Starting May 17th, Melt Cosmetics will be available online at Sephora, and it’ll be available in stores on June 7th.  You can check out the full line-up that’ll be available, but it looks like quite a bit current range, including their recent eyeshadow palettes like Smoke Sessions, Twenty-Seven, and Gemini.  They’re only showing five of the Eyeshadow Stacks (including their most recent release, Shape Shift), though.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Do you know if Sephora Canada will carry them? Here in Canada we often don’t get access to as many brands. There are a number of lesser known brands such as Melt that I’d like to try, but unless they’re sold at Sephora, they can be difficult or impossible to get! Some of them don’t ship to Canada at all, even directly, and if they do, it can be very expensive. I’m lucky enough to live less than an hour from the border so I can always go across and shop Sephora in the US, but with the exchange rate these days it often isn’t worth it.

There is definitely more selection on the US site. It is getting better in Canada in the past few years though! And I checked, and happily Melt is indeed available here, so that’s exciting! In my experience, many times we don’t get access to certain products/brands as early. Good news on this one though, thanks for sharing!

I travel to the US quite often. I have a running list of everything that I want that we can’t get up here. It’s so frustrating when I do a search and it’s not carried here. My last trip down was over $300 in products. There are quite a few products that I use on a daily basis that are cheaper to purchase down there than to purchase here, even with the exchange rate.,

Very exciting! I’ve had a couple of Melt lipsticks on my wishlist for awhile, I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to see them in person.

I was just saying to someone a couple weeks ago that Sephora should drop KVD and pick up Melt, because they seem to appeal to a similar demographic.

Perhaps, but a major difference is KvD is owned by Sephora, and Melt is independent. KvD has the ability to produce large runs of products, and Melt had difficulty keeping their own site regularly stocked, even with permanent products, and I hope they don’t run into the same issues as OCC… Also, KvD has products that Melt doesn’t, and vice versa, and they really are two very different brands; I love them both, and have a significant amount of items from both, but I wouldn’t want to have to choose between both…

I don’t personally own anything from MELT but have purchased a fair amount for my daughter. When I was really conflicted about the Smoke Sessions palette I was seeing and hearing that people were having difficulties with some of the shades expanding out of the pans and making a mess. I am wondering if purchasing in person will have an effect on that issue. In other words, is it the jarring in transport that is causing the problem or is it formula related. I don’t follow them so also wonder if they have addressed that problem with all the previous palettes sold? I know that TaraBabyz recently remarked that she has to push the product back into the pans and she has to do it more than once. Has anyone heard whether they have addressed this issue with their customers?

I have a very strong feeling this isn’t going to work out well for Melt Cosmetics… They have enough trouble keeping their own site stocked, so how do they intend to manufacture enough to fulfill Sephora’s needs…? As much as I’m pulling for them, and would love to be able to pick up products in-store, I have a strong feeling they’re going to go the way of OCC…

Clearly there will be a need for mfg expansion, retooling, etc. Melt, idk, but their runs certainly do not approach CP’s. CP is huge, and can do stock for U or S, esp since the ‘exclusives’ only debuted at U or S and later moved to CP. Makes you wonder if S is somehow going to mfg the Melt formulae on their equipment. Melt is constantly OOS, not because they cannot forecast well or judge their demand….they’re OOS bec they can’t keep up with demand. It’s not artificial scarcity, IMO. I agree with you. Unless they can do huge runs…and they haven’t been successful thus far…the venture is doomed.

Great news! I like the Melt products I own and look forward to being able to pick out Melt products in person. Also Melt doesn’t allow returns, so you get stuck with stuff you can’t use. Sephora has a much better return policy, and you can get points!

I LOVE Melt Cosmetics and have for a long time. I own almost everything, and at least one thing from every category, and am happy for their success. BUT I bought the Shapeshift stack and it’s easily one of the WORST “palettes” in my collection. The shadows are sticky and don’t want to be picked up by finger – let alone brush – and *if* you can pick them up, you can’t deposit them on the eye.

For anyone purchasing Melt, pick a well-loved stack or the Smoke Sessions palette (beautiful and applies like a dream). The Gemini is a favorite, but I haven’t purchased it yet myself so I won’t speak to its quality.
