Tom Ford Savage Cheek Color Review, Photos, Swatches

Tom Ford Savage Cheek Color ($55.00 for 0.28 oz.) is dirty red-brown. It’s hard to describe it, because it looks red, technically, but red brings images of bright, ruby reds to mind, whereas this is a much more muted red with a lot of brown to bring down the intensity. There’s a very faint sprinkling of gold shimmer that’s barely noticeable once applied. Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Intense (P, $40.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Scene to Be Seen (Inner) (LE, $34.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Chanel Evening Beige (340) (P, $45.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (80% similar). MAC Modern Mandarin (P, $24.00) is lighter (85% similar). MAC Taraji Glow (LE, $34.00) is brighter, cooler (80% similar). Clinique Fig Pop (P, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bite Beauty Almond (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (80% similar). Chanel Les Chaines de Chanel (LE, $70.00) is more shimmery, lighter (80% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Walk of No Shame (P, $40.00) is more shimmery, lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

What I like about Tom Ford’s blush range is the texture, and then after that, the buildable nature of the color itself. The texture is ridiculously soft, smooth, and feels dense, buttery–it almost feels like a cream blush because of how finely-milled and dense it is. You can build the color from a sheer flush to a more intense, true-to-pan color, if so desired. It doesn’t go on heavily, so you do not have to fear applying it, but it’s easily intensified without having to pack on the product. I continue to be impressed by the overall wear of the formula, too; Savage wore for a superb nine hours and was barely faded after ten.

This shade would be lovely on medium and medium-dark complexions in particular. It’s barely warm-toned, so it should be flattering on both warm and cool complexions, too. The only thing not to like is the price–at least Tom Ford gives plenty of product for the hefty price tag; it’s higher than average and definitely not skimpy. For reference, MAC blushes are 0.21 oz. and NARS blushes are 0.16 oz. each.

Ooh I love both Oasis and G-Spot. Too bad we don’t have Tom Ford cosmetics in my country lol. I’d love to try this someday tho.

This blush is stunning on you! I am also loving what’s on your lips, too. Gorgeous look, Christine! 🙂 Hope you have a great week!

Just wondering about the price.  You list it as $55 at the beginning of the review then at $59 at Nordstrom. Does it vary by store?

From the photos, and to me, that looks *identical* to NARS’ Torrid! I even brought my Torrid out to put it next to the monitor and… yep. Absolutely identical! I was talking with Miss J about how online photos/swatches of Torrid almost never make it like what it is (the photos always show something with pink tones) but I swear, if that Tom Ford blush were encased in black rubber, I would have thought someone had *finally* captured what Torrid looks like. Right down to the very faint, almost imperceptible shimmer. And the colour on me is exactly what this TF looks like on you. It’s a gorgeous blush and one of my go-tos, so people who shy away from Orgasm’s glitter or who can’t afford the Tom Ford price tag should look into Torrid.

@Kafka Interesting, because Torrid came to mind on this as well, but only in Christine’s swatches.  I’ve seen other photographs of the TF blush collection and this one reads significantly more brown in those.  That shimmer is in all of the colours and I love it!!!  I think torrid is a really wonderful choice as well.

@wwendalynne  Blush swatches are a thing of the devil! Seriously, no other product for me is so subject to wildly diverse photos/swatches.  Sure, lipsticks to some extent because of each person’s lip pigmentation and perhaps eyeshadows too, but blushes….. Gah! Truly the closest-to-reality swatches I’ve found have been from Christine because she is *super* careful about her lighting. (It doesn’t hurt that her skin shade is somewhat close to mine.)  So I can completely see how the TF blushes can be diff. on other sites. I’d venture Christine’s is probably the most accurate. After all, I’ve seen Torrid on over 30 diff. sites and only ONE of the 30 showed something identical to what I own.

I LOVE Tom Ford products and this blush looks absolutely fantastic on you!  Nordstrom has the lipsticks and I purchased a few of them and love them.  True, they are expensive, but hopefully they will last for a long time.  I thin down the formula a bit (since it goes on a little heavy) by using lip balm underneath the lipsticks.  I have not tested the blushes but have heard really great things about them (except the price, of course!).  I got the Tom Ford Shape and Illuminate (cream blush) and brow sculptor online and use them every day, they work very well.

Beautiful blush on you; hope it makes it way into your permanent collection. TF blushes are expensive, but if it wears so long, maybe it’s worth it!

another beautiful TF blush on you, Christina.  I’m curious how much you applied because it looks so wonderfully subtle on you.  How would you compare this shade to Flush?  Oohh, I just pulled up some comparison pictures and this one look quite a bit darker and browner.  Either way, I cannot say enough good things about this formulation either.  For me, it has just the right hit of shimmer without looking fake.  It is almost creamy in it’s application and I use a special brush for this blush which I do not have sitting in front of me to give you the number, but it is a MAC duo fibre blush brush.  Smallish in size, but the softer whitish side has a gentle enough touch to layer this blush very subtly and effectively.

I dont have any orange blushes, they are all pink or coral, but I LOVE how this looks on you! I have fair skin in the winter, light skin right now, and medium skin when I get back from the beach, and it looks absolutely stunning on you! I dont mind paying the price for blush because I use so very little and it lasts me ages. When I’m in SAKS I’ll stop by to get one! Stunning!
