Smashbox Nudie Pic (Deep) Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trio Review, Photos, Swatches
Nudie Pic (Deep)
Smashbox Nudie Pic (Deep) Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trio ($22.00 for 0.11 oz.) features matte eyeshadows in warm peach, muted copper, and deep brown. I love the color concept but wish the execution was better for the lightest shade (quite powdery) and the deepest shade was a bit more blendable. I definitely appreciate that Smashbox came out with multiple variations on “basic neutrals” by skin tone, too.

Lacy Sunday
Lacy Sunday is a light-medium peach with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, which improved to medium coverage over primer, but the texture was just very powdery, so it was prone to sheering out and often had fallout if I tried to apply more on top of it. This wore well for six and a half hours on me.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to be "super-blendable" and "richly-pigmented." I found the quality to vary a lot from shade to shade, even with a trio, as some shades had soft, blendable texture and others were drier, dusty, and messy to work with and had pigmentation that sheered out or faded quickly. I wanted to like them more than I ended up after using them on the lid as I routinely felt like the brighter shades never looked quite as vibrant in practice as they did in the pan. Most of the shades were blendable and had coverage from medium to opaque with a few being sheer. They lasted anywhere from five to eight hours on me.

In the Mood
In the Mood is a muted, dark copper with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, velvety texture that was just a bit powdery in the pan, but it applied evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely. The color stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

Vintage
Vintage is a deep brown with subtle, warm red undertones and a mostly matte finish. There seemed to be very fine sparkles sparsely through the pan, but it looked matte in practice. It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a slightly firmer, stiffer texture in the pan, so it did not have any fallout during application but took extra effort to blend out. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading on me.

Like yourself, I definitely appreciate Smashbox offering a variety of skintones a mini nude palette, the quality on the lighter shade contained in this trio has me shaking my head. If this trio had earned a B, I may have gotten it as I love these 3 shades together for a quick easy brown smoky eye.
I have appreciated the concept of the trios and pretty well all of them were well co-ordinated. Apart from the cool toned neutrals one and the olive green one, they have been fairly poor in terms of consistency and quality.
Thank you for reviewing these Christine.
I haven’t been impressed by any of these trios so far. They are so basic, yet Smashbox still couldn’t deliver quality. These trios so far have been on par with the average drug store brand’s eyeshadows.
How sad that these trios continue to disappoint. I also found it interesting that they had 3 versions of “nude” trios for different skin tones but they’ve not done very well at all. I’m still somewhat interested in Night Shoot, Day Rate and Showmance, if they come to Shopper’s, where I can get them at 20% off but overall, it’s so disappointing that not one of these really “hits it out of the park”.
Nice trio of shades, just wish they performed better. It would be a nice easy trio to store and take on trips.
I suppose I ought to be relieved that these have not done well, as I had my eye on several including this one, and at $22 each it would have added up quickly. Lots of money saved.
