YSL Make It Burn, Ready to Seduce, Red in the Dark Rouge Voluptes Reviews & Swatches
Make It Burn (101)
YSL Make It Burn (101) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a brighter, poppy orange with warm, red undertones and a lightly pearly sheen. It had medium coverage, which was as marketed, that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips in a single, fluid stroke.
The texture was lightweight, creamy, and more balm-like, so it had moderate slip but wasn’t heavy and didn’t sink into my lip lines, which was impressive. It stayed on well for four hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.11 oz. - $345.45 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "deeply hydrating" and "melt" onto the lips with a "pop of color" and give long-term hydration. It is described as having "medium coverage" and "irreverent shine." The color coverage was typically medium, as described, though some of the deeper shades were more buildable to semi-opaque coverage.
They're a very, very creamy, emollient formula; they slip-slide as they melt against the lips during application, and it feels luxurious to apply but can be easily over-applied. It's just the type of texture that lends itself to over-application without adding more coverage, so I recommend being mindful in order to ensure you'll get plenty of usage out of each tube. Fortunately, once on, they don't feel thick or overly slippery, so it doesn't feel like the lipstick is constantly moving while worn.
They have a high-shine, almost glossy, finish that often smoothed out my lip lines without settling into them, and the latter made it more impressive due to the amount of color and slip. The wear time varied from shade to shade but typically landed between three and five hours. Some shades leave a faint stain behind--usually the mid-tone and darker hues. The formula has a sweet, mango scent but no discernible taste.

Ready to Seduce (102)
YSL Ready to Seduce (102) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a slightly bright, deeper orange-red with moderate, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had medium pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly to my lips without tugging or dragging. The impressive part about the color was how even it went on and how it didn’t settle into my lip lines noticeably.
It had a creamy, more balm-like texture that felt lightweight, moderately emollient, and was comfortable to apply and to wear (though easy to over-apply as it felt so creamy going on!). The color wore nicely for four hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

LELimited Edition. $38.00.
Red in the Dark (76)
YSL Red in the Dark (76) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark reddened-plum with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy sheen. It had semi-sheer to medium pigmentation that adhered evenly to my lips and didn’t emphasize my lip texture or lip lines. It’s always nice when one can get something comfortable for drier lips that doesn’t exacerbate flakiness!
The lipstick had a smooth, creamy consistency that was lightweight, thin without being clingy, and had moderate slip. It lasted well for four hours and felt hydrating while worn.

Red in the Dark is so different in the tube vs applied. I have Sephora Matinee and never would have thought they’d be similar til I saw the side-by-side swatches on your lips. I really like Ready to Seduce in the tube but I’m leery of the orange tones you say it has. I may opt for (again) the Sephora dupe.
As much as I love Make It Burn and Ready To Seduce, I will stick with orange speaker as my next lipstick treat. But those two are truly lovely as well!
But, it’s Red In The Dark that impresses me the most. It’s like a “my lips but deeper, redder and more alive” for me. I really do love it!
Red In the Dark looks lovely, but I think Liquid by Urban Decay is similar enough for me to further justify not buying a $40 lipstick!
When I looked at the dupe list for Ready to Seduce (really, YSL?), I found that the brand had a lot of dupes for this shade and that many of their lipsticks are quite similar. It is a lovely shade and it looks beautiful.
Red in the Dark is gorgeous! Luckily, I have the Bobbi Brown Crushed dupe.
