Charlotte Tilbury Starry Eyes to Hypnotise Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Starry Eyes to Hypnotise
Charlotte Tilbury Starry Eyes to Hypnotise 12-Pan Eye Palette ($75.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette for the holiday season that’s split up into four trios. The formula the brand uses in these larger palettes seems to be one of their best; I find the quads to be hit or miss with the more matte shades being a little powdery and prone to sheering out, while the three matte shades in this palette are intense, velvety, and finely-milled–they have a sumptuous feel to them.
The shimmers, with the exception of the two from the Seduce Glow trio, are fantastic. They’re richly pigmented, creamy without being heavy or thick, and easy to work with on bare skin. The two shimmers in the Seduce Glow trio have heavier sparkle and feel more silicone-heavy so they have more slip and feel less like a traditional powder. They felt smoother and were more yielding than the Pop shades in the brand’s quads but are in a similar vein. If you like sparkly top coats, they should perform well enough in that capacity.

LELimited Edition. $75.00.
Happy Glow (Prime)
Happy Glow (Prime) is a bright, medium peach with strong, warm undertones and a soft, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had a soft, lightly creamy consistency that wasn’t too dense or too firmly pressed in the pan. It picked up easily with a brush and dispersed even, opaque coverage in a single layer. This shade stayed on well for eight hours before I noticed any fading.

Happy Glow (Enhance)
Happy Glow (Enhance) is a light-medium copper with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It was intensely pigmented where a little went a long way. The color applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin and blended out easily along the edges as it had a lightly creamy, smooth consistency to begin with. It wore beautifully for eight and a half hours before there was visible fading.

Happy Glow (Smoke)
Happy Glow (Smoke) is a light-medium brown with warmer, orange undertones and a matte finish. The velvety consistency made it easy to work with on bare skin, as the edges blended out seamlessly without the product losing its coverage. It had rich pigmentation in a single layer, but it could be used with a lighter hand for softer coverage if preferred. It lasted well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Love Glow (Enhance)
Love Glow (Enhance) is a medium, rusty copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had a creamier, more emollient texture to it than most of the other shades in the palette, so I was surprised that it still managed to apply flawlessly: smooth, even coverage that was opaque in one layer. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before creasing slightly on me.

Seduce Glow (Prime)
Seduce Glow (Prime) is a light-medium gold with warm undertones and a sparkling, high-shine finish. It had medium coverage in a single layer, and it had semi-opaque coverage in a single layer when applied with a dampened brush or a fingertip. The texture felt smoother and more emollient, densely-packed into the pan, which made it harder to pick up with a dry brush without jabbing it into the surface to dislodge product. I found applying it with a dampened brush and patting a bit more on top using a fingertip yielded a sparkling, shiny effect that was even. It stayed on well for eight hours with slight fallout over time.

Seduce Glow (Enhance)
Seduce Glow (Enhance) is a dirty pewter with subtle, cooler undertones and a sparkling finish. It had semi-opaque coverage, but it looked nothing like the color in the pan. The actual color was several shades lighter with a slightly warmer undertone and less of a blue/gray cast overall. The texture felt more emollient and had more slip, which resulted in a thinner consistency that applied better with fingertips or a dampened brush. I was able to apply it with a dry brush but felt like I had to use a heavier hand to pick up product. It wore nicely for eight hours with slight fallout over time.

Seduce Glow (Smoke)
Seduce Glow (Smoke) is a deep, inky black with subtle, cool undertones and barely-there micro-shimmer over a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, but the texture was incredibly dense and firmly-pressed in the pan. It seemed to soften slightly and was easier to pick up product from after two uses, though. The texture was velvety but almost emollient; almost as if it was 25% cream and 75% powder. It applied fairly evenly and was blendable to my surprise. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Beautiful eye look with the greens, coppers and deep red matte! Just stunning!
As for the palette, I’m feeling iffy about it. I’d probably prefer having either PMG Midnight Sun with ND Gold Mini or else ND Gold with Gold mini? Mostly so that I could get more versatility out of a green/gold/ and whatnot combo.
I rarely return makeup but I returned this. Personally, I was underwhelmed and felt I could get equal looks from any decent neutral palette in my collection (admittedly extensive). Nancy, you would almost certainly prefer either of the combos you mention above. I was surprised at how much I loved Charlotte Tilbury’s Iconic palette and was hoping this was the same but it sadly didn’t work out for me.
I totalllly love this palette. I missed out on last years so I may try to get this one.
Christine, in your affiliate links it says its available at Beautylish (which is where I prefer to purchase) but the link doesn’t bring me to that palette and I also can’t find it on the Beautylish website. Do you know if it will be available there?
They have been really tight lipped on who is carrying the palette at this time, so I don’t know.
I really like the cooler side of this palette, wish the pewter was better as it’s by far the most interesting shade imo, but looks very wearable.
It’s a nice palette but thanks to your dupes list I know I have a dupe for every color. 🙂
This is probably one of the better CT offerings for awhile now. I do love the combination of shades and find them quite wearable. It is a shame that the brand decided to go with the sparkly numbers in the Seduce trio – they should have just stuck with the shimmers and they would have been alright.
Apart from that, a really excellent palette and a beautiful eye look Christine.
The sparkle shades in the seduce trio are gorgeous just pat on with your finger.
Thanks again Christine for your timely review! 🙂
I liked last year’s CT holiday palette and was interested in this one — but mostly for the 2 trios on the right side, the 2 on the left seem very similar to the previous holiday palette and also a lot of stuff CT puts out. With the right most “Seduce” trio falling so flat I think I will look elsewhere for this sort of colors.
Also as a note, I am very puzzled and a little put off by the way this palette is being released. They made a huge deal of it being available for “one day only” initially (which I of course did not believe) without stating it is early access/pre-release. Why be so opaque about availability to your customers? :/
I honestly have no idea 🙁 I don’t have any issue with an early access window for 24 hours, but the secrecy regarding if it’ll be back, if it’ll be anywhere else, etc. it’s so unnecessary. Maybe it’s working for the brand? But I feel like based on the number of releases by brands, period, and the competition, it feels like way too much effort to bother for one brand!
