Bite Beauty Holiday 2017 Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip Set Review, Photos, Swatches
Holiday 2017
Bite Beauty Holiday 2017 Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip Set ($22.00 for 0.28 ofl. z.) contains four, miniature-sized liquid lipsticks from Bite. All four shades are available individually in the permanent line. The set’s versions felt consistent to me compared to the permanent versions, which I reviewed earlier this year when they initially debuted, so for the purposes of the review, I did not re-test for wear time but did go through things like pigmentation, texture, and so forth solely based on the set’s versions. I think it’s an excellent holiday set for someone in the market for Bite’s liquid lipstick–just do keep in mind that they are not a matte, dry-down kind of formula; they are liteally a liquid version of a traditional lipstick.
Value
A full-sized Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick retails for $24.00 and contains 0.25 fl. oz. or $96.00/oz. The set contains $26.88 worth of product.
Holiday 2017
LELimited Edition. $22.00.
Whip
Whip is a medium, peachy brown with warm undertones and a lightly glossy, cream finish. It was richly pigmented but a bit too emollient, so there was a bit more color in my lip lines than was ideal. I felt like the set’s version was a smidgen more pigmented, though it was just barely more pigmented (like 2%!). It wore well for four and a half hours on me and was moisturizing.

Formula Overview

The Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick is supposed to be "moisture-rich, high-pigment" in a "liquified" consistency that has a "creamy, comfortable application." It's a lightweight, fluid consistency that was neither runny nor thick on the lips. It does not dry down and feels mostly like a liquid-form of a lipstick (and not so much like a gloss). The majority of the range was incredibly pigmented and spread evenly across the lips. Some shades had a bit of color that sat in my lip lines, which was noticeable from a normal viewing distance with a few but not all. It had a lightly tacky feel on the lips, which helped to adhere as none of the shades I have tested have feathered on me. The formula was lightly hydrating, wore for four to seven hours, and had a light, herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste.
If you've been following Bite for awhile, you might remember the Cashmere Lip Creams from a few years ago, which were also a liquid formula. Unfortunately, I had a couple leak on me and ended up tossing all of them out of fear, so I couldn't do a true comparison, but from my memory, it was slightly thicker and less tacky while both had a more natural shine after initial application.

Demi-Glace
Demi-Glace is a muted, medium-dark plummy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a cream sheen. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and easy to work with on the lips. It was opaque in a single layer with just a touch of color that gathered in my deeper lip lines, though I did not feel I could tell from a normal viewing distance–only in the close-up photos. This shade lasted for five hours and was hydrating on me.

Braised
Braised is a medium-dark, plummy red with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had opaque coverage that went on evenly and smoothly across the lips. This was the best shade in the set, as it seemed to make my lips appear smoother and plumper. It wore well for six hours and was hydrating over time.

Flambé
Flambé is a bright, medium orange-red with warm undertones and a cream finish. It was nearly opaque in a single layer, though my lip freckle peeked through ever-so-slightly. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and just a touch tacky, but it went on fairly easily. I noticed a bit of color that gathered in my lip lines but couldn’t tell from a normal viewing distance between the shine and intensity of the hue. It wore well for five hours and was lightly moisturizing.

I’d say it’s a fairly good deal, with more emphasis on the word “fair”. Having tried a few shades on in-store, I like them. Except for how emollient they are. Almost scared that they’ll run! Still waiting for our local to carry Pare, though!
This set just screams holiday lol. I like it though! They’re all pretty shades that’ll work on different skin tones
Gosh – these are beautiful shades and so creamy looking.
I have the full-size of Éclair in this formula and I like it. I have purchased this set although I knew that Demi-Glace won’t flatter me. I like that they are emollient but I have to be careful with the application. As Christine mentioned, it’s easy to apply too much. I think because the formula is so creamy and a bit on the thick side, the applicator comes out very saturated. I had to wipe it off really well and apply a thin layer at the beginning (and reapply if necessary), otherwise I would feel it sitting on my lips. I have quite dry lips and I find that by applying this LL in a thin layer, the oils get completely absorbed into the lips, hydrating them to the point that I do not need a lip balm prior to the LL and leaving behind an almost dry finish.
Nice set!
Well, better try this with clear liner, since it bled like crazy on the back of my hand, but big yes to this selection of shades. Esp since the singleton did not do well. What’s an Xmas with no bite?
I wish there weren’t 2 red colors in here. If they came out with a neutral/pink set I would be all over it cause I want to try the formula but since I would only use half the set I’m going to have to pass.
Love this mini set and I definitely plan on picking one up. I just wish that they didn’t have two “red-ish” shades. They should have had a red and then a deeper vampy shade.
Oh! I wasn’t even thinking about getting this, but it looks like it would be a nice gift for one of my friends.
Hmm, I would love to try this formula for this price, but am on the fence because I have the Tom Ford dupes of two of the colors (Leonardo and Diego) and hardly ever wear them due to makeup overload and that I wearily wear reds. And I would probably get the most use at of Demi-Glace so why not just get that?
Good idea to just get one you’d use often if you won’t use the others in the set! The only alternative would if you needed stocking stuffers or mini gifts for others!
This is waiting in my buildings office for me along with the Sephora Lip set so I’m excited to play with them when I get home!
Nice selection of lipstick shades! I especially love the bright red and orange!
I got this set yesterday and I LOVE IT!! They are tiny but BiTE minis are however they are nice to try colors out before committing to large one. I have a full size in Marsala. Today I’m wearing Demi Glace and I am definitely purchasing the full size; perfect nude for me!
While the two redish colors look similar they really aren’t on me at least, Flambe is pretty bright and Braised – while it looks more bright on Temptalia – is really like a muted mauve on me.
Whip is the only color I will not wear, it’s going to my friend who gets my “can’t wears” from a set. Otherwise all are colors I would buy in full size though I may just get Dulce and Flambe.
I’m starting to think I might be better off with Demi-Glace in a full size.
