Bite Beauty Gold/Sour Cherry Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo
Bite Beauty Gold/Sour Cherry Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo/em>

Bite Beauty Gold/Sour Cherry Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo ($14.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a holiday party duo if I’ve seen one–a gold, glimmering top coat paired with a rich, ruby red. The richness of the Amuse Bouche formula can overwhelm the shimmer if applied directly from the tube (the shimmer was noticeable, but it appeared ruby in hue–but it did result in a gorgeous, ruby red slippers kind of effect), but I had better success patting it on over the red color with a fingertip to make the gold shimmer standout more.

Each of the Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duos includes one shimmery shade and one cream shade. The cream shade is part of the permanent range of Amuse Bouche lipsticks. Per the brand’s description, the shimmery shade is supposed to be a “foiled top coat,” though you can wear either shade on its own. I love that Bite has really affordable options during the holidays; I think these are a great way to try the brand’s Amuse Bouche formula, but they’re fitting with the holiday season in a fun, practical way. I had no issues with stability of the smaller-sized lipsticks when applying directly from the tube either, which can be an issue with minis.

Value

  • Amuse Bouche Lipstick: $26.00 for 0.15 oz. or $173.33/oz.

Gold seems to have a translucent base with a medium-level of lighter and darker gold shimmer. It used a finer pearl that wasn’t chunky in feel, but it had noticeable sparkle and caught the light well. The consistency had moderate slip, which helped the shimmer disperse evenly across the lips so it could easily be worn on its own, but the semi-sheer coverage made it work well for layering under or over another lip color. I found it most effective patted over another lip color with my fingertips. On its own, it lasted for four hours with a bit of transfer of shimmer outside the lip line (I didn’t have any issues with shimmer migration when I used it layered over Sour Cherry) and was lightly hydrating. Sour Cherry is a bold, bright, medium-dark red with cool, blue undertones and a cream finish. It had rich color payoff with a smooth, creamy consistency that applied easily and yielded even coverage in a single stroke. Rose Gold is a light-medium, rosy pink with warmer, yellow undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly, though it slightly emphasized my lip lines as some color settled there after an hour or so of wear. The color wore well for four hours and was lightly hydrating.

Yay, lots of gold pigments and lippies today for this little magpie 🙂 Hmmm, I have enough reds, just want the gold, but it’s like $14, and I know the tubes are very tiny since I have one of these. But then again, there aren’t a ton of gold lippies out there, and not all of them are A – rated either. And I’m not buying the $38 Dior one since it has fragrance, and I can’t finish it anyway. I can’t read the ingredients list because it’s on gold foil. Christine, does the BITE one have any scent/taste?

Oh, if the scent/taste is like the regular BITE lippies, I’m ok with that. Just don’t want any perfume or floral scent. Not sure if I should get the gold gloss or this, will put on my maybe list.

Lovely. Pinker reds are underrepresented in my overstash of reds, so def maybe. The gold is fine by itself or layered. Whatever old ones I might still have were very yellow. The metallic isn’t OTT. Nice. Maybe a go.

I got this 🙂 I have to credit it to you. I saw your swatch the other day and i said to myself it looks liked a fun one to try and it is. I love it. Pretty color, very comfortable to wear and not breaking the bank at all 🙂

I just got my order of this one and the Bronze/Pepper duo last night. I love both of them — each of the color pairings work particularly well together and they have a nice smooth feel on. I’m going to pick up the Fig/Rosegold combo too. Very fun for the holidays.

I’m surprised at how much I like this, too! Really pretty! I even think that the effects of the gold lipstick and the gold lipgloss are different enough to justify having both, at least if you’re really into it, although, if you already have Sour Cherry (I don’t, but the question is, why don’t I?, lol), just purchasing the gloss would probably make the most sense, I think 🙂

I have been collecting red lipsticks this year for some reason. I though I had found the IT one when I got my MAC liptensity in mulling spices. But then I got this duo in the mail….I literally said “whoa” out loud when I put it on. Although it looks fabulous on you Christine, I feel like no picture can do this justice. I will be getting a full size of sour cherry, and probably more amouse bouche formula lipsticks. Seriously awe struck.

To be honest, I expected this to rate a lot lower after seeing your sneak peek. Gold on its own didn’t seem to perform that well, and the metallic sheen isn’t that visible at least on camera. Sour Cherry is definitely beautiful and applies gorgeously, but it’s a very typical red.

That said, I do like this product in theory. Excited to see the other swatches from this release! Particularly interested in Opal/Jam.
