What do you like about Natasha Denona? What don't you like?
Tell us what you love and hate about...
I’m happy to see the brand doing more mini palettes, but I’d love for them to make the midi palette the regular format and put their past larger palettes into that size. I’d also like to see more diversity in shade depth/range for products like blush, bronzer, and highlighter.

I’m not crazy about her prices. I’m not thrilled that even if I want something, I can’t usually see it in-store and have to take a chance and order. I was disappointed that her 5 pan Mini-Glam, that was promoted as “cool-toned” really wasn’t as cool as I was hoping. And a lot of her releases look kind of “same-y”.
If the Star palette came in a midi size I’d purchase it full-price in a heartbeat—which is very unlike me! It’s been like 7 years and I’m still holding out for a good sale on Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar duo lol
Love ND! In the top five of my favorite brands. But I agree that they could eliminate the large palettes and have the midi-size be the standard, along with the 5 pans and the minis. The price point is my only real complaint. I’ve wanted the green-brown and purple-blue palettes forever, especially since they’ve been reformulated, but I will NOT spend $239 on a palette.
I share your sentiments about re-releasing her past large size palettes in the smaller size. If she did that with circo loco I’d finally buy one of her palettes.
Couldn’t agree more with you Christine, and I would buy the trio chrome and Circo loco if they were in the midi price range. Would also love if the pans in the mini also were removable
Love her. Love the products. Shows versatility in her e/s palettes other than sticking with core neutrals: circo loco, trichrome, pastels, tropic, safari, etc.. But I love her best for those core neutrals; biba, bronze, glam face, retro. I have never purchased one of her large palettes. It is not a favoured format for me.
I feel her quality is consistent. I feel her price point is no more outrageous than any other HE label.
My thought of her product line-up is the opposite of yours.
The $129 large pan palettes make sense to me. They are designed for professional MUAs and those who do not care for paying a premium to get top-notch quality and editorial looks. Think of Apple pro products with the highest configuration, but with Natasha Denona branding. I believe the profit margin for this line is the highest. This is beneficial for a growing company and its future innovation. All my favorite ND palettes come from this line, Safari, Biba, and Triochrome.
The longest line is the $65 midi palettes, which also makes sense. The targeted consumers are beauty lovers. Although they are not cheap, given the quality, the price is very competitive. Take my shopping experience as an example, I didn’t buy her Sunset palette when its buzz peaked, because those tones are so warm that didn’t worth $129 for me. But when Sunrise hit the market I immediately bought it. The red and purple colors make it even prettier than Sunset in my eyes, and it is way much more affordable. I know $65 is still a lot, but it is psychology, Okay? For someone eyeing Circo Loco or Triochrome but is hesitant by their hefty price, her most recent Pastel is a great option to try. If she firstly released a $65 colorful palette, who would care about other $129 alternatives? I have to say Natasha is a smart businesswoman.
What I don’t plan to buy and never had bought are her minis. I don’t like the packaging. Even the low price point won’t convince me to try it. I have other smaller palettes that I love from their packaging to content. I think they are cashflow generators for Natasha, but not the best products that represent her brand.
I love her products. They are definitely pricey but the quality is there to substantiate it. I decided to graduate from the ABH palettes with their inconsistent quality and pay more for something that is almost a guaranteed hit. I like how velvety the mattes are and how creamy the shimmers feel. They last all day and the payoff is there from the start. I do agree that the price is high and I have yet to purchase one of the large palettes (I think they’re over $200) but I have four of her $65 palettes and two of the mini and I think that they are worthwhile investments. They’re also pretty travel-friendly.
I have only one palette from ND – Glam and I have to say it is stellar. I think she makes high quality eyeshadows, but her prices are expensive.
To me, there is a profusion of pinks, reds and oranges in many of her palettes and some of her earlier ones were not as good as more recent editions.
As to her blushes, lipsticks etc. I have not tried them, but, like with all brands, you just have to check which products suit you best.
Midi-sizing all the old palettes is something that I would so love to see her do, too, Christine! Gold, Lila, Biba for sure.
I do love that she thinks outside the box with many of her color and finish compilations for her palettes. And, I also love that her I Need A Nude lipstick range is ultra inclusive. Cheek products do come close, but could use some improvement.
What I DON’T like is that so many of her eyeshadows make my already watery eyes go into a virtual tailspin of a rainstorm! And, I haven’t a clue as to why, or what could possibly be in them that does this? If anyone does know something I don’t; please tell me!
I really enjoy her formula however my biggest complaint is that so many of the shades in her palettes are just to similar. I loved the Star palette but again.. I panned my favorite colors and i was done.. to many red/berry shades and the two golds were so similar. I have the Gold palette my favorite, Biba, Sunset and I bought Bronze last year which is very orange not golden brown bronze like I would have wanted. I would by the Lila and Tropical palettes in the midi $65 size but I just won’t spend the money like previously. Now that Pat McGrath is out I love her palettes more as they have more variety and the special glitter shades that I love.
I love ND eyeshadow formulas, especially the metallic/sparkly shades. I also enjoy that the midi palettes are magnetized removable pans so I can re-arrange the shades (hello, mini’s, are you getting this? 😊)
I, too, wish ND would do away with the gigantic palettes, which I refuse to buy – they cost too much and I cannot envision myself ever using up the huge eyeshadow pans. I would love to see the large palettes re-released as midi-sized palettes. Gold would be mine in less than a heartbeat.
I would also love to see some 9- or 12-pan palettes in the midi-sized range. The 5-pan minis sometimes don’t have enough shades to create various looks, but 15 shades are usually too many for me, especially as there are so often very similar shades in each of those 15-pan palettes that could be left out.
The prices are nosebleed-inducingly high, but the formula is smooth and the brighter colors are beautiful (I have no interest in the neutral palettes). I have Circo Loco and intend to get the new Pastel palette during the Sephora VIB sale.
Natasha Denona is my favorite brand. I love her matte formula and especially the cream to powder because it layers so well with the mattes and gives me a seamless blend. I like that if there is a duplicate iteration of a shade the brand seems to improve on the formula with every version. The price point can be a lot, but if the brand sticks with the midi size it’s much more accessible.
I do wish she would come out with something other than coral/rose for blush shades. Give me some plum! or an orange blush! I would buy it!
I do not like her eyeshadows.
I do not like her nude lip obsession. Give me a red for heavens sake.
I do not like, well, anything about the brand.
The large-sized $129 palettes are full-sized and were designed to be refillable. The formula is also superior to the cheaper palettes, so considering you could be paying $30 for a single shadow, those palettes are very reasonable. No one said boo about the price of Pat’s palettes or Byredo’s which have considerably fewer colors but have the same type of quality. *off rant*
Based on my experiences, I do not find that the quality is different between the various palette options. As far as I know, they were not designed to be refillable since Natasha Denona never offered refills for any shades that were found in the $129 palettes – only singles that were on the original $200+ palettes.
Also, many people find many luxury-priced products expensive or not offering enough for the price, etc… that includes brands like Pat McGrath and Byredo. I routinely see comments regarding price point across high-end and luxury-priced brands.
Lol. I boo the prices of palettes all day, but nobody in real life cares. The ingredients that go in to an eyeshadow formula are gut-wrenchingly cheap and after all of those palettes are assembled and the pans poured…..I suspect it costs a brand as large as PMG and ND a couple of dollars per palette to manufacture – likely less. To put more than a $100 price tag (….$50….) on an eyeshadow palette is to tell everyone you’re selling them a name and an IDEA of value.
(I own one each of the PMG and ND $125 (when I bought them) palettes)
I haven’t bought ND and doubt I will. I tried it in store pre-pandemic but… The price absolutely turns me off. Metropolis looked cool but I have those shades already. The brand’s packaging doesn’t appeal to me either. I like artsy, clever and unique things. I did really like the mini Gold’s unique shades, almost got it- but… $25 for a mini… I just can’t spend that much money on something that.. isn’t really going to add that much joy to my life. I guess, I’m at a place in life where I can just draw inspiration from beauty news or new products. I can create joy and confidence with what I already have.
Price. Her quality simply does NOT warrant it. No eyeshadow does. Much less eyeshadow in plain plastic packaging.
I realize ND formula is a favorite for many (not me), but I’ve been sampling her shadows since the company hit Sephora and have found inconsistencies as well as shitty quality. Does anyone remember her $25 single black eyeshadow? I bought that, swatched it, was horrified, compared it to an old UD black, took a pic, took that shit back to the store. I own the Gold palette and while I like it well enough, it isn’t a $125 eyeshadow palette and I don’t reach for it often (dupes on dupes in the same palette, son!)
I like almost every palette she does!
I don’t like that the colors in many of them seem darker that what you see.
