Tarte Tarteist PRO Glow Palette
Tarte Tarteist PRO Glow Palette ($45.00 for 1.06 oz.) includes four highlighters, one cream contour, and one powder contour housed in a soft, velvety black cardboard palette. The formula of the powder products was denser, particularly for the highlighters, so there was not a lot of excess powder kicked up in the pan, and it made me less concerned about powder getting into the cream contour, but it’s definitely a possibility. The four highlighters were frosted to metallic, and they will be most suitable for someone who likes a shiny, more metallic highlight (rather than a subtle one). The cream contour has a more shadowy look and feel to it, while the powder contour is warmer and more bronze-like. The weakest product was the powder contour, as it was dustier and not as blendable as the other shades. It’s a good palette if you like highlighting and contouring and don’t already have an arsenal of options in your posession already.
Lit is a light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a frosted, golden shimmer-sheen finish. It was very pigmented with a denser consistency that was fairly smooth but had some looser sparkle to it when I swatched it. When I applied it using a highlighting brush on my cheeks, I didn’t notice any looseness in the pan. I fully expected this to accentuate the look of my pores and my skin’s natural texture, but it was shiny without doing so! It wore well for eight hours before fading on me. Fire is a medium, golden brown with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It was fully opaque in a single pass, though the texture was soft, smooth, and blendable that it could easily be sheered out if desired. The finish on this one did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture, but it didn’t hide it either (I felt like Lit was so reflective and fine in pearl that it almost made my skin appear smoother). On my skin tone, this worked as a highlighter as well as a highlighting bronzer, and it wore for eight hours. Anastasia 143 (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Rare Beauty Exhilarate (P, $25.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Side Piece (LE, $26.00) is lighter (90% similar). Shade is a muted, medium-dark taupe-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a soft sheen. The texture was lightly tacky, creamy with moderate slip but did not stay tacky over time. It dried down after a couple of minutes for the most part, but it remained fairly blendable and easy to work with on the skin. It lasted nicely for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably on me. Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Medium (PiP, ) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Coffee Walnut (LE, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). Strobe is a light beige with warm, peachy undertones and a pearly sheen. It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, silky, and smooth texture that was moderately dense but not stiff or difficult to use with a blush/highlighting brush. The powder blended out beautifully on the skin and left behind a high-shine glow that did not emphasize my skin’s texture. On my skin, the highlighter started to fade after eight hours of wear. Stunner is a light, peachy-pink with a cooler pink tone and warmer gold shimmer. It sometimes looked silvery against my skin tone, but other times, it was a warmer, peachy kind of color. The color was beautiful on, as it was highly reflective and easy to apply, but there was slight emphasis of my skin’s natural texture and my pores as this shade had a much more metallic finish. The highlighter was intensely pigmented, and the color stayed on well for eight hours. Tarte Stunner (P, $28.00)(100% similar). OFRA Pillow Talk (P, $29.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Sculpt is a muted, medium-dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a matte finish. It had good color payoff, which was buildable to fully opaque coverage in two layers. The consistency was thinner and more powdery compared to the other shades, though it felt very silky and finely-milled. It blended fairly well on the skin but wasn’t as effortless compared to the highlighters in the palette. I noticed fading with this shade after eight hours of wear. NARS Paloma Contour (PiP, ) is cooler (90% similar). Illamasqua Steal (P, ) is lighter (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty The Afternooner (Bronzer) (LE, ) is warmer (85% similar). Wow, impressive.
It’s pretty good!
Hi Christine,
Thank you so much for this review I have been waiting on this, I’ve been on the fence for it. I had a quick question if you can please help me, how do you compare the intensity/reflect of the highlight compared to Anastasia’s Sweet highlight palette? Thank you for your advice and opinion its greatly appreciated.
They are less sparkly and have more of a smoother sheen compared to the Anastasia highlighters!
Glad this got a good score, but I feel like these colors work best on warmer, medium skintones
I could see that!
I agree Katherine.
I have to agree as well, all but the two lightest shades could work for me and my pale skin.
It’s good but I’m passing!
Money saved 🙂
Whoa…if I didn’t already have a veritable motherlode of highlighters, I would JUMP on this. Stunner, Lit and Shade are amazing and so beautiful in application. Now to find a dead-on dupe for Stunner!
There are some beauties in this palette!
It is a good one but in think i am gonna pass because i want to try the makeup geek new highlighters 🙂
Totally understand, Claire!
I’m in love with the colours!! They don’t look too obnoxious and I’m so glad they included a cream formula in there!
Yay!
This is beautiful, but I seriously have no space left in my highlighters drawer.
No More for Me!
Resist! 😀
Do you think this would work for fair/very fair skin tones?
It would be less of a highlighting palette and more of a highlighting blush/contour palette.
I don’t want this, as I don’t contour, bu tit’s so nice to see palettes getting good grades. All the products looked really good on you, Christine.
Thank you, Helene!
Wow! I really love Shade and Stunner, and I like Strobe a lot, too. I didn’t expect to like this so much! I’m not sure how much I’d use the other three shades, though… hmmm…
It’s pretty, but I definitely prefer singles for that exact reason – you might not use all the ones in a palette!
Quite beautiful and it is pleasing to see Tarte get a good rating on something (anything).
Finally 😀
Now this is itttttt …..
absolutely getting this ….
am crushing over the liner on lower lash linr ….
let me apply it today 🙂
Haha! 🙂
This wasn’t even on my radar, but it looks really nice!
It was surprisingly nice!
Wow, I’m pleasantly surprised, I was really expecting this to be questionable because Tarte’s been disappointing me lately! That cream contour looks really nice, if a tiny bit too dark for me, but I appreciate the lack of orange!
I had to tell you, I don’t know if I’ve just not read many of your reviews of contour products before or what, but when I got to the full face photos it made me giggle to see you not doing the normal 3/4-turned, smiling face pose!! 🙂 haha I know you’re showing the cheekbone, but I was so used to your smiling that it threw me for a moment! ?
I usually have a shot like that for contour 🙂 I find it is best for showing the shadowy quality of them!
Am I the only one who thinks this is too glittery? And I don’t prefer cream products with powder products if there’s no divider to keep kick up from powders from getting in cream.
It’s shimmery, but I wouldn’t not describe it as glittery as the shades have a finer particle than glitter or even micro-glitter/sparkle.
Do you know if/when this will be available on sephora.com?
No idea when – it is at Ulta, and I don’t think it says exclusive, though.
would this be good on someone with a dark skin tone?
It’s probably not ideal, but I’m not sure what depth you are based on “dark” alone, you know? If you are on the very end of the light to dark spectrum, probably not.
Hi,
Which one would you think and recommend that will give you a metallic high shine glow? The tartiest pro glow or the seaforest twinkle highlighter volume. 2?
Pro Glow!
Hi Christine,
Which one is the most intense metallic high shine glow? The tartiest glow pro or the Twilight volume 2?
Thanks
Tarteist Pro Glow!
