Cream Foundation

I like how they’re often hydrating and more forgiving of skin dryness/texture, though I find I prefer liquid foundation, which can often have similar benefits but I find a little easier to work with overall.

Gift with Purchases

They’re not usually for me! If it’s a full-sized item that I was actually wanting, sure, but most of the time, they’re smaller sizes–samples or minis–and I rarely reach for those.

Sample Sizes

For color cosmetics, I like mini sizes that are still, functionally, plenty of product for regular use–like a mini highighter. I’m not a huge fan of anything that’s only one or two uses, though. I also expect that the quality is the same between a sample size and full-size!

Setting Sprays

I don’t use them very often since I am testing longevity most days, but I’m glad they exist and do reach for them if I’m going to be out all day and wearing makeup that I need to last! I love when they have a very fine mist and don’t take too long to dry down.

Brush Sets

For Japanese brush sets, I wish there was incentive to purchase them, e.g. a discount (even 10%) because then I’d rather buy the type of brushes I need vs. risk experimenting on one I’m not sure about. I like when sets are small and curated, but I find brush sets make the most sense for someone who travels or is starting out (but then I’d start a lower price point) to figure out what they really love/use.

Brow Gels

This is a product I always forget–but should!–use! I love when they help to set my brow hairs in place but don’t feel crunchy. When they’re crunch or heavy, they feel so weird! I tend to prefer clear brow gel as it’s easier to work with.

Brow Pencils

I find they aren’t my first choice for filling in my brows. I prefer using a gel product and an angled brush – faster and a little more intense for me, which I like. Back in the day, I used MAC Stud for a long time, though, so at one point I liked ’em, haha!

Crease Brushes

Love! They are so essential to my routine. I love slightly rounded–but not too rounded–smallt o medium-sized crease brushes. They work well for depositing color and blending it out while retaining some precision! When they get too large, fluffy, or rounded, I find they’re harder to control.

Fan Brushes

I think they’re particularly good for someone who has trouble being light-handed or likes a sheerer, less-pigmented effect when working with most powder-based products. Sometimes, they can be overly large or give too diffused of an application.
