The Colors of Love Island: 22 Eyeshadow Combinations Inspired by Holiday Romance

Colors of Love Island

The reality show Love Island (UK) is a guilty pleasure in my household, and I thought it would be fun to put together some color combinations inspired by summer love and romance. I took inspiration from warm, sunny days to strolls on the beach to sunsets, and in some instances, the color story came together because of the shade names and how they felt like they could fit my lil’ theme.

About This Series

Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.

You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

Since I do have several of the above mentioned palettes in my arsenal, call me inspired by some of those combos! I actually do #21.0 quite often, but with Wicked Envy on the lid, Bronze Eclipse on inner lid blending Astral Solstice in the tear duct region, and I’m in love with Vermilion Venom!
But it’s the combos using UD Born To Run and CP Yes, Please that are different enough for me to try out. I don’t believe I’ve used the shades in either one in these configurations yet.

Vaguely related, but for single shadows, do you have opinions on magnetic pallets? I did a search of the site but couldn’t find that you had addressed that anywhere. Maybe I missed something. I hear differing opinions about Z pallets. Do you have a favorite kind? Sorry if that’s too off topic!

Z Palette is a brand I no longer support (due to the owner’s comments to customers over their depotting plate), but the empty palettes were fine from the ones I have from before then. I don’t find that there’s a big difference (for me) between most of the options out there by mainstream brands. I usually buy ColourPop empty palettes if I need more as they’re cost-effective and work for me.

In the future, the best way to ask an off-topic question is to use our contact form and send in feedback! Thanks!

Crowd sourced info on OTQ: If you wish sturdier, not-for-travel, home storage type magnetized palettes, check Adept palettes on Amazon. They are heavy, mostly because the magnetic surfaces are on the OUTSIDE of the palette. Most 2 sided have the magnet on both sides of the center, and you flip the unit to see through the window. Adepts lie flat like an open book. The lucite divider flips to cover one side when open, and keep the shadows in place when shut. You cannot see the shadows through the cover. I am a big fan. TSA would not be…

Stunning combinations Christine – you have such a talent for these and they are so appreciated. It’s hard to pick a favourite, but #18 has all my favoured shimmer shades in it.
And I really am pleased that you have a ‘guilty pleasure’ of a show like Love Island. One of my best girlfriend’s is hooked on Dancing with the Stars, a similar kind of show. Personally I love One Born Every Minute and never miss an episode.

I prefer The Bachelor franchise over Love Island, but since having the holiday off gives me more time than I usually have on Mondays, I might have to give #12 a try this week!

These color stories are a fantastic idea and so goood! They give inspiration and impetus.Sharing images are fantastic for saving and looking up for anyone who wants to use new products or products that already have. Thank you Christine!

Now, I know that this feature has the Christine-type organized and thoughtful feature of click-on-swatch-to-find-your-dupe-get-your-closest-look. And for that, as well as the fun selections, we thank you. But, in a way, the opposite is happening. I’m craving more palettes! These are gorgeous.

You know the reason why I started doing palettes? Because ColourPop’s single range changes–seemingly–every other week and it’s hard to keep up, LOL!!
