Stila Rockin' Rose, Tulip Twinkle, Plum On Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows Reviews & Swatches
Rockin' Rose
Stila Rockin’ Rose Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow ($24.00 for 0.15 oz.) seemed to have a translucent base with flecks of bronze, copper, and pink sparkle and shimmer. In the tube, it seemed like it was going to have a duochrome shift, but in person, I really couldn’t see it regardless of how I shifted my arm. It read primarily lie brown glitter with pops of pink here and there, and the sheerer base (seemed about clear!) meant it worked best layered over other products to add additional sparkle. On its own, it didn’t distribute as evenly across where I applied it, and it seemed to have darker glitter/sparkle, so it read a bit more “dirt” than glittery goodness on my skin. Once it place, this shade lasted well for nine hours with very little fallout over time.

Stila says that it’s supposed to be a “long-wearing, sparkle eye shadow” in a “water-infused texture” that “dries down smoothly” with “minimal fallout.” There’s a lot to be impressed by with the formula, but there was some inconsistency in opacity and overall wateriness between shades so not all shades were equally impressive. When they’re good, they were pigmented, dried down evenly without creasing, and were long-wearing with minimal fallout. When they’re less impressive, they are more watery, semi-sheer to semi-opaque, prone to creasing as they dry down, though the wear is similar across all shades.
I felt like there was less fallout with the less blending done with them, e.g. applying directly to lid and only minimally working along the edges yielded the least fallout compared to diffusing and blending out the color with a brush. If I accidentally rubbed an eye, it seemed to interfere with the integrity of the wear completely–it was like a downhill avalanche of glitter that could not be stopped. They were easiest to use as the last step in a look, patted over eyeshadow with fingertip or swiped on with the sponge applicator for more of a “cut crease” kind of effect, or used along the lash line as eyeliner (I liked using a thin, liquid eyeliner brush to get a thinner line). They removed fairly well, but it was hard to get every last bit of glitter off the skin, though it was never painful or uncomfortable to remove them.

Tulip Twinkle
Stila Tulip Twinkle Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow ($24.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of gold and pink-to-violet shifting sparkle and glitter. The texture was thin, watery but quick to dry down and the base went on surprisingly evenly, while the glittery bits dispersed fairly well. It had medium coverage, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage with a second layer (make sure to wait for the first one to dry down!). It lasted well for nine hours with a smidgen of fallout over time.

Plum On
Stila Plum On Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow ($24.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium-dark plummy brown with more of a brown base and cooler plum and silver shimmer and larger flecks of glitter. It had a watery consistency that was thin, lightweight, and quick to dry down, but it was hard to apply evenly without sheering it out all over the lid or applying it over a darker eyeshadow (to help fill in the unevenness). I wish Stila was clearer about which shades were more opaque and which were sheerer (the range is all over the opacity spectrum!). Once on, it stayed in place with very little fallout over nine hours.

Ohhhhhhh, Stila, what is you doin???? ?I sort of feel like they should just stop and keep the original colors that first launched. They have milked this trend for a little too long when you think about the cost. They are just being extra and messy now.
I think I have every shade prior to this release of the Stila Glitter and Glows. I really love them but have become worried that they are drying out too quickly as pointed out to me by Tara of Tarababyz on YT. She has had several of hers completely dry out and I am noticing mine are getting thicker and more difficult to apply so while I really love the tulip one, I think I will pass until they fix the issue.
Tulip Twinkle is beautiful. Living Plum is a great color, but no thanks on the application.
These are disappointing. They look so pretty in the tube but they don’t translate well onto the eye. Not worth the hassle and/or price imo.
Try again, Stila. I was kind of thinking
about trying Plum On until I read your review. I think I’ll pass on it!!
Hmmm – these don’t seem to be as good as the originals. I really dislike it when brands change a great formula to the product’s detriment. They could have been beautiful.
