Anastasia Orchid, Electro, Potion Lip Glosses
Anastasia Orchid Lip Gloss ($16.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium lavender-purple with warm, pink undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff, while the gloss had enough thickness that it didn’t settle too much into lip lines, but it didn’t feel heavy. The biggest upside is how evenly the color applies, despite being lighter and quite pigmented. Make Up For Ever 500 Lilac (P, $19.00) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Dusty Lilac (-, $16.00) is lighter (80% similar). MAC Dilly Dazzle (P, $10.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). MAC Snuggle Up (LE, $20.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Anastasia Electro Lip Gloss ($16.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, magenta purple with cooler, iridescent blue and violet sparkle over a cream base. It had mostly opaque coverage that applied evenly and smoothly, while the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin. The color wore well for five hours on me while moisturizing my lips. MAC Girl About Town (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). NARS La Main Bleue (P, $26.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Milani Flashy (DC, $6.49) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Itchy & Scratchy & Sexy (LE, $21.00) is lighter (80% similar). MAC What's Going On (LE, $20.00) is lighter, brighter (80% similar). Estee Lauder Violet Rain (LE, $22.50) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Anastasia Potion Lip Gloss ($16.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is a deep, purpled burgundy with a cream finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly without settling too deeply into lip lines, but there’s room for improvement in the application. If you wore a lip primer or liner underneath, I think those issues would be resolved. The color wore well for four and a half hours on me and was hydrating. MAC With Gusto (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Anastasia Venom (-, $16.00) is more shimmery, brighter, warmer (90% similar). NARS Toy (P, $26.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Dark as Night (DC, $19.50) is more shimmery (95% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
FORMULA OVERVIEW | Anastasia Lip Gloss ($16.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is supposed to be “opaque” with “high-shine” that’s “non-drying.” It is one of the more pigmented lipglosses out there that has a smoother, more cushion-y consistency that typically spreads well across the lips. Some shades gather in lip lines, and some shades apply streaky; it seems more common with lighter shades and milkier colors. The formula is non-sticky initially and develops slight tackiness over time. My experience from wearing the formula is that they are often lightly to moderately hydrating and wear three to five hours. They have a vanilla scent that isn’t too overpowering nor does it linger once applied (I notice it mostly in the tube).

Electro reminds me of UD Firebird lipstick !
Oooh, I can see that!
It actually doesn’t look anything like Firebird in person. Firebird is more fuschia…Electro is alot more purple, at least on me.
But it is GORGEOUS!
I have Electro and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s my dream color.
It’s the perfect color, texture and wear-time.
I love it so much I actually bought 2 backups during the Macy’s sale-you can’t beat 50% off!
Nice, Gina! It is a really pretty shade 🙂
ugh you’re tempting me to get some ABH glosses even though that’s the last thing I need! 🙂
Awww!
Electro is my favorite!
That seems to be the fave 😉
Welcome to my wishlist, Electro! Enjoy your stay.
Haha! ;D
So glad I ordered Electro during the Macy’s sale. It looks GORG! It reminds me of my fave gloss from Mac, Date Night 🙂
Woohoo!
As is often the case these aren’t my shades but they look fab on you! Then again, what doesn’t, right.
Thank you!
Electro is gorgeous!
Agreed!
I love the two lighter shades! Even though I don’t have those two (yet ?), I did just get the summer lip gloss set, & I have to say that I’m super pleasantly surprised with the formula! I wasn’t expecting it to be as moisturizing & long-lasting as it is.
I know that you said they last about 5 hrs on you, but I’ve been wearing a light layer on my lips overnight instead of a balm, & it’s still there when I wake up 8hrs later!
The thing I love most is how they have buildable coverage. You can wear a little, or wear a lot!
? These lip glosses!
Happy to hear they are working so well for you, Cory! It is really a great formula – surprisingly long-wearing for something that isn’t super tacky!
Electro looks great on you. Just got mine today in the mail from that Macys sale!! Can’t wait
YAY!
Electro is gorgeous! I want it! Orchid is also a lovely colour. Wish list is growing 🙂
Electro is so fun!
