Tom Ford Electric Pink & Velvet Violet Lip Color Mattes Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Tom Ford Electric Pink (15) Lip Color Matte
Tom Ford Electric Pink (15) Lip Color Matte

Tom Ford Electric Pink (15) Lip Color Matte ($50.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a brightened, medium fuchsia-pink with strong, cool blue undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had opaque color coverage that glided on evenly and smoothly, as the texture was lightly creamy but not too slippery. It felt lightweight on, and while it lasted for six and a half hours easily, it was lightly drying towards the end. Kat Von D Backstage Bambi (P, $19.00) is lighter, more matte. NARS Michiyo (P, $32.00) is less matte. Too Faced Melted Fuchsia (P, $21.00) is brighter, glossy. Ardency Inn Twist (P, $25.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Flat Out Fabulous (P, $16.00) is darker, warmer. NARS Yu (P, $25.00) is more muted. MAC Quick Sizzle (LE, $16.00) is similar. MAC Pink Pigeon (P, $16.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Tom Ford Velvet Violet (16) Lip Color Matte ($50.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddish berry with cool, fuchsia-pink undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had fairly opaque coverage that applied evenly and smoothly without emphasizing lip lines. The color was still going strong after eight hours of wear, but I found it to be slightly drying after about four hours of wear. MAC D for Danger (P, $16.00) is warmer. Marc Jacobs Beauty Boy Gorgeous (222) (P, $30.00) is warmer. MAC Acai (LE, $16.00) is darker. Tom Ford Beauty Cooper (LE, $32.00) is lighter, less matte. Tom Ford Beauty Plum Lush (05) (P, $50.00) is warmer, lighter. MAC Fashion Revival (LE, $16.00) is darker. NARS Fanny (P, $32.00) is lighter, more muted, glossier. Marc Jacobs Beauty Headliner (608) (P, $28.00) is brighter. Tom Ford Beauty Pure Pink (P, $50.00) is lighter, less matte. Tom Ford Beauty Violet Fatale (P, $50.00) is more shimmery. These are both really pretty! I’ve had Velvet Violet in my Nordstrom cart for a few days, I think I’m going to bite the bullet now. Thanks for the review!

Gorgeous … both colours look stunning on you! I love the Tom Ford Matte formula, so I’ll definitely be picking these up. Thanks, Christine!

I picked both up about 10 days ago. They are both gorgeous. They look beautiful on you Christine. I love Tom Ford mattes. 🙂

I know this post is about the lipsticks, but Christine, your cheeks, wow! I can see why you love Tom Ford Love Lust, it looks stunning on you. I have it too, but I can’t say it looks as amazing on me as it does on you!

Hey Christine,

Are these new Tom Ford releases ? Because I’ve not heard about them. I have pussycat from the original, and it is a great color, but it does dry out my lips more than his regular line of lipsticks do. Velvet violet looks very interesting though ! You look beautiful as usual, wish u could carry of these bold shades as well as you do ! Xx

The lipsticks are beautiful but it’s the eye shadows that are killing me! Are those going to be reviewed in the coming days?

Hey Christine, apologies if you’ve previously written or answered this before, but what shade do you wear in the Guerlain Parure Gold? I have 3 and find it too dark, I also have 2 in Parure de Lumiere but that can be too light sometimes. These lipsticks look great on you – thanks for the review!

These are both just stunning on you! I have been eyeing Velvet Violet for a few weeks. I wish it got an A+ for the price. But its so pretty, I may have to get it and see if a balm under helps with the drying issue.I rarely wear lipstick for more than 5-6 hours without eating and reapplying anyhow. I like Electric Pink quite a bit as well. But it is pretty dupable for me and not a shade a tend to reach for now. So, I think I will wait on that one. Thank so much for getting these and taking the time to review! 🙂

Electric Pink is a beautiful shade although looks prettier and more special in the bullet that in the swatch. Electric Violet is stunning. It worth the splurge.

I’m sworn off electric pink.. I’m just so tired of it and rather how I felt about brown lipsticks a number of years ago. Now I am back doing a lot of 90’s style colours on my lips (thankfully without the overplucked brows, and the heavy handed lip liner). Anyhow, electric pink and I are OVER! (for whatever duration is needed in order for me to love again)

Now velvet violet is my kinda shade, but it looks suspiciously like other TF lippies I own. Indeed. I just took a gander over at the dupe list, I think it’s fairly safe to say I have this territory covered..and then covered again.

i love the look you put together for these. the warm eyes and cheeks paired with the cool lips is stunning on you! i really hope the are permanent-too much of my $$ is going to moving at the moment.

Now THIS is what I call a beautiful matte formula! Looks like creamy velvet on the lips, and beautifully pigmented. So tired of seeing arid, parched looking mattes, this is refreshing a gorgeous.

Virginie Avatar

Hi, Would you say Diva from Chanel could be a dupe for Electric pink?? I didn’t see you mentioning it….Thanks! Beautiful anyway..!

OMG!!!! I was checking them out on nordstrom.com and they are at $52!!!!!!!!!!! I noticed also the price increase on their eye shadow palette. Until where??
