Skin tone: Medium Warm (MAC NC30)
Favorite look: I just uploaded it to Temptalia a few minutes ago, maybe it will be available for other members to see by tomorrow. It was a warm look using Anastasia’s Subculture Palette, a warm terracotta cheek, and a combination of UD’s Anatomy, UD’s Epigram, and NAR’s lip gloss in Aragon.
Most used product of the week: Lancome’s Teint Idole Ultra foundation.
New discoveries: It was a week of discovering great lip combos! One of those is listed above in my favorite look. Another was Lancome’s Mauvelle lip liner, Lancome’s All Done Up, and Buxom’s lip polish in Stacy. Friday’s lip look was Lancome’s Nude lip liner, Estee Lauder’s Intense Nude, and Jouer lip topper in St. Tropez.
My skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look you wore: a very simple one Stila Chinois on the lid (it’s sort of skin-colour on me and covers my veins and discolouration) with MAC Cork in the crease – I wore this for much of the week with Sephora Cappuccino or GOSH Metallic Brass to line, MAC Sweet Sentiment blush, concealer and all that jazz, Marc Jacobs black skinny liner on upper waterline and MAC Brick-o-la (even though it’s fairly new, it’s just starting to smell a bit “off” so I want to use it up FAST) or Capricious on lips.
Most used product of the week: Brick-o-la for the reason detailed above, and Embryolisse cream.
Any new beauty discoveries: Smashbox Night Shoot and MAC’s new Waterweight Concealer (both are new purchases I’m really happy with)
Sad to hear about your MAC Brick-o-la Lipstick, Mariella. But not surprised, though, because some of my MAC lipsticks have gone and turned, too. Modesty did. Royally Riotous did. Thank goodness I did buy a b/up of RR! It’s in my refrigerator, LOL.
Oh the things people might find in our fridges, Nancy! I remember waaay back in the distant past when people wore angora sweaters and, apparently, the way to keep those from fluffing all over the place was to keep them in the fridge (or maybe freezer) between wearings. Then it was nylons and tights – there was information going around (true or not, who knows) that if you stored them in the freezer before wearing them, it would prolong their life and help prevent runs. My sis in law always kept her nail polishes in the fridge. Now, I understand, it’s jeans…instead of washing them (EVER!!!), you toss ’em into the freezer (in a Zip Loc bag, I would hope). Lipstick seems positively sane by comparison!
Okeee…. throwing dirty jeans in the freezer makes storing lipsticks in my salad drawer sound relatively sane, in retrospect! I do remember my friend saying that she kept her mohair sweater in the freezer, but since mohair breaks me out in severe hives, I never had to do anything quite that drastic. She did say it would prevent my angora blend sweaters from shedding, too. Never tried it, though!
Lol, bec I have a mini fridge loaded up with things I expect will turn…Nars old formula lips…all of them, plus other stuff, s/c, etc. That fridge seemed sillyish at the time, but was a really good idea. To play the heretic card, I think maybe some of these lippies need more preservatives! MACs do tend to go off for me, too.
My skin tone/coloring: fair/warm
Favorite look you wore: Bare Minerals Queen Phyllis Glimmer Eyecolor, Bare Minerals Wearable Brown Medium Eyecolor, Bare Minerals Faux Mink Eyecolor, Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner (deluxe sample), Laura Geller Diamond Dust Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator (deluxe sample), Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush in Pearlescent Pink, Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipstick in Sheer Liar, LA Girl HD Concealer in Green, elf Flawless Finish Foundation in Natural/Porcelain, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, and Essence Make Me Brow Gel.
Most used product of the week: Revlon Cream Eyeshadow in Praline
Any new beauty discoveries: I bought the Nude Elegance loose eyeshadow set from Bare Minerals last week for $10 and free shipping… They’re wonderful!
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look you worn: EYES — UD Primer Potion in Enigma. NARS Narcissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow palette: Ursa Major all over the eye; Sycorax to deepen the crease and outer corners; Europa on brow bone and inner corners. Notoriously Morbid Mercy (First American Vampire Palette) patted over the lid over the Ursa Major. UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Perversion (upper and lower waterlines). UD Troublemaker Mascara. Powder from e.l.f. Brow Duo in Medium Brown (brows). CHEEKS — My Pretty Zombie Drugs Like Me Blush in MDMA (the maker is a pharmacist inspired by the chemistry and is not condoning casual drug use). LIPS — Ciate Glitter Flip in Iconic lined with Nyx Suede Matte Lip Liner in Oh, Put It On. FACE — e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain (now Natural) mixed with Kat von D Lock-It Foundation in 42 Light for a coverage boost. Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in Bavarian Cream (spot conceal acne). E.l.f. HD Powder in Sheer. Sephora Tranquil (contour). City Color Cosmetics Intense Exposure Highlighting Powder. E.l.f. Original Mist & Set.
Most used product of the week: E.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain (now called “Natural”) mixed with Kat von D Lock-It Foundation in 42 Light to boost the coverage, and Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in Bavarian Cream (I’m still covering the remnants of a bad cystic acne breakout). UD Troublemaker Mascara. ABH e/s single in Love Letter for my eyebrows.
Any new beauty discoveries: Meeshalou Cosmetics. They’re a UK brand with some beautiful palettes. I ordered their Witchcraft Palette, which is full of greens and teals. I can’t wait for it to get here.
Also, I’m liking UD x Kristen Leanne Bun Bun more every time I wear it. I thought it was just OK at first, but it’s proving to be one of those shades that goes with everything.
Isn’t Ursa Major a fabulous eyeshadow? I wish they’d release it as a full sized single because, pricey as the Nars DE shadows are, that is one I’d buy in a heart-beat.
It’s a great shade for a super-easy smokey eye for me, and so pretty. I’m trying to use my Dual-Intensity Palette more. I paid enough for it. lol
Oh, I know, but when you consider the price of those shadows individually, it was a great option. Personally, I’d have swapped 2 colours – Sycorax and Europa – for Dione and Callisto. I was surprised the other day to look at what Sephora still had in these shades and the selection online at least is dwindling, which has me thinking they might be discontinuing them so if I want Dione, I should grab it soon.
That’s why I bought it, to try the formula for a great price vs. buying individually. I would swap some shades out for more mid-tones, myself.
Skintone / coloring : light, MAC NC 15-20, medium brown hair and eyes
Favorite look worn : MAC Rubenesque paint pot, MAC Amber Lights eyeshadow on lid. MAC Bamboo and Rule in the crease. Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow in Creme Brulee on browbone. MUFE Aqua Eyes XL Black Eyeliner to tightline. Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara. MAC Melba blush.
Most Used Products : Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara. MUFE Aqua Eyes XL Black Eyeliner. Clinique Even Better Foundation. NYX Matte Not Flat Foundation Powder
New beauty discoveries : None I can think of!
My skin tone/coloring: Fair with pink undertones.
Favorite look you wore: I was happy with a very plummy look I did on Monday. I did a halo eye with several shades from the Viseart Amethyst palette (I think my favorite shade might be the lightest shimmer used for inner corner highlight). I used the Bite multistick in Gelato for blush, and Bite Amuse Bouche Rhubarb on lips.
Most used product of the week: Benefit They’re Real Tinted Lash Primer under Stila Huge Extreme Lash mascara.
Any new beauty discoveries: I’ve been trying out the Milani eyeshadow primer. So far I’m liking it better than the Wet N Wild.
My skin tone/coloring:
Deep- warm
Favorite look you worn:
I did a simple look with a red lip. I used Lancôme teint idole -applied sheer, Nars loose powder to set my t zone, black eyeliner (just in my lash line for thickness) , mascara and urban decay rock steady on the lips.
Most used product of the week:
L’Oréal silkissme black liner. I’ve really enjoyed this. It’s really black and doesn’t budge.
Any new beauty discoveries: I just got a sample of the Marc jacobs shameless foundation and I like it. I usually wear sheer to medium coverage and this is medium. I love the color match and it has spf. After I finish my Ysl B.B. cream (it’s discontinued) I will probably purchase this foundation.
Skin tone: Very pale with cool undertones, MAC NW 5-10
Favorite look worn: I used the Viseart Tryst palette the day after I received it from Beautilish and all the other times I wore makeup this week. I essentially tried to copy the look that Tarababyz did during her swatch/review of the Tryst palette. I used my Chosungah 22 foundation in 01 Porcelain. For blush I used Hourglass Diffused Light, Hourglass Diffused Bronzer Light and Viseart Finishing Powder. I used the Viseart Eye Primer and set the primer with a neutral shade from my ABH MOD REN palette. I can’t remember the name but is the matte beige/peach shade in the upper left hand corner. I have serious pan on this shadow so will have to find something else to set my primer’s with in the future. I used Dangereuse as transition, Liason tighter in the crease, Illicit to darken the outer V, Paramour, Darling and Flirt on the mobile lid with Stila Glitter and Glow in Wanderlust in the center of the lid. I used Becca Pearl as inner corner highlight. I used Lancôme pencil Amethyst in lower lash line. I lined my lips with Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pink Venous and I didn’t have the exact shade of lipstick that Tara used but I used Guerlain Kiss Kiss in Sexy Coral.
Most loved product: The aforementioned palette, Tryst and the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pink Venus. I didn’t know if I would like it or not but the light brownish peach is so versatile I think I will be using it a lot.
New beauty discoveries: My new makeup brushes, both the Wayne Goss and the Hakuhodo brushes. Like I needed another high end product that I just can’t live without, LOL!!
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Favourite look you worn: The other day I used a couple of shades from my Huda Beauty Smokey – dark brown in crease, taupe on lid, gold in corner and a touch of blue on the mobile lid, with my new EA lipstick in Cayene Pearl on.
Most used product of the week: Sunscreen, sunscreen and sunscreen……La Roche Posay’s Ultra light 50+ and Nivea Body Moisturing Sunscreen 50+
Any new beauty discoveries: I cleaned out my lipstick bag and got rid of a few nearly finished and oldies. I also found a few that I had forgotten about, or even thought that I had lost, like the Besame lipstick iin red/orange and a MAC one. So it was like finding new lipsticks to wear. I even gave them all a new, larger home too, which will make finding the one I want easier.
First, thanks to all for their helpful comments on pink eyeshadow. Glad I’m not the only one!
My skin tone/coloring: light medium
Favorite look you worn: I went out with just Marc Jacobs Dew Drops blended in and a light brush of Meteorites (which frankIy purchased as they are so dang cute and I love them on my vanity). It felt very light and I had used just a Taupe Bobbi Brown crayon for shadow, a bit of Rose Gold powder under my brows, and my new Slow Burn Marc Jacobs lipstick. I had forgot to put on blush! Anyway it felt light and natural and it felt fresh.
Most used product of the week: La Mer The Moisturizing Cream (I have a bunch of sample jars that I’m slowly using as I can’t afford the actual real size). It shows improvement nearly immediately. Thus, I was meant to be rich.
Any new beauty discoveries: I discovered the Eva NYC shampoo/conditioner gave me cysts, yes, hard pimple dime-sized cysts all over my neck when I used it for just a few days. Stopped it and they went away. Super gross. I also found that the new Scent Olympea Intense is really lovely. For makeup, I splurged on the new Chantecaille Philanthropy blush in Laughter (with the bee) which is just adorable and looks nice. I had returned the Chantecaille highlighter that looked like sequins and pearls as when it was put on, it was Viva Las Vegas, seriously WAY too blingy and trashy looking.
And by the way, ladies, March 7-11 for the Barney’s bags! $200 buy in with lots of step-ups. Start saving!!!!
Amy
My skin tone/coloring: Fair/light, cool to neutral undertones, NW 15-20, w/ some redness
Favorite look you wore: FACE: Primer: Cover FX Calming Primer
Foundation: KGD Aqua Foundation (2 pumps) +1/2 pump of the IT Cosmetics CC Cream in Light (the light shade is way too dark for me in winter to wear it alone).
Setting powder: None on the face, only to set/illuminate the under eye area (Hourglass Ambient in Diffused Light)
EYES: As I don’t have much time in the morning when I do my makeup and as it’s still dark and cold here, I used LM Caviar Sticks in Vanilla Kiss as a base + Amethyst. Eyeliner: Marc Jacob in (Earth)quake.
LIPS: Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob + YSL Tatouage Liquid Lipstick in Nude Emblem/ Marc Jacob Kiss Kiss Bang Bang/ LM Lipstick in Damask/Clinique lipstick in Bare Pop/Nudestix Lip Pencil in Pulse.
Most used product of the week: the combo primer & foundation mentioned above.
Any new beauty discoveries: From Chanel Dernières Neiges collection for spring 2018: the eye quad – 302Première Éclosion and the face compact Premières Fleurs Harmony of Powders. Love the softness of the eyeshadows and the fact that you can use them to get a soft look or build up the intensity. The compact has a silvery overspray that goes away after the first/second use; you can use the colours individually (you would need a narrow brush for the middle one), but I prefer to swipe and get a mix of all three.
Skin tone – I was told in Boots yesterday that I am Natural Wheat. I have medium coloured skin with yellow undertones.
Am panning various items at the moment- MAC Whenever You Call eyeshadow , Urban Decay Easy blush and Marc Jacobs Jetaime lipstick. The lipstick will be finished today. Will put this on wish list. I’ve also been wearing a Laura Geller eyeshadow called Fresco with NARS Decour blush and the MJ lipstick.
Most used is the lipstick above.
New discovery: I bought the No7 cuticle cream and my cuticles feel more nourished already this morning.
My skin tone/coloring: fair and cool skin, brown hair with red highlights and a few blue and blonde strands (all natural!), gray eyes. I can wear just about any color, but I tend to look better in cool colors and yellow definitely washes me out.
Favorite look worn: Friday I wore a red shirt and tailored my makeup to go with it-Urban Decay Slowburn (RIP) eyeshadow, an old and long-discontinued CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe Black Cabernet mascara I’ve managed to resurrect with saline drops and use down to the dregs (I know about the dangers of using old mascara-I’m planning to replace it with Sephora V for V.O.L.U.M.E. Marsala), L’Oreal Colour Riche Ruby Flame lipstick.
Most used product of the week: My base products-L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Creamy Natural C3 foundation, Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Ivory concealer, CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder Creamy Natural (I believe the number is 120?), Bellapierre Autumn Glow mineral blush.
Any new beauty discoveries: I only just found out about the discontinuation of Urban Decay’s Electric palette, and I’m really sad about it-I have a color addiction and the Electric shades were the perfect eyeshadows for me.
Oh! I just remembered I didn’t use Slowburn on Friday-I used the shimmery brick red shade from the LA Colors FYX: Bronze eyeshadow palette. The combination of lighter, warmer red shadow and darker, cooler red lipstick looked really cool.
