My skin tone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones, MAC NC37, Lancome Teint Idole 24H Foundation N360, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.

Favorite look you wore: Well, I think I only wore makeup twice during the past week! I absolutely loved the look I created using MAC’s Joy To on my eyes!
Eyes: all MAC. Orb browbone, Blackberry transition, Sketch on entire lid smoked upwards into Blackberry and also on lower lashline, Joy To applied to center lid as a glittery blurple halo (so cool!), Shadowy Lady to define outer V, KVD Amethyst and Opal inner corner, UD 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Voodoo on lower lashline, my usual black liner, tightliner and mascara. This eye look was spectacular! Cheeks: UD Jawbone, MAC Syrup or Sugar blush, and Snowflushed EDSF Highlighter. Lips: Nyx Earthtone SLP, MAC Marque lipstick, Caketop Lipglass. The look on the Wal-Mart cashiers face: PRICELESS!

Most used product of the week: PMG Bronze Seduction Mothership palette? Plus, 3 days in a row of just my HG skincare and me.

Any new beauty discoveries: Hmm…I love my glittery OTT eye looks and other equally bright and beautiful goodies I own. However, it’s probably best not to venture into Walmart with super dark, glittery eyes to do some casual good shopping in these parts, lol!

Thank you for the encouragement, Lesley! Although, seriously, it was all I could do not to either bust out laughing at the poor cashier’s facial expression or ask her “what?!?” and laugh outside! Kept my composure, acting like I didn’t know notice, probably gave her something to think about, though. ?

*food shopping, not “good” shopping.

My skin tone/coloring: Light medium, yellow undertones. Dark brown hair & eyes.

Favorite look you wore: A rosy copper eye with a matte brick red on lid and medium deep warm brown in crease and outer third. I applied a strong metallic rose colour right in the middle of the mobile lid, blended a shimmery copper in the outer V and some champagne highlight on the inner corner. Bronze liner, curled lashes, tawny nude blush with a cool rose highlight and a warm terracotta lip.

Most used product of the week: Revolution liquid highlighter in Ethereal, a lilac pink shimmer.

Any new beauty discoveries: I tried blending up my own long wear luminous foundation using liquid foundation and luminizers that I already own. It doesn’t have quite the coverage I prefer but otherwise it’s really lovely.

Skin tone/coloring : Fair to light, cool to neutral.

Favorite look (eye looks ): This week I used the two new e/s palettes I purchased: ABH Sultry and Pat McGrath and I came up with three everyday eye looks using these palettes. I know that ABH Sultry is an everyday look palette but I challenged myself to use the coral shade. Bear with me as my makeup skills are really basic 🙂 + I can’t wear elaborate eye makeup at work.

ABH Sultry: I was inspired by an eye look I saw some time ago on internet, combing a coral and a greyish blue. So, I used Bloom (coral) in the crease, Flesh on the entire mobile lid, Slate (cool-grey matte) on top of Flesh and then I applied Cyborg (warm pewter) with my fingertips on top of Slate. I went back with Slate at the outer corner of the lid and in a diffused way on my ¾ of the lower lid. Eye primer used (my fave): Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof in Original.

PMG Sublime Bronze Temptation: I didn’t use an eye primer for the following two eye looks and I used my fingertips when I applied the shimmery shades on my upper lid.

First look: Burning desire (matte brown) in the crease; Provocatrix (light copper) applied using fingertips on 3/4 of the lid starting with the inner corner; Supernova (green) on the remaining portion and outer lid. I packed the last two shades a couple of times using my fingertip. Dark Paradise as eyeliner on ¾ of the upper lid and smudged/diffused on half of the lower lid.

Second look: Burning desire (matte brown) in the crease; Celestial (champagne shimmer) applied using fingertips on 3/4 of the lid starting with the inner corner; Corruption on the remaining portion, outer lid and lower lid. Same application method. I preferred the second look to the first one because Supernova is such a beautiful color, that I prefer to use it all over the lid, at its full intensity, for a special occasion/evening/editorial look.

RE Supernova: strangely enough, there is a difference in the pan with respect to this particular shade’s consistency, meaning a portion of the shade is soft to the touch and the other portion is a bit gritty/dry to the touch. I passed the finger several times on top of the pan but it remained the same. How can this be? Also, Supernova and Provocatrix are not as soft as Corruption and Celestial.

Why the fingertips when I applied the shimmers: 1) I wanted better control of the color intensity (especially Supernova) and 2) I found that by applying Supernova and Provocatrix using the fingertips, it packed the color better on the lid, and as a result I personally had no fallout with this method.

Most used product of the week: My Dr Jart+ BB Cream.

New beauty discoveries: PMG Sublime Bronze Temptation by far, ABH Sultry, the new Becca x Chrissy Teigen Lip Gloss Kit (love it!).

As much as I initially disliked using my fingertips to apply eyeshadow, sometimes it really is the best tool for it. I’ve had shimmers that swatch beautifully and apply with a brush absolutely abysmally. Plus I have noticed that as I get older (cough, coming up on forty, cough) that if I really layer on foiled or metallic shadows I now tend to get a very textured, crepey looking lid. Applying with a finger (heat? friction? natural skin oils? combination of all 3?) tends to mitigate that to a large extent.

And little to no fallout, as you so widely mention 😀

Nicole D Avatar

So true CeeBee! I know what you’re talking, I’m in my late 30s 🙂 I’m not a fan either of using my fingertips, but in this case it was the best way for me of controlling the intensity/sheering those gorgeous metallic sheen shades (Supernova and Provocatrix). And indeed, no fallout during or after the application.

My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.

Favorite look you wore: Today’s look. EYES: UDPP in Enigma. I used tape to get a sharp outer edge. ABH Sultry Palette: Slate (crease to brow, darker toward outer edge and lighter toward brow), Dystopian (outer edge of crease), Cyborg (packed onto lid over NYX Black Eye Shadow Base), and Noir (smudged along lower lashline). Apocalyptic Beauty HL in Mummy Mambo (brow bone and foiled on inner corner). Winged liner using Eye Booster Lash 2-in-1 Boosting Eyeliner & Serum. UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Perversion (upper waterline). NYX Worth the Hype Mascara. BROWS — ABH e/s in Love Letter. LIPS — MAC Lipstick in Metal Head. CHEEKS — UD Afterglow Blush in Rapture. FACE — NYX Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick in Alabaster, e.l.f. HD Powder, Apocalyptic Beauty HL in Mummy Mambo, Medusa’s Make-up Setting Spray.

Most used product of the week: Wet n Wild Zombie Blush. I’m really in love with it.

Any new beauty discoveries: Pat McGrath’s website restocked the Mothership V palette, so I was able to sign up for their newsletter, and I got 10% off + free shipping. I missed out getting it from Sephora during VIB Rouge sale, so this is the next best thing.

Thank you so much! I’ve had this color for a couple years now, and it’s my favorite. I recently refreshed it, so it’s at its brightest.

I wish I could have captured my makeup look better. I have yet to figure out lighting my deep-set eyes correctly to make shimmers show up. Cyborg looks so amazing over a black base, and I just couldn’t capture it. I’ll have to find time to experiment and figure it out.

My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones

Favourite look you wore: I haven’t really got a favourite look this week, as I have been using fairly similar shades all week.

Most used product of the week: City Colour Cleo, Sandstorm and All Eyes on Me.

Any new beauty discoveries: Yes, I really have to get better at blending eyeshadow on my right eyelid. For some reason, my left eye is fine, but my right eye needs more careful blending. Using a finer eyeshadow brush for darker shades is essential so I don’t look like I have panda eyes….

My skin tone/coloring: Fair with neutral undertones and freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.

Favorite look you wore: Probably a hot pink/purple eye with bright orange liner.

Most used product of the week: Viseart Libertine palette.

Any new beauty discoveries: Pixi Beauty H20 Skintint! I love it so much! It’s everything I hoped the IT Cosmetics CC cream would be and feels so nice going on.
