Sneak Peek: Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palettes Photos & Swatches
Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette ($27.00 for 0.35 oz.) released recently in four variations, which are all swatched in this post! I hope to review soon-ish but no ETA yet.
Christine, is it possible for you to add a pic to show the scale of the palette? (Like the typical comparison to your hand.) That might be helpful for people to consider at the sneak peek stage. We all know it’s a mini-palette and the corresponding weight, but I have heard people online exclaiming about how small it is, and I’m not sure if they’re just surprised / have too high expectations, or it’s really that small from a value perspective. Thanks!
Sorry, I received too many complaints from readers that my hand is overly large and not a useful comparison point, and I definitely did not want to be confusing readers, as it seemed I was previously. It is the same size as a typical quad – MAC, Anastasia, Chanel, etc.
LOL this is funny to me. Your manhands!!! Are ruining everything!!! (Kidding, obviously.) The quad reference is helpful – thanks! 9 shadows that take up the space of a typical 4.
Not a total surprise – they are definitely not dainty little things! They’re as long from bottom of the palm to fingertip as my husband’s (and he’s 6 foot), but my fingers are unusually long. Maybe it was all those piano lessons 🙂
They’re 0.388888888 oz. each, so almost 0.04 oz. Most full-sized eyeshadows are 0.05 oz. (MAC/UD), so it seems like they just crammed them in as squares to go edge-to-edge to maximize product space vs. borders! My initial reaction was they were really space conscious and contained plenty of product in each shade while being super travel friendly.
The larger Huda palettes are $65/.89 oz. or $73/oz. These are $77.14/oz. Sephora has the Obsessions palettes listed at 0.45 oz. but they said 0.35 oz. on the plastic insert over the palettes. (This is consistent with Huda’s site, which lists them as 1.1g, which is 0.0388 oz.)
Sounds like you have same size hands as me, so I’d like the pics!!
Omg, f’sure! That had me howling! People actually complained about the bear paws you sport? Sorry. Had to. Must be a lot of dainty readers. Maybe a ruler, like a crime scene photo!! Idk, losing it here (bec I just drove 5 hours to take a young friend to see her bf…she never gets time off, and it’s her first true love..) and I came home , had German brandy on a pretty empty stomach AND ORDERED SNOW WHITE. Giddy time. I think your hands are as beautiful as the rest of you.
Oh, I don’t think anyone was trying to be mean or insult my hands – only letting me know that they felt misled by the photos as they’d get something and find it very different in size in person vs. trying to rely on my photos, and the last thing I ever want do is mislead readers!
I love seeing the “hand for scale” photos! They help me out a lot. I guess you have a split readership.
Maybe showing the product next to something of a basic size like a pencil? 😉
Actually, just giving the measurement of the palette in inches is probably a good idea. I saw these palettes at Sephora last night and was surprised by how little they are.
That made me laugh Christine! Can’t please everyone!
If it helps, I have small but fat hands and the palette is roughly a tad larger than the palm of my hand.
Are we so meticulous? I don’t get it!
The palette is small but the shadow pans don’t look too tiny. It just looks like they utilized the small space really efficiently. I was personally not surprised or disappointed by the size.
It’s about 3-3 1/2” square, if that helps
I was excited to try these and ordered the Mauve one. Unfortunately it arrived completely demolished. I was a little surprised at how small the palette was too. Interested in seeing a full review!
I had the same problem. My shadows crumbled. What did you do? I’m contacting Sephora. And it is small.
I emailed customer service yesterday. Shortly after I received an auto reply with a note that it could take 72 hours since they’re busy right now.
Stay on top of it..Igor a refund. You shouldn’t have to pay for a broken product
I had the same problem! I repressed it, but it was all over the place and the shadow that broke is so tiny now. Of course it was the brightest shimmer that I would definitely use often…I’m going to contact them as well.
Definitely do. I got a refund. I’m going to try on my eyes today. The swatches weren’t too promising.
I love the crazy mix of shades in Electric, which are so different from anything I own, but some of those swatches don’t look very promising. The other two palettes are easily dupable for me. Will you be reviewing these, Christine?
As I mentioned in the beginning of the post, I hope to review soon-ish but no ETA yet! 🙂
Sorry about that. I scrolled directly to the swatches…do not pass go…do not collect $200!!!! 😉
I’m feeling overwhelmed and underwhelmed at the same time. IDK? Perhaps I’m in a state of eyeshadow saturation overload? ?
You rock, Christine!
I almost jumped on the mauve palette, but as far as swatches go, it’s no longer in the running ..
These are a pass for me
Bingo. Formerly psyched.
Wow, thanks for all the swatches! I wish the Mauves palette was more what I think of as mauve (dusty pink) and less red. Way too red for me, would make me look like I had allergies. 🙁 The Brights look like good pigmentation.
I’m super interested in the Smokey palette and these swatches look promising!! I might take a chance and order during the VIB sale…
Thank you for the swatches! Looking forward to the reviews, especially of the Electric and Smokey palettes. ?
I like the colors in the smokey palette but I just purchased MUFE Artist palette #1 – Nudes for $25 (on sale at Sephora) which I think is a better deal. I also really enjoy the MUFE formula. Thanks for the sneak peek though.
Looking forward to getting the electric one. I don’t really need it but recently realized that I reach for the small over the big palettes. It’s much easier for me to choose from a collection of small palettes than keep reaching for the beautiful rainbows that are KVD collections, for example. I feel like I don’t have to think as hard about the combos and putting a look together – even a more unique look. Also I saw these in store and the size looks perfect for travel. They’re small enough to fit in your palm but not enough that the shadow size was smaller. They feel like a more efficient use of packaging. So that’s how I will justify that and then keep on my no-shadow-or-highlighter buy for now.
I am not sure about these palettes. I was hoping to find a medium toned very cool brown in one of the palettes but they all look like they swatched a pretty warm undertone. I need a good medium tone very cool brown. Anyone have any suggestions? I was willing to pick up whichever palette had the cool toned brown but since none appear to I am passing. Thank you again, Christine.
Have you checked out MUFE? I’ve had good luck with their cool browns. I particularly like MUFE S-556. It’s techincally a taupe but pulls pretty brown on me! (I’m porcelain skin tone, btw0

Thank you for the suggestion and the link. Looks like it would work for me. I will check it out in person.
Overall, I like the concept of little palettes of distinct shades vs the larger palettes.
In many of the palettes, the mattes are between a little and a lot more patchy than the shimmers.
My favourite is the Smokey – neutral shades the best.
Received Smokey today with half the shadows shattered. Love the size and had hoped this would be my long searched for HG travel palette but based on swatches – and now reports of others shattering during travel – will not be replacing.
This was the only one I grabbed. I’m hoping it has good enough pigmentation so I don’t have to get the Viseart Brights. I don’t wear bright shades enough to warrant an $80 palette. So fingerscrossed.
I bought Smokey at the Sephora sale and received it today. I haven’t touched it yet, but I’m glad to see it swatches quite well!
Was dying to see Warm Browns on the eye… but it was not to be. Why? I almost picked this up tonight when my newly 16 year old and I reached for it at same time! I saw this on IG and ran on over here…. getting more excited as I scrolled, looking for the magic you do modeling the look on your eyes. Is it possible that we’ll get to see that palette modeled?
Hi WBMama,
When I post a sneak peek, it’s almost within 24 hours of me just taking photos/swatches, so you’ll have to give me some time before I can go through and test anything 🙂 Thanks for your patience!
I love the look of the *Mauve*, although I think they could have found a more suitable name–it has a lovely cranberry feel. The Smoky looks interesting too. Think I’ll take a closer look tomorrow at Sephora and see… I’ll admit the smaller palettes with hues from the same family are quite appealing.
Does anyone know if these palettes are limited edition or permanent? I can’t find that information anywhere.
Huda Beauty said permanent to someone who asked on their blog, lol – I know, so convoluted.

All I want for Christmas are your blending skills!!! Breathtaking as usual, Christine. <3
Oh, I am loving these! Hello, Sephora sale!!
I purchased the mauve palette and found a nice assortment of complementary shades. I also like the size of each pan. I owned many Aveda eyeshadows at one point and always appreciated their smaller pans (many of which I finished and replaced).
Holy cheese whiz, Electric is right up my alley, but do I neeeeed it? My heart says yes, my brain says no. Maybe I could put it on my Christmas list and see what happens — if it’s meant to be, it will be!
The first one looks like a great replacement for the discontinued Electric Palette. However the made in China thing has me on edge a bit. Probably better to get some Sugarpill singles and an empty palette.
