20 Delicious Eyeshadow Color Combinations to Try
I’m back again with color stories inspired by a theme… and the theme is dessert! My all-time favorite dessert is tiramisu… a very boozy, espresso-ladened tiramisu. It’s so decadent that my mom’s only allowed to make me one a year.
About This Series
Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.
You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

Dessert based quads are an adorable idea. I’m totally salivating over your description of your mom’s tiramisu. Would it be possible to get pointed in the direction of a yummy recipe?

We skip the sugar in the syrup – using Kahlua has enough sugar for our tastes – and double the Kahlua + espresso across the recipe. I also brew fresh, decaf espresso vs. using instant espresso. I always save some to add to serve, just in case 🙂 My sister and mom prefer slightly drier, I prefer a bit wetter (nicely soaked but not soggy!).
If using alcohol and espresso volumes, I do highly recommend decaf espresso otherwise it is… an experience to eat at night 😉
Thank you so much for this! Thanks for the tip on using decaf espresso powder! I learned the hard way to use decaf espresso instead when baking cookies.
As usual Christine a beautiful collection to play with for the weekend! Thank you!
Happy weekend, Brenda!
You too Christine, I’ll try and send some of our cooler weather down to you lol!
These are scrumptious! Now I’m hungry ?
Oops!! ?
This post totally made me smile!!! And made me want to try Natasha Denona shadows!
Ooh, these are lovely! I’m imagining a pavlova-themed eye look now, with a white-gold wash over most of the lid and then bright fruity shades at the lash line… :9 I’m going to have to play around a bit.
Why did I forget about pavlova!
You sure are talking my language with this one! Love the inspiration!!
You have my tummy rumbling.
OH! Pistachio eye combo and Pistachio ice cream! Heaven!
Boozy tiramisu is a thing?! I’ve never really liked tiramisu but this merits reconsideration!
Tiramisu often has an alcoholic component – I would say it is typically rum (or brandy or cognac) in it, though as a tiramisu connoisseur–aka, if it’s on a menu, I have to try it–most do not put nearly enough booze in it for my taste!
I use Marsala wine in my Tiramisu recipe, don’t hesitate to try this if you find it in a menu!
