The Artistique Blush formula is supposed to have a “naturally glowing finish.” The formula is consistent: the blushes have a very soft, almost cream-like powder texture that blends out effortlessly to a luminous sheen with semi-opaque to opaque coverage (that is easily applied more sheerly or layered for true-to-pan color) and good wear (eight to nine hours). Barbe a Papa had a very soft, lightly loose consistency in the pan with semi-opaque color coverage. I found it to be a buildable product, so if you wanted more payoff, opaque color was achievable in two to three layers. The texture had more noticeable micro-sparkle in it than other shades in the range, and it was visible on the skin. The blush didn’t emphasize my pores or my skin’s natural texture, but it may be a concern for others. It lasted for eight hours before fading.
A note on packaging: Surratt’s range comes in lightweight plastic pans, which aren’t ideal for long-term use (particularly if traveling or putting in a makeup bag), as his products are designed to be put into custom palette solutions. Personally, I put magnets on the back of each and keep them in freestyle palettes (like a Z-Palette) as it is more economical.

It’s pretty, a cotton candy pink!
It is!
Barbe a Papa = cotton candy, or literally translated “dad’s beard”.
PUT SOME OF DAD’S BEARD ON YOUR CHEEKS, EVERYONE!
Funny how things translate!
Just for information “Barbe à Papa”, litterally “daddy’s beard” means cotton candy in French. I hate cotton candy so it really puts me off, lol!
Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Ohhh- I could read the literal translation and I was so confused. The fact that it’s the name for cotton candy makes SO much more sense ?
I use to love cotton candy as a child (we call it sugar spider in Dutch), and I really love this blush. The past few days I’ve been looking for a new glowy, shimmery pink blush. Maybe this is the one! 🙂
Sugar spider, lol! That is very cool 😉
How pretty!
It is!
That’s a gorgeous colour, I’d buy it if I didn’t already have Pearl Blossom!
Glad you have something similar already, Claire! 🙂
Oooh, this looks right up my street! It’s light, it’s pink, it’s obnoxiously sparkly- it has it all! I’m very tempted, I must say. ?
Seriously though, this is me ground up and pressed into a blush pan….does that sound wrong? ?
LOL!! It made me laugh 😉
Not at all. You are so cute! Nothing icky intended.
Love this! This typically would not be ” my shade” . But, this is pretty!
It is a lovely one!
Very pretty, especially with a warmer eye and neutral to warm lip.
It is a gorgeous color!
Kinda not my thing, but I can very much see this as a layering blush. I would put it over a bronzer in the summer for a light hit of light with a pinkish cast. Could be quite pretty without being full on pink blush which I do not care for on me.
Man, I know the hormones are getting to me, but it’s not even close to being a beard..m’kay. This comment goes out to the women who will understand..who sit nose close to their mirrors in the morning squinting, tweezers armed and ready in hand, for those evil crazy errant suckers which seem to grow out of your face in the middle of the night. It’s just bloody mean getting old sometimes. ?
It is! I don’t know if I like PINK pink on me either, but I can dig this.
Hahahaha. You have no clue…yet. It isn’t for sissies. Just ask your older readership. Personally, I’m glad to be playing the back nine. The world is getting kinda scary. So let’s, as my bff says, talk about something critical, like makeup. Seriously, you brighten all of our days and knock some sense into our wallets.
The price though!! So expensive for how much you’re getting! Looks quite similar to Orgasm!
Totally understand!
This looks so gorgeous on you. The packaging is lovely.
Oh yeah, that is deeeefinitely way too sparkly for me! You can pull it off though, I think it looks really pretty on your cheeks.
This looks really pretty!
I adore this blush formula, seems similar to the Clinique Pop and Laura Geller Gelato formulas. I have the other Surratt baby pink blush, I can’t remember the name, but it’s similar to this but with less frost. My only complaint is indeed the packaging, I wish they offered the option of a single refillable palette like Shu Umera does as I cart. My makeup around every day and don’t really want the added bulk of putting it in a multi palette! I’m considering purchasing the highlighter shade and a double palette just to make it a complete set!
Very pretty.
Agreed 🙂
I think it’s beautiful.
Me too!
