Too Faced White Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.42 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette featuring a mix of soft neutrals, mauves, and a pop of green. It is, by and large, a repeat of the terrible White Chocolate Chip from last year… and nothing about initial swatching suggested the repeated shades were substantially improved. Here are swatches:

The linked text for the Clover palette is an affiliate link (for Too Faced) 🙂

Are you, generally, a fan of Too Faced’s formula? Like do the regular Chocolate Bar palettes work well for you? I’m not sure about Clover yet, but it definitely doesn’t feel like it’s wayyy different from their typical formula at the very least (but certainly better than White Chocolate Bar appears…).

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Ok – perfect (will save it then).

Generally, no, I’m not a big fan of TF palettes. I gave away all of my other palettes with the exception of the Pretty Little Planner one. My PLP is much, much better than yours. In fact so much so that I feel like it was made by a different company! That’s why I was considering Clover as a maybe. Problem of course is we know how difficult the brand can be not just with orders but also returns. So, I’m really hesitant.

Andy Avatar

The white chocolate bar is a def. No… and I wasn’t sure about Clover one but the swatches seem promising, but I’ll wait for your full review for my final thought 😉

Clover is better than I expected. Shows how low we set the bar, for tf. Reissue white? When it isn’t improved? I think I check out the tf to see if there is any change in direction or quality, and generally see none. But, i’m pretty far from their target market.

Betty Avatar

It looks like the color selection of the Clover palette is very random and all-over-the-place and many of the mattes (in both palettes) look like they won’t make the grade.

Robin Avatar

Clover looks decent. I need more caffeine. When I read the shade “samethemall”, my brain read save the mall not save them all! lol For a few seconds I was wondering why in the world would they name a shade save the mall!?!

Litha Avatar

Haha, I read the name for the color ‘savethemall’’ as save the mall, not save them all, and I got a bit of a chuckle out of that! I like the colors ‘best friends’ and ‘ruh roh’ but other than that, I just don’t know about this palette. I just don’t think I need it, even though I kind of want it. Will probably pass and wait for dupes for the two colors I really like instead.

I wasn’t excited about either of these palettes and sadly nothing that I see in the swatches changes my mind. I really would have loved to like the White Chocolate palette as I am very pale and these shades look like a nice neutral everyday palette but the shades are so similar and not that pigmented so it is an easy pass for me. Thank you for the swatches, Christine. I am getting ready to place my fourth order from Sephora before the 20% coupon expires today. My goal for next year is to not be a rouge!!

Suz Avatar

I have had the white chocolate bar palette for a while and while I personally like it because of the lighter shades I know that it probably won’t get great reviews because the formula can be a little hard to work with. Also Lavender Cake is a massive fail like you see in the swatches. I really wish that I could find a decent pastel purple colour that is similar.

Mariella Avatar

Ummmm – that’s why I said “I wish” – it’s a personal reaction, which I thought we were able to express here. As someone who actually has a lot of Too Faced products, I’ve seen the aesthetic of the packaging (which was always on the “whimsical” side) get more and more juvenile looking. Again, just my opinion, folks!

Christine Avatar

I just want to be clear: it’s absolutely fine to state that this type of packaging doesn’t appeal to you, but it gets into judging others [who may like it] when you liken it to products meant for “12 year olds” – as if a reader who is over 12 is somehow a child if they like it or worse, that you can’t be an “adult wom[an]” (or somehow you’re not “sophisticated”) and like this. The latter is very much how I interpreted the comment, which was why I replied earlier.

Nancy T Avatar

I’m really liking the looks of Clover! However, I’m afraid I may be all paletted out at this point. Been going back and forth in my mind about possibly nabbing UD Heavy Metal Palette if it clearances out at some future time, but that’s about all. And then this comes along, and appears to be one of TF’s better palettes!

As for White Chocolate? One word: NOPE! Laughably poor quality, except for that mint green and sparkly black.

Katie Avatar

That yellow in the Clover palette is awesome! Everything else is meh though, and neither palette feels very cohesive. Will probably pass, although might reconsider if Clover reviews incredibly well.

Genevieve Avatar

Dare I say that Clover doesn’t seem so bad for a Too Faced effort? Granted, the mattes are a bit chalky, but the shimmers seem fine.
Now the White Chocolate palette looks pretty ordinary from the swatches – pale, dusty, lacking pigmentation i.e. the usual from Too Faced.

MacKenzie G. Avatar

Neither is cohesive and White Chocolate is just laughable… the only colors I like between the two I have dupes for except for the mint green and that’s not going to be hard to dupe. I wish Too Faced would improve their quality and product development because I want to like them, but I just can’t.

Jackie Avatar

I actually really like the swatches for the Clover palette- I saw someone once say it might be a sister to the ABH Subculture palette and can sort of see that with these swatches- but man, do I not need it. I will be very excited to see what dupes Mint Chocolate in the White Chocolate palette has because it feels like a really fun shade.

Jovana Avatar

I ordered the Clover palette in the initial early release (took forever to get it but TF is infamous for their slow shipping but I digress.) Its been pretty much my go-to palette for 2 weeks in a row. Its got lovely transition shades, very little fall out and unique colors so you can create ton of different looks, as well as your typical work appropriate ones. Pigmentation wise? This is not Subculture. I mean, who wants a blob of intense color you can’t blend or mix with others to create a cohesive look? “Pigmentation” is such an overrated word these days. Give me nice colors that blend on a lid and Clove has this. I ADORE this palette. “Best Friends” shade looks STUNNING on the lid. Reminds me of that famous MAC brown/greenish/purple loose pigment but wayyyyy easier to use.

Evelynne Avatar

Gotta say, been using Clover almost every day since I got it and I love it 🙂 The shadows all work for me, and seeing a happy narwhal every morning really starts my day off right lol

BonnieBBon Avatar

Both of these palettes give me anxiety when I think about using them. They are so mixed up and confusing… at least to me… I’m sure there are plenty of talented souls who can rock them! I was actually surprised Clover appears so good. I had sort of written it off because of its discordant shade selection. If it was harmonious or even had shades I could see myself using together I’d be tempted. White Chocolate on the other hand looks awful! I had to double check some of them because the pigment was so bad I honestly thought it was my screen having a problem ? I keep hoping TF will return to the era of the everything nice holiday palette and original chocolate bar release. That couple years was so fantastic for the brand. I would like a return of that product quality and charming whimsy.
