Levy

Sydney Grace Levy Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a cooler, bluish-teal base with warmer, golden shimmer paired with a metallic finish. It seemed more like a cool-toned teal, but there was a lot of dimension with the interplay between cool and warm. The texture was soft, lightly creamy, and dense without being thick or too firmly-pressed in the pan. The eyeshadow applied well to bare skin and lasted well for eight hours on me.

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.

Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Palm Trees

Sydney Grace Palm Trees Shimmer Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a dark, forest green with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted sheen. It had opaque color coverage that adhered well to bare skin and blended out nicely along the edges. The texture was firmer and denser in the pan, so it needed a moderate hand to pick up product evenly with my brush, but it wasn’t significantly firm, just noticeably firmer than most of the brand’s shimmers (but more in line with the silicone-heavy formulas we’ve seen in the last few years). The eyeshadow wore well for eight and a half hours on me before showing signs of fading.

Eternal

Sydney Grace Eternal Shimmer Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light-medium green with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which was easy to build up to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. The texture was thinner and more firmly-pressed in the pan, but it wasn’t so firm that it was stiff to work with, so I still was able to pick up product with my brush and blend it out with little effort (surprised it blended out nicely!). It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably on me.

Moss

Sydney Grace Moss Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark green with warm, olive undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was good, though it needed a second layer to get to full coverage. The texture was slightly drier and thinner, though I didn’t have any issues with fallout or blending. It lasted well for eight hours on me before it started to fade on me.

FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent).

Formula Overview

$5.25/0.06 oz. - $87.50 Per Ounce

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Camel

Sydney Grace Camel Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light, yellowish brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer with a soft, blendable consistency that was a smidgen dry in the pan but applied evenly on my skin and did not appear dry/dusty on. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before fading slightly.

Levy is SO gorgeous, but I am pretty sure it would actually not flatter me at all. Sometimes it’s hard to be sure if I want to buy something because I think it would look good on me, or if it’s just really pretty.

I think I’m about to cry, after trying to hunt down a dupe for KVD’s Gloom from the Pastel Goth palette since the palette released, I was overjoyed to see it listed as a dupe . . . until I looked down and saw the “Discontinued” under Eternal. Checked the site too, it’s not there. I need a moment of silence to mourn.
