ColourPop Mar 9-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($12.00 for 0.36 oz.) is one of two newly released powder eyeshadow palettes released by the brand for their summer collection. I liked most of the shades, and I felt like I could come up with some color combinations, but it did take some thinking to blend the cooler shades with all the very warm-toned hues in the palette, and I found myself limited quite a bit by staying within this palette–it would be better to complement another palette, I think.

About This Series

Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.

You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

I have avoided getting this palette for precisely the thought that you expressed concerning the color configuration of it. Colourpop missed an excellent opportunity to do a take on the Tarte “Icy Betch” April fool’s palette! I’d have been so on it if CP had done an all oceanic teal/seafoam green/deep blue/palest gray-white/etc. Palette, because they CAN. C’mon ColourPop, do the dang thing! ????

Thanks for this (I think, I’m supposed to be on a low buy, he he he)! Both look amazing. Fyrinnae had a couple of their Pressed Exquisites back in stock so I was already bad…

Thank you for these ideas! I have used this palette only once and wasn’t thrilled with how my look turned out. I’m glad to have some other inspiration.

I ordered 5 palettes from sol y mar and 4 of them came broken. They are sending replacements. However I realized that the pans are removable, so I spent a long time cleaning and then took pans from the other ones and substituted so that I would have some complete compacts. In some cases, it has different colors to what it started with, but all 9 spaces are filled. I have one empty palette, but since I deported some of my other ones also, this can be used to make a look for travel.

None of the substituted ones can be used for gifts as they still don’t look clean, so I will pass them on to close friends.
