Bite Beauty Nori Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “deep brown-red.” It’s a muted, dark reddish-brown with warm undertones and a satin finish. This shade wore well for just over five hours and was neither hydrating nor drying while worn. Anastasia #6 (Vol. 1) (PiP, ) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty Jam Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “rich merlot.” It’s a muted, medium-dark berry plum with subtle, cool undertones and very, very fine shimmer. It had semi-opaque coverage with a noticeable translucency that gave it more of a stained-like appearance on the lips. The consistency had more slip and was lighter in feel as well. This shade wore for five and a half hours but left a strong berry-ish stain afterwards. I found the formula somewhat moisturizing over time. MAC Cordovan (DC, $21.00) is warmer (95% similar). Formula Overview
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable. All 34 shades are shimmer-free and vary being a soft satin finish to a natural finish (light shine but not glossy). The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamyu with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.
In comparison to the Luminous Creme formula: The level of color payoff and lemony scent are the two things that are similar, but they feel quite different on. If you have drier lips and need the intense hydration that the Luminous Creme formula offered, I don’t know if you’re going to like these. The Luminous Creme formula had a thicker consistency with a very creamy texture that glided on and never tugged at all, and the thicker consistency paired with the glossier finish was more forgiving on lips as it didn’t emphasize lines, natural texture, dryness, or flaking. Some had issues with the Luminous Creme formula bleeding/feathering and shorter-wear due to the amount of slip (high), and the Amuse Bouche formula has much, much less slip, so the wear is longer. I didn’t typically experience bleeding/feathering with the Luminous Creme formula, and that is also true with Amuse Bouche, but I would expect less with this more satin-finish formula for most (but not all). The scent seemed slightly stronger in the Amuse Bouche range, but it wasn’t noticeable after I was done applying the color.

Has anyone in a warmer climate experienced melting with the new formula? The older formula always melted in my purse and I live in the northeast US.
None for me, and it’s been 80-90s here… not that I’m out carrying them, but I had all 35 sitting on my doorstep for hours in 85+ degree heat.
Great. Going to Sephora tonight.
I LOVE Nori and Jam, can’t stop staring at them, but have lots of brown-reds and plums in my stash already. But I don’t have anything like Maple. I like how it’s not too orange, might be able to pull it off, will swatch in store
They are making me hungry, haha! 😉
Oh my… I looooove Jam! 🙂
It’s pretty!
Ooh, I like these! Shame they’re not available in the UK 🙁
Hopefully one day!
This is where my streets cross my aves, cross my roads. And you’d know it by my stash. For Maple, I have all the listed Nars dupes and Sandra, which is also close. For Nori, got 11, and Cognac and Deborah, which are close-ish. Jam, = Mulberry and Plum. Want to see rationalization at work? Well, not being a coral or pink person for l/s, I really ought to get something that is firmly within my comfort zone. Something that has proven to be useful and suitable. IDGAS that it is not springy. You can never have too many favorite l/s. And Bite has been good, plus you need to try the new formula. Sound familiar? How long ’til I cave? More rationalization: well, you have been a real makeup Scrooge so far this year… And I need any one of these like I need a few more yards of dysfunctional intestines. Well, Nori is just different enough…. see what I mean? It’s hopeless.
Haha, KJH! Maybe the finish is a bit different? I, too, often rationalize as you do — I want a good, go-to shade to try in a new formula (best hope for loving it).
Haha! That was good!
Bite Mulberry is one of my favorite lipsticks, I guess Jam will have to be my replacement. Is it as moisturizing as Mulberry do you think?
I think Mulberry was more moisturizing, personally 🙁
Wow, these look gorgeous. You really rock those darker lips!
Thank you, Alycia!
I love the look of these, especially Maple. My purse is happy that they aren’t readily available here in the UK! Still, I can admire from a distance and try to find a dupe in my collection. I’m bound to have something…I hope. We’ll see! ?
Here’s hoping you have a dupe, Gillian 😀
FYI – I discovered last night that MAC Dubonnet (Amplified formula) is an about 95+% dupe for Maple. Colour is dead-on the same, formula is very similar. I actually wore Maple on the left half of my lips and Dubonnet on the right. Went out, saw friends at least one of whom is also a beauty addict, and no-one noticed I had two different lipsticks on til I pointed it out. And even then it was very hard to tell. The line at the edge of my lips was a tiny bit crisper with the MAC one.
Used both with no primer, no liner. Only differences:
– Dubonnet is slightly more scented
– Maple is slightly more matte, but I just blotted Dubonnet on application and it looked the same
– Maple bled a tiny bit, whereas Dubonnet did not
– Maple stained slightly, whereas Dubonnet did not
So if you can get MAC Dubonnet, you’re super close to Maple.
Thank you so much Kitty! It sounds like a really good dupe. There’s a MAC counter five minutes from where I work so I should be able to get my hands on one soon! Thanks again for taking the time to let me know about Dubonnet, that was very kind of you. ?
I can’t take it anymore. I’ve read so many reviews on these lipsticks and I have to get a couple!!!! They look BEYOND amazing. Thanks for the great swatches!
Can’t wait for you to try some, Erin! Which shades are on your list?
Ooh.. they’re all so pretty. You know, I keep adding more to my list every time I view these lipsticks again. I originally didn’t feel like I needed Maple or Nori, but now both of them have been added to the list.
Sigh… why must Bite lippies draw me in? 😀
Thankfully, I don’t need Jam – I have 1 or 2 close enough dupes in my collection.
One down, surely you’ll be able to find a few close-enough-dupes in your stash for at least some of the others on the list 😉
All three colors are pretty — Jam is the one I’d like to try for myself 🙂
Jam is gorgeous!
These are ALL gorgeous looking shades! Nicely pigmented and not patchy. I probably either have dupes, or close shades, but Nori is calling to me regardless! Love those deep shades! ?
I like how even the darker shades have been doing well so far!
Of course, I dig Nori, but red browns do not play well with me. I love jam (and the name is so perfect) but I do have dupes.
Sounds like you may have found three to skip? Maybe? 😉
Omg! All three of these are beautiful!
They are!! 🙂
I’m really liking these shades. They’re a bit different.
They are! I’m glad Bite did some deeper shades in the range.
Yummy names, yummy shades! My fave here is Jam ?.
Haha! When I write the Bite reviews, I’m like, “When’s lunch?!”
Wow! Nori and TMI (blush) look fantastic together!
Thanks, Reka!
Yay! I’ve been waiting for these three to be reviewed! I got Maple already, but they all look great!
How are you liking Maple, Michelle? What blush do you wear with it?
I haven’t tried to pair a blush with it yet since I don’t wear blush much, my rosacea flushing/burning doesn’t always agree with it. Maple’s lovely, I’m happy it’s not real orangy or bright and has some good lasting power. I also picked up Rhubarb and I love that one too.
Just love the colours of these three lipsticks. They are definitely my kinds of colours and they look lovely on you Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve!
All of these are lovely. Jam is on my list to pick up. I have Plum but this feels a little glossier, so when I’m close to finishing it, I’ll be picking it up. Maple is the prettiest brick red. I think it’s more wearable than many other shades like it but I can’t put my finger on it. Less brown? Or just a more neutral brown undertone? As for Nori, it kind of reminds me of a slightly lighter warmer NARS Bette.
I think it might be that Maple is not too bright nor too deep/dark!
Out of the three I’d personally probably only wear Maple, but on you all three shades look beautiful!
Thank you!
Both Nori and Jam look fabulous. Yay for dark shades with even application!
It’s refreshing to see!
Which do you think is closer dupe for Kir Royale, Jam or Beetroot? I discovered Kir Royale much too late to buy more than one tube! In any event, I am excited to try the new formula.

Wow Christine!!! I thought Maple looked so pretty on you, but you can wear such a range of shades beautifully I wasn’t going to comment. Then I saw you in nori. Ohmyword it’s perfection on you. It’s like you went to the world’s best lipstick maker and that person custom made you a shade! If you ever have one of those times when you need a little extra boost or armor for a tough time better yet beautiful for a loving time….basically…just wear that shade! A lot! It really comes across as made for you. Perfection sister!
Aw, thank you, Bonnie! You are too sweet 🙂
