Biscotti

Sydney Grace Biscotti Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light-medium beige with subtle, warm undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented with a moderately-dense, almost cream-like consistency that almost “melted” when applied to bare skin. It wore nicely for nine hours before fading visibly.

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.

Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Safari

Sydney Grace Safari Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a rich, golden bronze with warm undertones and a bright, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had full color payoff that adhered well to bare skin and diffused with ease along the edges without losing its intensity or shine. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy, and denser without being too thick. It stayed on well for nine hours before showing signs of wear.

All of these are absolutely beautiful and stunning – I love every single shade here. Super Star is a perfect cool toned blue, whilst Inertia is a more unusual purple/amethyst colour. And of course, I love the neutral shades too. Quite a cool toned collection.

Those are beautiful, although my hands are quite full with the three gorgeous palettes from your collection at the moment!
Completely unrelated topic: I’m in a bit of a panic at the moment as I’ve just found out that MJ beauty is going under and their high liners are sold out *everywhere*. Mine are almost gone, and they’re the only darn thing that stay put on my oily, hooded eyes.
I know you swear by them as well, so I’m wondering if you have recommendations for alternatives eye-liners with that kind of budge-proof staying power?

Christine Avatar

MJB is pretty much top tier for me as well, so I don’t have a great dupe. I tend to wear UD and Sephora eyeliners between MJB, mostly because MJB is harder to remove and I don’t actually NEED that extra staying power (since I work from home, lol).

It is unclear if they’re actually going out of business, since the current rumor is that they’re looking for a new partner (instead of Kendo), but given everything is clearanced out, MJB might not have access to the formulas under a new partner.

Mariella Avatar

I didn’t know they were going under….I just thought either Sephora was getting rid of the line or that MJ Beauty was sort of “re-tooling”. I’m so glad I got the single shadows I love when I did (one was even on sale) but I’m distraught because the skinny liners are the only thing I use on my upper waterline. I’m really hoping that some of these might just turn up at Winners/Marshalls in the future (I do have a backup of Blacquer but I wonder how well these stay “usable” in storage/unopened).

Valerie Avatar

I’ve had a blacquer backup for 3 years and recently opened it, it’s still good.
So sad they’re going under. I’ve been hearing that for a while now.
Mercari has everything and I’ll get my backups there. The listings are still reasonable. Once they officially go under, suspect the prices will soar.

Biscotti is a close cousin of MUFE OG crystalline gray beige. Possibly my all time fave. The others are big loves, too. Re: the liner post below: I cannot wait for SG liners. Believe they’re coming, and I hope I’m right!
