Here’s a recap of how well the newly repackaged MAC Lipglass ($17.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) performed! There are shades that were carried over from the original permanent range as well as new ones, along with several limited edition options (several of which were in the Lustreglass range previously).

The Lipglass formula is supposed to be “pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic color” that can be worn “on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick” and will “condition lips.” MAC could use an update on the description as some shades are more pigmented than others but several are sheerer and likely intended to be that way. The formula has a very glossy, high-shine finish with a light-medium weight and moderate tackiness.

I find that newer Lipglasses (over the last couple of years) are smoother and not quite as tacky as the formula was many years ago. They wear from three to six hours on me and are usually lightly hydrating. MAC recently updated the shade range and packaging for the range (though the formula was said to be unchanged), so worth noting is that with that packaging change came a reduction in quantity to 0.10 fl. oz. (was 0.17 fl. oz.), which may matter for some but not everyone.

Great job on swatching – but the thing about the size almost going to half the size for the same price not mattering? Hmm.

Think about how you use gloss and whether you finish them before they go bad or not 🙂 If you’re someone who finishes gloss regularly, then there’s a real decrease in value – but if you’re someone who has tons of gloss and never finishes, then it might not matter that there’s 0.10 fl oz. less or 0.05 fl. oz. – does that make sense?

Thanks for all the swatches! They say they didn’t change the formula, but they look much more sheer/ runny now. I really liked the old formula better. It was definitely tacky, but I think it looked and felt better on the lips (more opaque), and it was unique in the gloss world. Now they seem more like every other gloss out there but the price point is higher.

Thanks Christine fir the info, but I am not thrilled with decrease in product as I love lipgloss and finish them quite regularly. It is just another way for the cosmetics companies to gauge the consumer. Drugstore brands are the worse! Sorry for the rant–not sorry.

Think the description to Morange might have gotten mixed up with the polish! Lovely shade though, love the lipstick as a one-and-done type thing when I dont want to do eye makeup since it’s so impactful!
