Urban Decay Comeback & Kinky Vice Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Comeback
Urban Decay Comeback Vice Liquid Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark, rosy mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had opaque color payoff in a single layer, which dried down quickly and did not pull apart at my lip lines. I was surprised at how smooth after it dried down, as it felt very dry and almost chalky to me. The texture was thin but spreadable, but the dry down made it feel clingy. It lasted for five hours but had noticeable flakiness after three hours of wear. The formula was drying on me.

Formula Overview
$18.00/0.17 oz. - $105.88 Per Ounce
The Vice Liquid Lipstick formula is supposed to be “intensely pigmented” with “complete coverage in one coat” and “nondrying wear” that is “comfortable” and “waterproof.” The majority of the Metallized shades are not even close to one-coat coverage–maybe three or four or coats!–and did not layer evenly, plus they had a tendency to lose sparkle/glitter through wear. Whenever a shade wasn’t opaque in one coat, it often looked streaky or uneven. There were some shades that had fantastic, one-coat coverage, while others featured more medium, buildable coverage but several applied uneven, patchy, and didn’t level or improve after drying down even with a second layer.
The consistency of the formula was smooth, lightweight, and comfortable to apply, but the dry down was lengthy and some shades never fully felt dry (instead, lightly tacky). There was a learning curve to applying and wearing these, too, as they were unforgiving if you accidentally press your lips together before the formula has dried down–the formula is quite tacky as it dries down and pressed lips together results in color lifting away. The wear varied from shade to shade (and between finishes) from four to eight hours, and so far, most were true to the nondrying claim, at least. I didn’t notice any scent or taste with them.
They were difficult to remove compared to most products; I had the best luck saturating a cotton pad with eye or lip makeup remover (Neutrogena, Lancome, Shiseido, etc.), yet curiously were not that long-wearing on me (relative to liquid lipsticks)–they seemed to develop a little tackiness with any meal or drink (even just water) and degraded from there. Overall, the formula was extremely disappointing after the successful Vice lipstick launch last year.

Kinky
Urban Decay Kinky Vice Liquid Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium, peachy coral with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation, though it would take a second layer for full coverage. The consistency was thin, watery, and difficult to apply evenly to the lips, even after I waited for the dry down–there were noticeable patchiness and visible streakiness. On me, the lipstick color stayed on well for five hours but faded strongly away from the center, while the formula was fairly drying.

Comeback is so pretty, but too bad it got such a low rating. I’ll stick with the A-rated dupe on the list that I already own: KVD Lovecraft. Christine, thank you for doing these dupe lists…theyre SO helpful!
Sure thing!
Neither, please.
I was hoping these would perform like Brat and Back Talk which were 2 of the more neutral shades I have from the first launch that applied and wore well for me.I really like these colors but they just have so many issues.Kinky is my kind of shade but I won’t be purchasing this. The inconsistency in their Liquid Lipstick formula is really strange it is just all over the place. The worst one I’ve wore so far was Firebird so patchy and weird.
My request in an open letter to Urban Decay: STAAAHP IT!!! These liquid lipsticks are just NOT your forte. Please, please just stick with your fabulous, much adored Vice tube Lipsticks and Revolution Lip Gloss formulas, alright?
To Christine; you have my sympathies having these life’s moisture sucking, dry as the desert lipsticks on for 5 hours each! You’re a trooper!
I wish comeback was cooler toned ever so slightly and better 🙁
The colors are beautiful but look painful on the lips. I don’t like that pulling clingy sensation from my lip color
Pretty colors but appear much too dry and matte applied. My lips hurt looking at them!
Comeback is a beautiful shade! Wish it was a better formula!
