Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Look you loved this week?: Australian Gold tinted and Clarins concealer on my face; Stila Wheat and Puppy shadows, UD Corrupt liner on upper lashline, Sephora Fairytale under lower lashes (thanks to a recent look from Christine which reminded me how much like I like certain teal/green liners under my bottom lashes), Marc Jacobs skinny liner on upper waterline; Dior Rosy Glow blush and MAC Full Fuchsia on my lips
Any new or old favorites discovered?: getting out that Stila palette (I think it’s the Spirit one) and using Wheat again. I’d forgot how much I loved it but there was a time when I used it pretty much every day.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I want to take out and use the Stila Trust in Love palette and also Smashbox Infrared Be Legendary lipstick. It’s a matte and they’re not my favourite finish but this one (or perhaps all the Be Legendary mattes) feels really nice, wears amazingly well and I love how it lights up my face (who doesn’t need a bit of that these days?)
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Look you loved this week?: None. One was to the eye doctor and I wore a mask, so no lip color, and no eye makeup other than UDPP all over the top and bottom lids and set with Besame Brightening French Vanilla Powder to cover dark insomnia circles. The other was using the Nabla Metropolitan Palette. I found Metropolitan’s mattes really awful on first try. The coral, Nothing Personal, was super hard to blend out, and Lord wanted to blend out too much. I’m not sure yet if it’s the palette, the primer I used, or me. The shimmers were beautiful, and I did manage to get an OK look out of it in the end, but it was really frustrating to work with.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: This is a weird one. I bought the Dominique Lemonade Palette about a year ago right when the reformulated version was released. It was mostly pretty awful for me. I tried it off an on for awhile, and then spent the rest of the year going back and forth about whether to declutter it. A couple months ago, I decided to give it one more try, and if I found it difficult, I’d pass it along.
It was amazing! I used my same primers, my same brushes, and it yet was like a whole other palette. Maybe it gets along better with my skin now that I’m done with menopause. Maybe the formula just got better after sitting for so long. I don’t know, but I’m pretty happy about the change in performance.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Use Metropolitan some more and at least one of the other Nabla palettes I got, so I can decide whether to return. I want to see if the issue was just that palette, the primer, the brushes, or what.
Skin tone/coloring: Light, neutral skin tone, green eyes, s&p hair
Look you loved this week: Just for fun, I tried to do a 1920s look. EYES—I started by tightlining my upper lash line with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion. Using the Smashbox Punked palette, I used Punked on lid, Soft Punch in crease, and Headliner on my brow bone. Then I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Desperation smudged on the entire lower lash line, Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara, and NYX Micro Brow. FACE—Estée Lauder Double Wear in Desert Beige, Lancome Effacernes Concealer in Light Buff, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder, Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lotus Pink. LIPS—First I tried a couple of reds, but I felt it looked too garish with the eyes, so I settled on MAC Verve.
Any new or old favorites discovered: I usually use lighter shades on my lids, but I really liked how the above look came out, so I’m going to experiment more along these lines. So far, I’ve used MAC Satin Taupe and MAC Twinks on my lids this week and both looks were really nice. Both of those shades accent my green eye color.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week? I’m not sure which products I’ll use, but I want to try more experimental eye looks!
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Look you loved this week?: I used my good old Naked 2 – with YDK all over the lid (a much loved shade), Busted on the lower lid and Chopper in the crease. These colours all blend together so effortlessly. I paired it with MAC Marrakesh lipstick.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Just loving all my old neutral palettes and combining some of the golden shades with my olives.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Just loving my stash.
Your skin tone/coloring: above by my name, dark brown highlighted hair, hazel eyes
Look you loved this week: n/a
Any new or old favorites discovered?: I haven’t been out
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I don’t know when I’ll be going out again but I would like to use my new Tom Ford mascara. It’s nice that things are starting to open up but I won’t be able to indulge in the luxury of going to a store until my doctor gives high risk people the ok to venture out into the wicked wild world!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/cool skin (foundation matches: Fenty Pro Filt’r 110, Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5, NARS Natural Radiant Longwear 2.0 Mont Blanc, Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Light EF 02, L’Oreal True Match C3 Creamy Natural), gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blonde/blue strands. My everyday base products are Fenty-Amber Match Stick as cheek contour and Pro Filt’r concealer and Soft Matte foundation in 110.
Look you loved this week?: Thursday I did a modified version of Scott Barnes’ Girl Next Door look from his book Face to Face: Sydney Grace Devotion on the lid and undereye, Sephora Vampire Lovers in the crease, Sydney Grace Romeo on the browbone, ColourPop Plum and Get It mascara, Tarte Blushing Bride blush, and Sephora Labyrinth City lipstick.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Marc Jacobs Rebel Rebel gloss is amazing! Billed as a deep raspberry pink, it’s bold but neutral enough to go with a lot of different things.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I’m planning on using my new Charlotte Tilbury Secret Salma lipstick next week.
