In this next look at Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.09 oz.), we’re featuring several of the beige and brown shades available in the range. Please see part one for a more in-depth review of the formula overall.

Liar Lipstick ($22.00) is described as a “pinky-brown nude.” It is a warm, rosy, medium brown with a creamy and luminous finish. It had full color coverage when applied, and the color glided on evenly and smoothly. It lasted four hours when I wore it. NYX Haute Melon is warmer, sheerer. Guerlain Quand Vient l’Ete is darker. Burberry Devon Sunset is lighter. See comparison swatches.

Lovelight Lipstick ($22.00) is described as a “pale peachy-pink shimmer.” It’s a subdued, warm-toned pink-coral with soft gold shimmer. Though there are two shades described as sheer by Urban Decay, this shade wasn’t one of them–and it is obviously semi-sheer. This shade lasted three and a half hours on me. Revlon Lover’s Coral is less shimmery, pinker. Tom Ford Frolic is warmer. NYX Haute Melon is brighter. See comparison swatches.

Naked 2 Lipstick ($22.00) is described as a “medium beige-nude.” It’s a warm-toned, peach-beige with a luminous sheen. This shade was extra creamy and had more slip than other shades, so it tended to move around a bit and if you pressed your lips together, it would leave lines. This shade wore well for three and a half hours on me. Edward Bess Forbidden Flower is darker, warmer. MAC Sweet & Sour is slightly brighter. NARS Biscyane Park is very comparable. MAC Delectable is more matte, slightly darker. MAC Cozy Up is slightly darker. See comparison swatches.

Protest Lipstick ($22.00) is described as a “sheer peachy nude.” It’s a medium-dark, subdued coral with a soft sheen. It wasn’t sheer, peachy, or nude (beige); it was fully pigmented at the very least. It lasted four and a half hours on me. MAC Style Surge is lighter. MAC Lady at Play is darker, brighter. See comparison swatches.

Strip Lipstick ($22.00) is described as a “sheer medium mauve-nude.” It’s a subdued, plummy brown with a luminous sheen. It had full color coverage (not in the least bit sheer!) and applied evenly. This shade wore well for four and a half hours when I tried it. Bobbi Brown Soft Nude is more beige. MAC Spice is comparable. Guerlain Avarice is brighter. Giorgio Armani #526 is more shimmery. Burberry Antique Pink is more matte. See comparison swatches.

Dammit, UD, where’s my Midnight Cowboy lipstick? What happens when I run out? Huh?

I did read the first review, but I didn’t quite see this mentioned–do you think it FEELS like the old formula? The smell/taste thing doesn’t bother me one way or another (though the smell kinda makes me happy), but if the formula feels drastically different, I’m going to end up having to go swatch and debate and hem and haw over buying one of the new ones. (Probably Naked. I never got my hands on the first version of Naked.)

No, I think it’s fairly different – I mean, it IS lipstick so it’s not like applying sandpaper vs. silk or anything that drastic. The older formula was a lot sheerer overall – more sheer to medium coverage with a higher amount of slip and slickness. These are creamy, but not as “wet” generally. Lovelight is the only one that might be comparable in feel overall.

All right, thanks! I may not end up as enamored of this formula, then, but we’ll see. I can’t not try them, but I might end up disappointed. But I probably will look closely at Lovelight, I already thought the color was pretty.

I love Liar and Protest! I’ve been looking for a colour like them. What’s the difference between the two colours? And is the formula for Liar better than the one for Protest, or are they the same?

Danielle Avatar

These are only a few of the new UD lipsticks, there’s 22! I bet you’ll find one you love if you look at the other temptalia pages for different color families 😀

Ah, NEED Liar and Strip now. So let’s see that’s Liar, Strip, Manic, Naked, Obsessed – well I guess all of them to be honest 🙂

Thanks for the swatches! It’s so helpful to see these and read the descriptions before buying online. How does Naked 2 compare to MAC Cherish?
