Urban Decay Fuel, 1993, Obsessed Hi-Fi Shine Lip Glosses Reviews & Swatches
Fuel
Urban Decay Fuel Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss ($20.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a muted, medium coral with fine gold pearl. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to mostly opaque coverage with a second layer. The consistency was lightweight, smooth and gel-like without being tacky, and it was comfortable to wear with the lightly moisturizing formula. It wasn’t quite as plush nor as smoothing as other shades in the line, though.

Formula Overview
$20.00/0.23 oz. - $86.96 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "ultra-shiny" with a "cushiony-soft" texture that has "long-lasting wear that's comfortable, not tacky." They are scented with "vanilla-mint," which I did detect, and I could taste slightly (more like a vague sweetness). There was a slight minty tingle upon initial application, but it was very subtle and more of a cooling sensation than anything painful.
The strength of the formula is the texture of the gloss--more gel-like with a plushness that often smoothed out my lip lines rather than settled into them as some glosses are prone to do. Most shades applied well, were comfortable to wear, and lasted between three and five hours on me with light hydration.
The coverage varies based on finish, with "Sheer Cream" having the sheerest coverage and "Cream" having "pigment-rich" coverage (opaque). The two other finishes--Holographic and Metallized--are supposed to have more medium, buildable coverage, per the brand. I think that the brand could have done a better job describing the coverage levels both by finish as well as by shade, though.

1993
Urban Decay 1993 Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss ($20.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a medium, caramel brown with warm, golden undertones and a high-shine finish. The consistency is where the gloss excels–it’s plush, gel-like with very little tackiness, but it adhered well to the lips and smoothed out my lip lines (rather than filling them like some glosses). It had semi-opaque coverage that went on evenly and lasted for four hours on me. The formula was lightly hydrating over time.

Obsessed
Urban Decay Obsessed Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss ($20.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a soft, light-medium pink with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish. It was part of the “Sheer Cream” finish, so the semi-sheer coverage was expected. I think that the product itself was rather even, but the way it brought out the natural pink tones in my natural lip color made it appear uneven (as my lip color itself isn’t perfectly even, so combined with the sheer, pink color, the end result was more my fault than the product’s). The gloss had a lightweight, smooth, and plush feel on my lips and helped to smooth out my lip lines. It wore well for three hours on me but was lightly hydrating.

Really loving the 1993 Hi-Fi Shine gloss.
These are way too sheer for my liking.
I’m really digging Fuel and 1993! Especially 1993, though, as it doesn’t remind me of anything else I have, I don’t think? Plus, that plushness is just wowing me!
Unless a gloss from this release gets raving reviews and an A+ I don’t think I’ll get any of them. Many of them are pretty, but I prefer MAC glosses over most any other, I’m strange that way 🙂
Nothing can top the scent of a MAC gloss. I wish they would bottle it and sell it already, haha!
Yes!
I’m reeeeally intrigued by the way you’re describing the consistency of these glosses. I might pick out my favorite to buy once you’re done reviewing them.
I’m really intrigued by these glosses. I might have to get a MLBB shade, I’ve found myself reaching for glosses when my lips are too parched from my constant use of liquid lipsticks. Fuel or 1993…I’ll have to do an swatch in store, I guess! 🙂
I really like the look of these on the lips – plus, these shades are really pretty!
