning mauve tones — they work with so many different eyeshadow looks!

This looks fabulous and wearable. Prefer the depth to last year’s. None reached stores, right? Online only? Nonetheless, very pleased to see a shade dedicated to men’s health. At 100% of profits? Way to go, bite!

this did not look good on me color-wise.. i think the photo and swatch here makes it look really good on me but when i tried it in sephora with their weird ass lighting, just purple on my lips which i am not accustomed to.. It’s more purple than mauvy…

I bought this during the first day of the VIB sale and am very happy with it — I love these deep plums, but most have warm undertones and don’t look good on me at all. Christine, I love the way you pull off both warm- and cool-toned shades so well! I was pleased to snag one with cool undertones in a formula I love 🙂

I just got this and it’s really pretty! Any ideas for matching lip liner? (Is there a way to search for this in the swatch gallery? Just wondering! Love the site.)
