Sea Breeze

Sydney Grace Sea Breeze Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light chartreuse green with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, and it actually stayed that way when applied; there was enough substance to the consistency that it didn’t immediately sheer out to nothingness. It’s incredibly rare to find this light of a shade that can pack so much pigment without ten layers and a sticky primer under it. The consistency was a smidgen powdery, so there was a bit of fallout if I used a larger, fluffier brush. It wore well for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Formula Overview

$5.25/0.06 oz. - $87.50 Per Ounce

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Pear Tree

Sydney Grace Pear Tree Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium-dark green with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, olive green shimmer and faint sparkle. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that felt a little thicker, but it spread easily along my skin without losing its intensity. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before creasing faintly.

Formula Overview

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.

Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Sydney Grace Princess Pay Pay Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a rich, reddish-plum with subtle, warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation that adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even application that blended out well along the edges. It had a denser, lightly creamy consistency that picked up well with a brush. It lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably on me.

Sydney Grace Siren Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. Mermaid

Sydney Grace Mermaid Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium gold with warm undertones and a subtle, gold-to-green shifting metallic finish. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable with a slightly looser press compared to most of the shimmers, though I didn’t get fallout when I worked with it. The pigmentation was opaque and stayed on well for eight hours before fading subtly.

Serenity

Sydney Grace Serenity Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a peachy gold with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had rich pigmentation with a soft, lightly creamy consistency that was dense but not too firmly pressed in the pan. The color went on significantly lighter and more yellowish than it appeared in the pan, yet it didn’t really have much of a shift. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before it started to fade.

Sydney Grace The Commons Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a blackened purple with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of plum and copper micro-sparkle. The consistency was drier and on the dusty side, which resulted in some fallout when I worked with it, though some of the sparkle/shimmer seemed to translate onto my lid, rather than just the base color (which was more what I anticipated). The product itself blended out without much effort along the edges and went on evenly. It had opaque pigmentation that wore well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Seems like my list of Sydney Grace shadows that I will buy at some point, is growing every day. These are such lovely shades and the eye look is stellar. I am expecting a little windfall of money in about two weeks and while it seems silly to think about spending it on eye shadows, I may just have to be silly. Love these!!

Sea Foam is fine, too, and they are both in the No Joke bundle. FYI, for those that like pastels or greens. I suspect most readers know that bundle was created because a Tarte had no real April Fool’s palette last year. I think Devinah did a bundle too. From self mock from Tarte, to hits by the indies. Love it.

The sheer number of “recommended” shades that Sydney Grace seems to rack up with EVERY review is so impressive! I can’t wait to place an order! I’m so glad that you undertook the HUGE project of swatching and reviewing their massive catalog, Christine. Thankfully they’ve all been pretty amazing, so definitely less of hardship than some other eyeshadow lines.

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
