Bite Beauty Maple Agave Lip Mask Review, Photos, Swatches
Bite Beauty Maple Agave Lip Mask
Bite Beauty Maple Agave Lip Mask ($30.00 CAN for 0.52 fl. oz.) is described as a “bronze shine.” It’s a coppery-brown with lighter gold, pink, and copper shimmer. Dior Ambre Lumiere (227) (P, $29.50) is more shimmery. Bobbi Brown Pink Cocoa (P, $24.00) is lighter, more muted. Becca Papaya/Topaz (P, $24.00) is brighter, warmer. Revlon HD Amber (555) (P, $8.99) is lighter. Surratt Beauty Ensoleille (P, $32.00) is lighter. MAC Moon Beach (LE, $19.00) is lighter, cooler. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
This particular flavor/shade is exclusive to Canada, and it seems like it is permanent, but I’m not 100% sure (I did try to get information from Bite via Twitter but no luck). If you’re unfamiliar with Bite’s Agave Lip Mask formula, you can read my reviews on the: original, Champagne, and Smashed formulas. I’m a big fan of the Agave Lip Mask formula for its long-wearing, ultra-hydrating properties, as I can put it on before bed and still wake up with a sheer, but noticeable, layer of product. My lips always feel so much better after wearing this for a few hours if they’ve been through a swatch-a-thon. For me, it is more hydration than I need on a regular basis, but it is a go-to when I feel like my lips have been dried by a formula I’ve tested or need an extra pick-me-up. The formula seems very comparable to past versions, and after wearing this for a few nights, it’s been lovely and a real treat (especially as I’ve been testing a lot of liquid lipsticks lately!). It has a maple scent and a more generically sweet taste to me, but the maple is noticeable on but doesn’t overwhelm me–I just periodically notice I’m wearing it by scent. The texture is medium in weight and thickness, and it is a very tacky formula, though that is likely why it can wear so long.
P.S. — Big thanks to Julie over at Swatch & Review for helping me buy this! 🙂

So the nearest Canadian Sephora to me is a 14 hour, 3 minute drive with traffic. Not including border crossing. Worth it?
Okay, probably not just for the gloss, but maybe if you were on a vacation 🙂
Awww, too bad USA doesn’t get this one! For fall/winter, this would be perfect for my lips, although the maple scent will probably make me crave pancakes right before bedtime LOL Hmmm, wonder if they can come up with a chocolate flavored one…..
LOL! Chocolate… interesting!
this is exactly what I need now! I already use the original but don’t like the other colors. this color is what I want for daily wear.is it more pigmented than YSL tint in oil? thank you Christine!
I think so!
I’m dismayed to see that this is canada only as I love maple so much
I really love maple scented things, too 🙁
What’s the point in wearing a tinted product to bed? Haha!
For me, I was testing the formula and that’s really the only time I had to test something like this as I am pretty much full on testing all liquid lipsticks at the moment. I’m sorry!
Hmmm, I really do wish that I had a buddy living up in Canada that could hook me up with a tube of those yummy smelling lip pampering goodness!!! This stuff sounds wonderful!
The smell is so good 🙁
I looove the Agav lip mask. I bet this would be just as nice!
It has been! Very nice after all these liquid lipsticks, LOL!
I like the original one I have (I can’t say that I love it because it’s a little too tacky to wear during the day unless I’m staying home and reviving my lips…I still love Jack Black for daily use). I just never felt the need for the tinted versions of these. Clearly there is a market for them since they keep coming out with them. I just feel like it’s more of an overnight repair product than a lipgloss like the tinted ones seem to be marketed as.
When my lips are REALLY hurting, these are really nice because they hydrate so well but the tint can help camouflage uneven redness 🙂
I think I might just end up picking this up 🙂
You should try 😉
There is ACTUALLY maple syrup AND agave nectar in this. That’s hilarious to me for some reason–it’s like I’m examining a package of actual food. I really love the look of this but the flavor doesn’t sound desirable to me. If they make this available in the USA, I’m going to have to give it a shot.
It’s definitely very subtle – I don’t notice it too much!
I’m kind of obsessed with this. I love Bite’s lip mask formula and I love anything maple-flavoured, and the scent of this is phenomenal. An SA at my local Sephora told me that it will only be available until October. I’m planning to buy like five back-ups.:)
It is REALLY nice!
You know, I thought about passing on this because I’m not normally into sheer lip things, but these swatches/review may have changed my mind…may need to grab them while they’re available!
They’re nice if you have drier lips or find you need to give them a “rest” from lipstick/gloss but want a little color.
Well Oh Canada! You look so Maple-y delicious. I have to pick one of these up!
You do! 😀
This looks so good! I wish it were available in the States. I guess I’ll have to wait until I make a trip to Canada in a few months. Definitely going to track this down!
Hope you can snag one, Luis!
Nice! I want it!
It is very nice!
Omg I WANT this! It sounds like a lovely product and looks really nice on you! I especially like it with that eye look and those gorgeous earrings. 🙂
Is there any way for us in the U.S. To get ahold of it? I don’t like that whole exclusive to certain countries or stores thing. Why the heck do companies do that. So annoying.
You pretty much have to have someone buy it for you, I think 🙁
HA! Now you know how we Canadians feel when we can’t get our greedy little makeup loving mitts on so much stuff! But, y’know, we have a gorgeous country, we’ve a few really good Canadian makeup brands you could buy and try and the CDN dollar has tanked so your money goes really far! You could visit PEI or New Brunswick or Quebec City or ride the Agawa Canyon train….lots to do up here and a great time for a visit!
As much as patriotic me feels an obligation to get this, I already have the original and if I were to buy another one, I’d be far more likely to get Smashed. I wish this one had been the red of our amazing flag rather than this brownish shade, though I do get the whole “maple” thing but still….the leaf on our flag is a maple and it is a red that would be great with the maple flavour! And I’d buy it for sure! I mean, really – “the thistle, shamrock, rose entwine the MAPLE LEAF forever!” (sorry, just had to get that out there!)
They could have done maybe more of a coppery-brown? Then you’d get red and the brown one might think of with syrup.
Hah, I actually ordered most of the lipsticks (minus the one that’s the same as one of the Frozen Berries) to a friend’s house because I’m going to Canada in September — but I didn’t grab this and now I’m really hoping it’ll still be at Sephora when I’m there! ?
Nice 😀
Nice! I think I’ll put this one on my maybe list… because I don’t need it but I do kinda want it, lol.
lol!
That’s actually stunning on you! I love it!
Thank you, Erin!
Picked this up the morning it was released, haha. The maple scent is delicious, but not overpowering, and the colour is gorgeous! I was concerned it would be too brownish, but it’s actually a lovely bronzy-gold-y sheer and actually somehow gives my lips a very “natural”, pretty reddish colour when worn. Love this!
Woohoo!! The scent is just right — noticeable but overwhelming or super synthetic.
I really love the look of this. I love these masks and my lips drink them up.
It is a really pretty tint!
This is beautiful and you look so cute with your Canada pin! <3 Blessings to Julie for hooking you up! She helped me out, too! Cannot wait to get this!
So glad she could help you, too, Kristen!
