Tom Ford In Deep & Fetishist Lip Color Matte Review, Photos, Swatches
In Deep
Tom Ford Beauty In Deep Lip Color Matte ($54.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a dark, red-brown with warm undefrtones anda satin finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, creamy consistency that felt velvety and glided on with ease. The lipstick applied evenly and did not emphasize my lip lines. It lasted for six hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$55.00/0.1 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "richly pigmented" and have a "luxurious, velvet matte finish." The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to fully opaque with lightweight, velvety textures--creamy enough to glide on nicely but not enough slip to feel slippery or slide around on the lips when worn. The wear time varied from shade to shade with richer shades lasting over six hours. The formula was comfortable to wear and often lightly hydrating. There's a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Fetishist
Tom Ford Beauty Fetishist Lip Color Matte ($54.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep, reddish plum with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer that applied evenly across the lips. The texture was lightweight, velvety, and just creamy enough not to skip when applied but did not slide around or feather over time. It wore well for six hours, left a stain behind, and was lightly moisturizing.

Beautiful shades that I’d love to have, but out of my price range (even if I wasn’t attempting a no-buy).
Nicest TF I’ve seen in awhile..
Fetishist is stunning and I love the finish on it also. I don’t have any of the dupes so I am adding it to my list for when I go to Spokane. I don’t love the name but then I am kind of a prude when it comes to makeup names. I like to be able to say them in public without being embarrassed.
GD these are gorgeous. Eyeing the dupes…..
Absolutely gorgeous shades and In Deep is my favourite. So monumentally expensive here in Aus.
Very rich and beautiful shades! Fetishist is that *perfect* shade of burgundy that I love wearing during the cooler weather, which I suppose is reflected by the fact that I already have MAC Dreaming Of You. It’s a favorite of mine!
In Deep doesn’t have any dupes in my stash that I’m aware of. But, I may grab Paramount when I bring in my Back 2 MAC!
Perfect color for fall. However, i own a very similar shade from Maybelline so going to skip this.
Today in went to NM in SF. Wanted to check out nightbloom powder you tested. I haven’t been to the counter in over a year. Different crew always there at TF. He goes, “what are you interested in, beautiful” (mind you, I am far from beautiful). I told him Soleil. Then he points to the Soleil collection. I say “nightbloom powder”. He says “not in” and walks away from me. Oh, well TF, this is why you lose me as a customer.
I have bought lots of TF when it came out. So much, I can’t even list here.
TF, you just lost a customer. You too, EL.
No surprise, as Suqqu reps at Harrods treat me well. International call and purchase.
I rather buy from Colour Pop anyway. Though the colours are limited at Dior, I will buy those lipsticks anyday.
I think this is why dept stores are losing business. Going to the stores we have to pay for parking…now even in shopping malls. I rather buy online like Beautylish or Net-0-porter and all those Indy brands. You sales rep including Sephora….will lose my business and your commission. Thank you Christine for this forum for me to vent.
Yes, this lipstick looks beautiful. Again, I rather go to Dior, or even Dolce a Gabanna for these reds.
How strange that he’d walk away and not expand on that or offer to get your number to call/mail when it got in. I haven’t been to Neiman Marcus in a long while, so that’s a disappointment to hear.
I was not looking chic, and SA was another new one on counter. They always change at TF. Never stay long. Yes, I kinda surprise he didn’t pursue the conversation. Perhaps he will not not be there by time the product arrives.
I tell them all when I get in a conversation with them, “I been wearing makeup before you were born”. No customer service these days.
It’s sad that type of assumptive attitude still prevails, even in SF where someone with jeans and sneakers can have far more money than someone with a designer handbag and outfit.
I had a similar experience at Nordstrom’s in Downtown Seattle. I was looking for the fall collection for Chanel and the associate answered my question and then just walked away without even asking if there was something else she could get for me, telling me when they expect it or anything. As I was walking away a male associate who was the representative for Cle de Peau stopped me and asked if he could show me a similar product in the Cle de Peau line. He did and it was and I purchased it. I do think that overall, Nordstrom’s has good customer service but now I will shop in Spokane for Chanel. The gentleman contacts me periodically to see if there is anything I need. I don’t buy much from Cle de Peau as the prices give me heart failure but I do like the foundation I got from him, only for winter months, though. Beauty products are expensive and competition is fierce. Treating customers like they are bothering you is a sure fire way for your business to fail and shopping at brick and mortar stores is way down because of it.
Hearing these experiences makes me feel fortunate for the MUA contacts I have, though I don’t live in a big or pretentious city and Chanel is about as high end as it gets. I do get a little nervous approaching highend counters in larger cities like Chicago where luxury brands have a greater presence. (Though I had a good experience at both the TF and Charlotte Tilbury counters.) When I receive good service, I’m loyal and I spend more money. Poor service or poor skills do the opposite.
Both of them are gorgeous, but I’m leaning more towards In Deep. I’ll have to look at the dupes for it, but since it is permanent, if I don’t like any of the dupes I’ll probably buy the TF one later on.
I’m tempted by In Deep because TF Ben was my go to last autumn-winter. But maybe even the Pat McGrath would be high quality but much cheaper.
Both are gorgeous. On the wishlist they go.
