ColourPop Blue Moon Eyeshadow Palette Makeup Look Ideas (x9)
ColourPop Blue Moon 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($12.00 for 0.36 oz.) has an assortment of blues ranging from pale, iridescent blue to darker blue. I think the palette could have used a really inky, blue-black and perhaps a true navy blue. The tone of Clued In seemed oddly warm-toned relative to most of the shades in the palette, and I felt like it didn’t go well with other mid-tone shades in the palette.
About This Series
Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.
You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

Speaking of Blue Moon…
Last night I was rummaging through my eye palettes in search of blue shades because I wanted to try a pretty look I had seen that was mostly neutral, but with a couple pops of blue (icy and dark). Even with all my palettes, I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I’m seriously considering getting this palette now. While there are only four shades that are jumping out at me, it’s still only $12, and seems to be a better deal than buying singles.
Colourpop makeup is so affordable, but this brings me to the ordering problem — shipping costs more than a CP lipstick, so I can never get away with spending less than $30. There’s a Blush Stix that I have been wanting, and now I’m curious about the Uh Oh Honey palette, which seems like shades I would hate, but I absolutely love the look Amanda from Makeup Just for Fun got when she did her tutorial. What to do? Such big problems. Lol
Yeah, ColourPop makes the singles game pretty rough! Even better that their pans are removable, so you can always take the ones you like out and give the rest to a friend!
There are several shades in here that I would definitely use: Billie Jean, Lumi, Tide Pool, Clued In, perhaps Da Ba Dee. For $12, this is still reasonable, I believe?
Those may be usable even on my very teal toned blue-green eyes, I’m thinking.
Thanks for these. I find this palette harder to use than a collection of greens. (Got the SG bundle, rather than this and have plenty other greens.) Somehow, these shades are all so different, that trios, or use with neutrals seems so much easier. Ah, whatever works. It IS fun, and it’s nice to see blues making a comeback.
I’m not surprised! I think these are more contrasting against a lot of skin tones, so without some neutrals in it, I can see it being hard to work with cohesively.
Great combos, as always. I’m glad you showed how to work Clued In with the other shades, as that is the odd one out.
I agree — ColourPop usually coordinates well, and I remember how the tone of Clued In really threw me off!
Clued In would have been better suited to a teal palette. I would have loved to see a shade like NARS Giove in its place.
Very pretty combinations, but it does show that many of the shades have a similar tone to them. I just wish that Colour Pop had added a true navy shimmer…..
Perfect timing! I just bought this palette, but I’m new to blue eyeshadows so I need some inspo on creating looks. I’m loving this palette so far! I agree about it needing a blue-black or a deeper navy. I’m using Indiana from Sydney Grace to fill that void. But other than that I can’t wait try out some more looks with Blue Moon. It’s a fun palette!
I like a few og the shades, but I almost find it odd to have an all one hued eyeshadow palette. Not as many options and no color mixing.
I love this series so much! Here are some palettes I’d love to see your suggestions for:
