ColourPop This is Not a Dream Collection

ColourPop This is Not a Dream Collection is an exhaustive collection that spans eyes, lips, and cheeks with numerous shades and finishes to choose from.  With so much to choose from, it can be hard to remember what did well (and what didn’t), so now that I’ve finished reviewing everything from the collection, it’s time for a roundup!  (I may or may not review the body glitters at some point, but it’s not a priority at this time!)

The stand out for me was the Chasing Rainbows palette, which was beautiful on its own but played well with the rest of the collection.  I love the way the Jelly Much Eyeshadow formula looks on the lids but am not in love with the packaging (would prefer a tube), but shades like Hallucinogenius make the packaging worth suffering through.  ColourPop, as usual, did a good job on the new Super Shock Shadows, like Milky Way and IRL.

Did you pick up anything from this holiday launch?

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! That is a pretty stellar result for an entire collection. Well done Colour Pop!
And a mammoth achievement by you Christine to have reviewed it all in such a relatively short time.
Personally, the collection wasn’t for me, but I appreciate the beautiful shades and colours.

I “accidentally” snagged 75% of this collection-the whole theme is totally My Thing. I went in for everything except the lippie sticks, ultra mattes, ultra satins as they are terrible and the Super Shock Highlighter set as I’m allergic.

I loved this collection, and if I was in a position where money didn’t matter I probably would have splashed out on the whole thing. But you’ve hit on a great idea with the Jelly Much shadow, Christine: a tube would be much better! Although I’m in love with pretty much all the Jelly colours from this release, they can be tricky to apply – it takes (well, me at least) a bit of trial and error. Too much and it slides off.. not enough and it evaporates.
Question: did you use a primer for the Jellys? I’ve found they stick best to just a bit of translucent powder on the lids but I certainly would like to know what you’ve found most useful.

I don’t have application issues myself so much as opening and closing each pot gets quite messy, and it may be easier to get the right amount in a tube format! I don’t use primer with them myself (I test without primer – I tend to only bring in primer if it’s a new formula that doesn’t last well on its own just to see if primer is enough to fix it). I like using small, flat synthetic brushes for applying, though!

I picked up Happy Thoughts, Skywalking, Dreamaholic, Paper Moon and the Dream Sequence palette. The lipsticks are great, haven’t tried the glosses yet because I’m still obsessed with Blowzy from the Brown Sugar collection…

I don’t know how Colourpop can put out so much decent quality stuff so quickly – it’s almost overwhelming but I’d rather have too much choice than not enough 😉

Your last sentence: my thoughts exactly! Like I can whine about too many releases but if they’re 85-90% hits? Hard to whine that much. It’s more on us (collectively) to back away when it’s TOO much for us – it’s like my husband says, “you aren’t supposed to buy it all.”

No, I haven’t and except for Rem and Morning Glory I don’t have much interest in it. I have a vision (which I’ve shared before on a winter frost, blues, greens and silvers palette) that I’m waiting for and will likely just make myself when my Sydney Grace shadows arrive, so this one is too Too Faced Life’s a Festival like too me, and I prefer theirs (even though I don’t own it) to this.

Jane Avatar

Well, when the Sydney Grace shadow arrive that’s what I’ll be doing with those and some I have from MUFE, lots of blues!!! I’m so excited and thanks for the encouragement! Oh and can I say the Sydney Grace folks are AWESOME!!! Truly, I wish I could detail what they did, but it suffices to say they are just “gracious” and generous.

I adore this collection, the packaging is just right up my alley and I love bright colors and shimmers, so I feel very satisfied!

I picked up the supershock shadow vault and Hallucinogenius. In my dream world, I’d like to get the Chasing Rainbows palette and the other 6 supershock shadows. Someday, maybe!!!

I was doing so well with not buying new makeup, but they 100% got me with this collection!
