Throwin' Suede

Too Faced Throwin’ Suede Intense Color Coconut Butter Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium, plummy taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had rich color payoff that applied in an even, smooth layer in a single stroke. The texture was lightweight, lightly creamy without being too slippery or heavy, and comfortable to wear. The color stayed on well for five hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$22.00/0.12 oz. - $183.33 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" with a "balmy, hydrating texture" that has "8 hour long-wearing color." The range is quite pigmented with a smooth, lightly balm-like consistencies--creamy enough to glide on easily but not so soft that it felt too creamy or melted on (denser than the brand's La Cremes). The majority of the shades applied evenly on my lips and lasted between four and six hours but none made it to eight. They were lightly hydrating overall. They were supposed to have a coconut scent, but I could barely detect anything; there was slight creaminess but it was very nondescript to me.

It has very similar packaging to MAC's Liptensity range, and now that both brands are under the Estee Lauder umbrella, a comparison of ingredients shows that they have similar bases, but some ingredients are out of order (but there) but Too Faced's formula has the inclusion of coconut butter/oil and is vegan (at least some of MAC's shades include carmine). To me, Too Faced took MAC's formula and made tweaks based on what they preferred in it (or not in it), but they're definitely similar with respect to how they look at the end of the day. I applied the two side-by-side (one on each half of my lips), and MAC's Liptensity formula is tackier with a bit more cling whereas Too Faced's Intense Color formula has more slip and seems lighter-weight. I definitely noticed that I was wearing lipstick less with Too Faced's formula. That being said, that lack of tackiness is what I attribute to shorter wear time. I don't think that they feel like night and day different; I can just feel subtle differences. They are the same in size, but Too Faced's is $22.00 and Liptensity is $21.00.

Pout About It

Too Faced Pout About It Intense Color Coconut Butter Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium, rosy pink with strong, warm undertones and a cream finish. The texture was smooth, lightweight, and it felt a touch tacky with a slightly thinner texture compared to other shades in the range. The lipstick went on evenly and easily across my lips and didn’t emphasize my lip lines–it smoothed them slightly–with opaque coverage. It wore well for for five hours and was lightly moisturizing over time.

Throwin’ Suede is kind of amazing. I have a whole bunch of colors in my stash that sort of orbit around that color, but nothing exactly like it. [sigh] Oh well, don’t need it.

Both look really great for an “everyday” type shade that I could just keep in my bag! Especially, Pout About It. I don’t have any of its dupes!
As for Thowin’ Suede, I have MAC Among The Fireflies. Just not convinced I would need this one on top of it.

These look just like the Mac liptensity and have pretty much the same ingredients, looks like the ingredients are just in different order, I guess since they have the same parent company they are just sharing formulas? I love those so nice to have some new colours atleast. Do you find them to feel like the same formula?

I didn’t even realize there was a tab there! I googled everywhere looking for the liptensity ingredients, looked through my room trying to find a box for any of mine, ended up finding a picture of the box finally lol. Thank you 🙂

Hello,
Can you tell me if the Too Faced “Pout about it” shade is a dupe for Mac Liptensity “Smoked Almond” please ?
Thank you for yourte answer.
