Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow to Go Highlight & Contour Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Tarteist Pro Glow to Go
Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow to Go Highlight & Contour Palette ($23.00 for 0.24 oz.) includes two highlighters and one contour powder. It’s a compact trio housed in a slim, black cardboard palette that had a velvety feel on the outside (like NARS’ packaging in a way). I think it will work for someone who likes warmer, more intense highlighters and has use for the tone and depth of contour powder. The problem with something like this is that it’s just not going to work for all skin tones and undertones (I always want brands to at least put out a cool and warm version, if not a light/medium/dark).

Gleam
Gleam is a light, golden beige with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. The color coverage was intense–a little went a long way–while the finish was high-shine and very reflective. If you prefer subtle highlighters, then I don’t think this palette will be for you! It had a smooth, dense but not stiff texture that was blendable and easy to apply. Despite having a very high sheen, it did not emphasize pores or my skin’s natural texture. This shade lasted for eight and a half hours on me.

Burst
Burst is a bright, creamy yellow with a golden frosted shimmer. It was richly pigmented with a soft, smooth, almost cream-like texture that had a stronger, almost powdery base. The texture felt like the shimmer wasn’t as mixed in with the underlying powder, so the shimmer tended to pull away from the powder a bit when blended on the skin. It still worked out on the skin, but I am not sure if this shade will work as well on all skin tones due to the base texture and color. The highlighter wore nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Chisel
Chisel is a muted, medium brown with subtle, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation with a firmer consistency, but it wasn’t too difficult to work with or to get color onto the brush, though it definitely seemed to improve after a few uses (the surface seemed to soften). It was fairly blendable but was best applied in sheerer layers to minimize buffing at the end. This shade lasted for eight hours on me before fading.

I like that this looks small and portable and the contour powder isn’t too red (I’d like it even better if it were more grey-toned still but it’s not bad). Might pick this up if it’s in stock next week.
Here’s hoping you can find it in-store soon!
Not bad….but it would appear that *perhaps* I’m covered by having last year’s Laura Mercier holiday trio, plus a couple other highlighters? Maybe not, though. Anywho; the quality looks quite nice!
You sound like you’re covered!
Glad it scored well, but like you said, these colors will only work on certain skintones. I like that foundation -looks like a good color match and good coverage
I’m using two or three shades to get it to match, haha!
I like the look of this! Especially now t hat I’ve FINALLY tried Tarte! Posted a look with my first eye and cheek palette from them on the blog today.
Yayyy!
Yeah, this would not work for me at all! Everything is warm; the contour would have to apply very subtly and blend like a dream to work on me; and the highlights are too reflective for my taste. I see this as a more dramatic offering than usual from Tarte, maybe with the thought of people putting together more dramatic looks for holiday parties coming up…
I hear ya, Fran! I could see more trios being necessary!
I’m really digging this palette but they are so tiny!! I really should have added this to my basket for the loyalty card event!
It’s not too small, IMO!
Omg your lip color! Looks so beautiful on you!!!
Thank you!
Chisel isn’t my color but the highlighters are nice.
Aw, darn!
I love your eye make-up and lipstick combination!
Thank you, Alex!
I like the highlighters, but that contour is too rosy-toned and dark.
Darn!
I love the idea here, but, need a fair/cool option. Maybe they’ll offer other palettes in the future. I hope.
I totally agree, Valerie!
Quite a lovely little contouring package if the shades suit.
That’s exactly how I felt, Genevieve!
Woewww ……
I need this in my life
It’s nice!
I’m sad because the Chisel shade looks like it would turn orange on me but those highlighters look nice. 😉
Awww!
Love Gleam
Awesome!
I heard it in a review for the larger sized contour palette of this, does the glitter or any shimmer fall into the contour powder?
I didn’t have that issue!
The highlighter has a very sheen finish and palette includes contour as well which is an indispensable element in make up to enhace the features.
Yes, the highlighters have a very high shine finish!
I was on the fence about this palette till I read your review. I definitely prefer this to the larger pro glow because it doesn’t have a cream contour. Right now tarte is having 30% and it’s ending soon. So if you’re interested snag it now
I may have missed where you said it, but how does the highlighter formula compare to Tarte’s standalone highlighters like Exposed?
It’s similar, though I think these are denser!
