My skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look you wore: from a Holiday Stila palette from a few years back, Nude Shimmer and Metallic Bronze eyeshadows, MJ Brownout liner, IT Cosmetics powder foundation, MAC Sweet Sentiment blush (I’m trying to get out of my Dior Rosy Glow “rut” and Sweet Sentiment is one of my favourites), Clarins lipstick in Red Wine or Redwood (I’ll have to check which)
Most used product of the week: I don’t think there is one – I’ve been all over the place this week with products
Any new beauty discoveries: not a very happy one at all, at all….the Chanel counter at The Bay in my city has been shut down and the nearest one (either at The Bay or Holt Renfrew) involves a long-ish highway drive and I have a fair bit of anxiety driving the QEW between here and the outskirts of Toronto).
This week was absolutely fabulous! Interesting how HE and budget beauty both took honors. Not to mention, it was colorful, so welcome.
Skintone / coloring : light, MAC NC 20, med brown hair and eyes
Favorite Look Worn: ABH Prism Palette. Unity and Eden in the crease/transition. Lucid on the eyelid.
Kevin Aucoin Volume Mascara in Rich Pitch Black
MUFE Aqua Eyes black eyeliner to tightline
Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess
Tarte Light Chaser Highlighter in Topaz Chases Gilt
MAC Mineralize Blush in Cosmic Force
Cover Girl Metallic Melting Pout Liquid Lip in Banger
Most used : Clinique Even Better Foundation in Linen, Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Translucent Pressed Powder, Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess, Diorshow Pump and Volume Black Mascara, KVD Lock It Translucent Setting Powder
New beauty discoveries: Milani Most Used Matte Eyeshadow Palette. Super pigmented eyeshadows that blend nicely. Love the rosy, mauve tones. Very useful palette!
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look you’ve worn: I haven’t worn much makeup this week. What I did wear was pretty basic and neutral.
Most used product of the week: Aside from my usual dailies, ABH Matte Lipstick in Dead Roses.
Any new beauty discoveries: Dead Roses may be the most perfect nude on me, ever. I got UD x Kristen Leanne Vice Lipstick in Bun Bun, because everyone was raving about it. I really like it, but I’m not as in love with it as most people seem to be. That might be due to my pale skin and under-pigmented natural lips.
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain with pink undertoes
Favourite look you worn: I used the Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions palette – with the chocolate brown in the crease, taupe on the lid and the gold shade in corners. Paired it with my Milani Colour Statement lipstick in Candied toffee.
Most used product of the week: Apart from sunscreen, I have used a variety of eye shadow palettes this week – Naked 2, Vice 2, Huda Beauty and Guerlain Les Gris with lots of different lipsticks too.
Any new beauty discoveries: That I love shopping my stash.
I love this “shopping my stash” reply. I’m at the point where I’ve got so many colour cosmetics that I really love and not using them because of some urge for “the new” is just plain foolish. And I think we’re not alone in this, Genevieve….I would guess that at least half of those who post here have a lot of “stuff”. It’s different for someone who might only have 2 blushes, 3 lipsticks, a handful of eyeshadows. I also realize that the point of this question is to share with others something new and terrific you might have found but, nevertheless, I like your answer. I always feel a bit in the wrong for replying “just how much I love my XXXX product from 2 years ago” but so often, it really is the case. I used an “old” MAC MES duo from waaay back recently and using it was more than just a good makeup experience; it brought back my excitement from the time I purchased the product, when I had a lot less stuff and was sort of just really getting into MAC in a big way.
I think new beauty discoveries isn’t always about new products you’ve purchased. Or at least that’s not how I take it or answer it always. So I’m in agreement with both of you. Sometimes it’s a technique I’m loving. Sometimes yeah it’s a reminder of an old favorite. Or it could be something that doesn’t work for you. Recently I’ve discovered how much I love MAC pressed pigments. I have a few and they always sat in my drawer. It also helped that I’ve learned how to use them lol. But now I’m obsessed and sad thing is they’ve discontinued them wah wah 🙁 Btw Im all about shopping my stash!!
I am trying not to purchase anymore eyeshadow palettes this year and to just ‘shop’ my stash – I have so many that I purchased in the past that are still better quality that a lot of the rubbish that is being put out lately. Also the current popular trend of very warm shades ie reds, oranges, caramels and pinks just do not work for me. So my older, more cool toned offerings are the ones that suit my colouring the best. Today I opened up my Guerlain Les Aquas to wear, and it is so beautiful.
I think that most of us here on the blog do have a lot of products and it’s good to use them all up. Thank you Mariella.
New beauty discoveries:
WnW bronzer in “Bikini Contest”(a pink-bronze matte), which is very multi-purpose.
Dr Jart body cream (subtle lemon scent), good for feet, elbows, hands.
I like all the other Dr. Jart products I’ve acquired recently — the gel-cream, the lotion, the face cream,
the lip balm.
Colouring : I wear KVD Lock it Foundation in shade Medium N2
Fave look : MAC Whenever You Call over lid with UD Smog on outer V and in crease
Most Used Product : am trying to finish a perfume : L’Occitane Amber and Santal. Have been refreshing this regularly to use it up. Only a few squirts left.
New Beauty Discovery : None.
