Sugarpill x Edward Scissorhands Eyeshadow Palette

Sugarpill x Edward Scissorhands Eyeshadow Palette ($36.00 for 0.24 oz.) contains six eyeshadows that range from matte to frost, cool to warm in tone. I liked it overall; it’s not a slam-dunk, but it’s an interesting composition of shades–a row of cooler shades, a row of warmer shades–and it seems to be a play on light/dark motif in the movie (which admittedly, I have not seen in a decade or longer at this point).

Home Sweet Home is a light-medium, soft baby blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage with a blendable texture that ran a little powdery. It wore well for eight hours before fading on me. ColourPop Taco (LE, $6.00) is darker (85% similar). Dior Blue Lagoon (374) Eyeshadow #1 (LE, ) is warmer (85% similar). MAC Drag Strip #2 (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Beauty Call (LE, $6.00) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). Dior Swimming Pool #3 (LE, ) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Ice Angel is an iridescent, icy white with cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a lightly dusty texture that was somewhat buildable. It seemed best almost layered over the other shades. On me, the color wore well for eight hours before creasing slightly. Dreamy, ethereal and wintry. The eye look you did here encompasses that whole vibe perfectly and looks fantastic on you. Me, not so much. I cannot pull off pale icy blues to save my life. My one wish for this palette would have been 8 smaller pans rather than 6 larger ones, and absolutely them including greens, or a rich leafy shimmery green (Topiary! ) and a light sunny metallic yellow ( Kim’s hair! ).

Nancy T Avatar

8 shades, all 6 here plus those other 2 I mentioned, could have put this one in my must-get zone! And better represented all the themes in this favorite, classic movie. I still may buy it, although pale blue just looks weird and all sorts of wrong on me!

Tammy B Avatar

What a beautiful eye look, Christine! Home Sweet Home and Castle on the Hill are lovely enough by themselves to make me seriously consider this palette.

Ginny Avatar

I really like it. It’s not something I would usually go for but I really like Home Sweet Home and Suburbia together. The whole bottom row seems useful as well as the white. It does kind of capture the movie’s contrast of saccharine suburbia versus dark fantasy, but it’s hard to do that in only six shades.

Emilie Avatar

AAAAH! I love themed palettes so much, but I don’t think I can justify this one… I have dupes for almost all of the shades but the concept is so lovely. I love the look you did with it.

I wish more brands would do movie-inspired palettes more often! I would die if a brand did a Time Burton palette collection (Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Sweeney Todd…), kind of like how Sephora did their Disney palette line. And who could forget UD’s Pulp Fiction palette? Perfection! 🙂

I’m really happy this did good! I was going to buy this regardless. I bought it at the stroke of midnight when it was released. I was fourteen when this movie was out and that was a tough age for me, as I think it is for most. I remember this movie clear as day and I’m getting the movie when it comes out too. I think this was a great idea that Sugarpill came up with. I’m not sure if I am going to actually use mine or not yet, lol. I saw someone on Instagram layering the light white and dark gray to make an iridescent purple shade. It was really pretty cool.

Alexis Avatar

These shades look pretty in the pan, but after seeing them swatched I think they may not be very flattering for a lot of people. The undertones seem a little weird, maybe? I can’t quite put my finger on it, they just seem like they’d be tough to make a good look with. Too bad, I was excited about this one.

EvilsStepQueen Avatar

I normally go for vibrant jewel tones (been really digging cool toned burgundy, lately) but something about this palette called to me. Maybe it was the move tie in, maybe it was that bright coral color….but I now sit, patiently waiting for it to show up. Definitely stayed up late to order it! Now, to figure out what to do with that blue…

Alecto Avatar

I like the colors in this palette. It seems like a really unique and useful combination of cool and warm, light and dark, matte and non-matte. If I didn’t have dupes of everything but Ice Angel, I’d definitely be getting it. (My dupe of Home Sweet Home is satin, not matte, but that’s still not enough to justify it, unfortunately.)

Alice Wonderbra Avatar

I really want to want this palette and have been weighing it back and forth before the next (and last) shipment comes in but it is just so similar to Kat Von D’s Esperanza palette that I can’t justify it. I even have the other Kat palettes you mention dupes from lol.
