Tarte Tartelette Tease Eyeshadow Palette

Tarte Tartelette Tease Eyeshadow Palette ($21.00 for .018 oz.) includes six neutral eyeshadows in a slim, cardboard palette with a mirror on the inside. I could see it being an easy go-to or travel palette for those who like warmer neutrals and typically use a primer when they apply their eyeshadow. It’s not a particularly unique or the best performing palette, but it’s solid and a decent value.

Whisper is described as a “light pink.” It’s a light, peachy-beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nice color payoff with a soft, silky consistency that was a smidgen powdery but very blendable. It wore well for eight hours on me. Too Faced Peach Butter (PiP, $16.00) is cooler (95% similar). MAC Elemental (LE, $17.00) is more muted (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Flesh (LE, ) is cooler (95% similar). LORAC Cozy (LE, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Rose in the Air #5 (PiP, ) is darker (95% similar). LORAC Bare (PiP, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty About Last Night No. 09 (LE, ) is cooler (95% similar). NARS Nassau (DC, $25.00) is darker (95% similar). Tarte Flower Child (PiP, ) is darker (95% similar). Crush is described as a “taupe shimmer.” It’s a sparkling, bronzy brown with warm undertones and a metallic finish and chunkier sparkle. The texture was drier and dusty with some of the sparkles coming loose from the base color, which made it messy to work with and to apply. The color was prone to sheering out on the skin, so I would highly recommend a primer or possibly a creamier, tackier base to minimize fall out with this one. MAC Crushed Clove (PiP, $17.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Buxom Style Icon (P, $12.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). NARS Telesto (P, $29.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Heartbreaker is described as a “brown.” It’s a muted, medium-dark chocolaty brown with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was buildable to opaque coverage in two layers. It blended out well and applied without issue. The color lasted for eight hours on me. It stayed on for seven and a half hours but had fall out. Viseart Grande Pro (Vol. 1) #9 (LE, ) is cooler (95% similar). LORAC Tails & Top Hats #2 (LE, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). Kevyn Aucoin Coco (LE, ) is lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Suckerpunch (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). LORAC Walnut (LE, $19.00) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). Natasha Denona Arrosto (185CM) (PiP, ) is cooler (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Wink is described as a “light mauve.” It’s a light-medium pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It was slightly dusty, but it blended nicely on the skin. It’s the type of texture that may not work well on drier skin types without a primer. The color started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear. MAC Pale, Please (LE, $17.00) is lighter (95% similar). Dior Golden Shock #4 (LE, ) is warmer (95% similar). Tarte Popcorn Strand (LE, ) is warmer (95% similar). First Kiss is described as a “mauve shimmer.” It’s a medium taupe brown with warm undertones and a soft, pearly shimmer. It had excellent color payoff with a soft, blendable texture that worked easily on bare skin and lasted for eight hours. Anastasia Custom (P, $12.00) is warmer (95% similar). BFF is described as a “plum.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned plummy burgundy with a matte finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, silky consistency. This shade was a little patchy to blend out on my eyelid without primer, but I think a primer would help it in that respect. The color lasted for seven and a half hours on me. Viseart Illicit (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (95% similar). Urban Decay Ashes (PiP, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Too Faced Chocolate Donut (LE, $16.00) is darker (95% similar). Oh no, Crush is the prettiest color but it’s a D+, but sound like it’s fixable with primer or cream base. Otherwise, it’s a nice set of workhorse, classic colors and nice for travel or touch ups

I bough this thinking it would be like so much better like the other Tartelette palettes. I’m pretty disappointed. I see overlap too in the other two big palettes and really don’t have a need to carry shadows. If I travel I want a nice shadow palette. I’ve had it waiting until I can get to the mall to return it.

Love that you reviewed this as I was curious about dupes. I bought this in stores as soon as it came out as I have & love both tartelette palettes. This one is great for me to keep in my purse. I didnt have any issues with any of the shadows but then again I not only used a primer but also a mac paint pot so even the shimmer shades had something to stick to. Love this little guy!

Another nice little travel palette! Or in my case, useful for those days where I am up early, in a hurry, leaving house with just face mu, brows, e/s primer, tightline, cateye, and mascara. Doing e/s, lips, and sometimes blush on the way to wherever. Me thinks this too shall be mine! Especially since Halcyon Nights isn’t so easy to do on a bus, LoL!
Another plus is that it’s green/hazel eye friendly!

It is a cute palette for travel, keep in the purse or at work. I am still trying really hard to not buy a lot of makeup so I think I am going to pass on this. But I am glad to see it got a decent rating overall for those that do want to get it.

Sarah Avatar

I bought this yesterday before your review, and I love it! It works well with a primer and I enjoy having lighter shades in a mini palette for my medium skin tone.

Andrea Avatar

The only colour that really stands out to me is BFF. I feel like I have dupes for the rest of them. I can’t convince myself to get a palette for only one colour (and I’m usually pretty good at convincing myself that I need things lol), so this will be a skip for me.

Mimi Avatar

i am kind of on the fence about this pallette. i got this because all my other pallettes are too bulky for travel and i needed something compact. i saw this and i ws excited because it has the neutrals for a daytime look and also some shimmering ones for my nights out. i agree with you that it’s pigmented as well as long wearing but the neutral shades were a tad powdery for my liking. the shimmering ones were a nightmare!! soooo many fall outs!!! should you get this pallette? if you are beginner and you don’t already have a million pallettes in your collection, yeah go ahead. otherwise, just give it a pass.
