Sydney Grace Eyeshadows Reviews & Swatches ("Signs of Spring Look")
Sea Breeze
Sydney Grace Sea Breeze Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light chartreuse green with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, and it actually stayed that way when applied; there was enough substance to the consistency that it didn’t immediately sheer out to nothingness. It’s incredibly rare to find this light of a shade that can pack so much pigment without ten layers and a sticky primer under it. The consistency was a smidgen powdery, so there was a bit of fallout if I used a larger, fluffier brush. It wore well for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Pear Tree
Sydney Grace Pear Tree Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium-dark green with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, olive green shimmer and faint sparkle. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that felt a little thicker, but it spread easily along my skin without losing its intensity. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before creasing faintly.

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.
Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

The Commons
Sydney Grace The Commons Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a blackened purple with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of plum and copper micro-sparkle. The consistency was drier and on the dusty side, which resulted in some fallout when I worked with it, though some of the sparkle/shimmer seemed to translate onto my lid, rather than just the base color (which was more what I anticipated). The product itself blended out without much effort along the edges and went on evenly. It had opaque pigmentation that wore well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

GORGEOUS!!! Wow!!
Thansk, Kristi!
Beautiful shades here that are so wearable all year round. Love Pear Tree the best. Gorgeous eye look Christine. This is such an impressive brand.
Seems like my list of Sydney Grace shadows that I will buy at some point, is growing every day. These are such lovely shades and the eye look is stellar. I am expecting a little windfall of money in about two weeks and while it seems silly to think about spending it on eye shadows, I may just have to be silly. Love these!!
It’s so nice to see a shade like Sea Breeze work in a matte. It’s definitely going on my wish list.
SO impressive!! I was like NO WAY the first time I used it!
Sea Foam is fine, too, and they are both in the No Joke bundle. FYI, for those that like pastels or greens. I suspect most readers know that bundle was created because a Tarte had no real April Fool’s palette last year. I think Devinah did a bundle too. From self mock from Tarte, to hits by the indies. Love it.
Yes, I remember that now that you mention it. Thank you for the reminder about the greens being in that pack. I love that the indies ran with Tarte’s stupid little joke. 🙂
Yes, I’m feeling those spring vibes coming through loud and strong with this beautiful eye look!
Sea Breeze, Princess Pay Pay, Siren are very interesting and impressive shades that I am seriously considering getting at some point!
Is the shade Siren currently available? I can’t seem to find it on the Sydney Grace Co website.
Oh no! I hope it wasn’t discontinued!
Your look for this is so imaginative! I’m really impressed. (I’m also impressed with the shadows.)
Thank you, Reka!
The sheer number of “recommended” shades that Sydney Grace seems to rack up with EVERY review is so impressive! I can’t wait to place an order! I’m so glad that you undertook the HUGE project of swatching and reviewing their massive catalog, Christine. Thankfully they’ve all been pretty amazing, so definitely less of hardship than some other eyeshadow lines.
Yes, very Spring! This look reminds me strongly of the burgundy (rubra) form of the Pasque flower. Very nice1
Thank you!
