Tarte Metallics Shadows (Summer 2017) Reviews, Photos, Swatches (Part 2)
Revel
Tarte Revel Metallic Shadow ($14.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark red with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good color coverage–just shy of opaque–that applied evenly and smoothly on the lid. The texture was soft, a smidgen loose so there was some excess product kicked up in the pan, but it was easy to work with as it was blendable and adhered well to bare skin. It lasted for eight hours on me before fading.
The Metallic Shadow formula is supposed to have “smooth payoff” that have “lasting vibrancy with no fallout” and are “ultra-pigmented.” They are also designed to be removable, so you can easily put them into an empty palette. The original set of shades were released in plastic compacts, but the most recent release featured them in cardboard compacts. The formula is typically very pigmented, smooth, and blendable with good wear (around eight hours). They work well and are easy to work with, and I’m glad to see that they brand has continued to expand their color selection in this formula.

Pop Rock
Tarte Pop Rock Metallic Shadow ($14.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium, pink-leaning coral with a strong, golden sheen. It had good pigmentation, though it wasn’t as opaque as other shades in the range, and the texture had chunkier shimmer so it wasn’t as smooth as other shades. It was still quite soft, blendable, and did not feel gritty/chunky in the pan, but it definitely seemed different than past iterations in this formula. On me, the color wore well for seven and a half hours before fading.

Clueless
Tarte Clueless Metallic Shadow ($14.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, coppery brown with warm undertones and a sparkling, frosted finish. It was less metallic and more frosted as the shimmer particles were larger and more noticeable. The consistency was fairly smooth, soft without being too dusty or powdery in the pan, and blendable on the skin. It had great color payoff that lasted for eight hours on me.

Vintage
Tarte Vintage Metallic Shadow ($14.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a molten, golden copper with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It was incredibly pigmented with a very soft texture; so soft that it was looser and was best applied using less product than normal and patting/pressing into the skin, which helped the product meld against the skin. There was some fallout during application, but it really blended and worked well into the skin and retained its vibrancy. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading.

Jaded
Tarte Jaded Metallic Shadow ($14.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, olive green with strong, warm undertones and a golden sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly dense texture that was almost cream-like as it was silky and easy to work with. The eyeshadow applied beautifully to bare skin and lasted for eight hours.

Christine, I think Clueless got posted 2x, but one of them is supposed to be Pop Rocks, which is missing. Definitely need Revel & Jaded, trying to resist all the others. Tarte is going to be taking all my money in April
Should be fixed now!
Oh my goodness, they all look so beautiful. I’m surprised by the autumn shades, but I would rock them year round anyway.
I’m curious to know what brush you use for these shadows =) Please share! I’m afraid I’d break the soft shadows or not get good pigmentation if I don’t use the right type of brush. haha
Anyway, Tarte is really tempting me with their products this spring!
I don’t use any particular brush with them – I cycle through MAC 239s, Chikuhodo GSN-09s, Zoeva brushes, Hakuhodo brushes!
These look really NICE. But clueless is posted twice. 😉
I need Pop Rocks in my life now that I’ve seen the swatch. 😉
I’m so sorry – it should be fixed! We’re having a lot of server issues today, so I have not been able to reply to comments all day.
I figured something was glitching because Pop Rocks last listed in the description but the other sections took a different shade.
It didn’t copy the ID (so it was the last copy I did, for Clueless – so Clueless repeated twice). Everything pulls together with all these pieces by each shade’s individual ID so while it’s harder to mess up the URLs for an image file, there’s still room for Christine error, LOL!
Human glitch, I know that one well. 😉
I like a lot of the colors in the particular line, but I’m kind of surprised at the amount of broken/crumbly items. 🙁
They’re definitely more fragile, though I’ve actually dropped one and it was fine, LOL. Two arrived from Ulta just fine, but one was sent alone and that was broken.
Some beautiful colours here (and I am really drawn to the first one – a big change is happening for me with regard to this sort of shade; it started with Smashbox Smoky!) but they sure don’t seem to travel at all well or else you’ve lucked out (not) with a really clumsy delivery guy who likes to juggle with the packages in his lunch hour or something!
I’ve repurchased three of the ones that arrived broken from Ulta — two were fine, one came broken (separate box, all by itself – not wholly surprised with that one).
Jaded looks really nice but I have several of the dupes! I need to tell myself I don’t need to own EVERY green eye shadow 🙂
You have dupes!! Skip it!
Nice. I wonder if I could pull off Revel.
I bet you could!
I LOVE those reds but they contain carmine, so they’re definitely a no-go for me. 🙁
Darn 🙁
I love every one of these!! They look so stunning, and creamy!!
But the red and green are my favourites!! I’m itching to try these!!!
Happy to hear it 😀
Clueless and Vintage are calling my name! They look so buttery smooth. This eye look reminds me of Sedona red rocks, which is a very good thing ? You pull off all of the colors beautifully.
Thank you! 🙂
Those are all nice. But I’m into palettes. Great swatches Christine.
Happy to share, Annie!
I love a good green shade so will be picking up Jaded for sure.
Enjoy it, Deborah!
Call me another very happy camper that Tarte did listen to the makeup loving masses who clamored for more shades in this beautiful formula!
And it seems they made the formula permanent, too!!
Again, another mix of just beautiful shades – it’s a shame so many of them cracked on you Christine. Love Jaded and Vintage the best. Lovely eye look too.
Thanks so much, Genevieve!
gosh I really love jaded… it’s a really unique green, at least in terms of my personal stash!! i have a hard time with green– I always like it swatches, but on my eyes it always seems to go muddy unless it’s a mint shade or something… darker foresty or olive greens are usually especially tough!
I must be jaded, cause Jaded definitely caught my eye. Very pretty green, and as a hazel eyed girl it would be great.
I really like the finish on these, not too shimmery. You did a beautiful eye look with these colors.
Revel is stunning! I love those royal reds. Not enough of them, imo.
They’re beautiful, but, wow, are they fragile. I ordered six from Ulta and all but two arrived broken. 🙁
