Sephora Pretty Princess & Queen Bee Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gels Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Sephora Pretty Press Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gel
Sephora Pretty Princess Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “holographic fuchsia.” It’s a muted, medium-dark pinky-plum with multi-coloured shimmer–though dominantly pink, lavender, and silver. This was the most pigmented of the four shades, though it was sitll only semi-sheer coverage; it just had a stronger tint. The consistency was smooth, non-sticky, and applied evenly with good shimmer distribution. On me, it lasted for four hours and was hydrating. MAC Social Season (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Becca Beach Nectar (LE, $22.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). MAC Private Party (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Nutty & Naughty (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Dior Diorosphere (996) (P, $30.00) is cooler (90% similar). Maybelline Lust for Mauve (535) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery (90% similar). Sephora Gorgeous Red (29) (P, $12.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Chanel Burnt Sugar (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, more muted (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Sephora Queen Bee Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “holographic pink beige.” It’s a nearly colorless base with iridescent shimmer that almost seemed like a duochrome, not just holographic, as I could see it shift from a dirty silver to an icy lavender. It had sheer coverage with a fair amount of shimmer and sparkle. The shimmer dispersed evenly, and there was a glossy shine from the product overall. It wore well for three hours and was hydrating over time. Surratt Beauty Amethyste (P, $32.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Maybelline Just a Glimmer (P, $4.49) is less shimmery (95% similar). ColourPop Nonsense (LE, $10.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Candy Flip (P, $20.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Bite Beauty Opal (LE, $22.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Beautiful Moves (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Pat McGrath Aliengelic (P, $30.00) is warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Star Stunner (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented (90% similar). Chanel Clarte (216) (LE, $30.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Glass Slipper (LE, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). Pat McGrath Pale Fire Nectar (P, $30.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Purpurine (LE, $21.00) is lighter, more pigmented, warmer (90% similar). MAC BijouxBlond (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Huda Beauty Charmed (LE, $18.00) is cooler (85% similar). Pat McGrath Earth Angel (P, $30.00) is more shimmery, cooler (85% similar). MAC Sugar Coat (LE, $18.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). Pat McGrath Astral Moon Flower (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Fenty Beauty Diamond Milk (P, $21.00) is lighter (85% similar). MAC Like Venus (P, $20.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
I think both shades are prettier in person than in photos, as the shimmer shifts and reflects light in a more multi-faceted way. I wish Sephora had been clearer about the opacity of these (the description doesn’t really indicate whether they’re sheer or opaque), because it is always nice to set expectations prior to purchasing. They say these are just a holographic variation on their regular gloss line, which has always varied in consistency, but they have tended to call out their sheerer shades with some sort of description. If you like non-sticky, hydrating, and shimmery gloss and don’t mind sheerer coverage, these are fun, but if you prefer more opacity, I’d skip.

Love them! Dear Sephora, please make permanent!
I hope they do!
Wow, sparkles galore!!! I’m trying to use up some glosses, but Pretty Princess is now on my wishlist. It’s so stunning in the pic, I can only imagine seeing it in person
You’ll love it!
You mean these are LE? What??? Oh great, now I MUST get at least 1 or 2 of these, or I will be regretting it forever and ever. Now to figure out which one(s)…..
Ok, I just grabbed Pretty Princess & Good Fairy, got deluxe sample jars of SK II duo cream set (worth some $$$!) and new 500 pt reward, which includes that Josie Maran Illuminating Veil Highlighter you recommended. Can’t wait to try all this stuff!!!
This range certainly has really pretty shimmer effects and a nice price.
Agreed! They’re really comfy, too.
I was thinking of getting Queen Bee but now that I know it can shift to lavender I think I will pass. Thanks for your review Christine, it was helpful.
Happy to help, Deidre!
I have the one called Mermaid and I like it as a topper on dark taupe/ vampy purple lips :-))
Yay!
I’m loving the holographic sparkle in these.
Me too!
Queen Bee would look fantastic over a nude lipstick to amp it up, and give it a real twist! I love shades that do exactly that, because I have a few lighter nudes that don’t look quite right on me unless I do some serious tweaks to them: darker liner ala ombre, very iridescent lipgloss.
It does! It works over just about everything, I think.
Love the names of these 🙂 I don’t think that icy lavendery hue would look good on me though.
Layered, I bet you could wear it!
I’m sure this has already been pointed out but there’s a repeated error saying ‘Pretty Press’ instead of princess. Love the colours ?
Fixed, sorry!
I bought all of these except Queen Bee, because at the time, it seemed less crazy to buy only 3. Now I’m kicking myself. I have a makeup problem.
Join the club 😀
I think I prefer Pretty Princess but these just seem like something you buy a 12 year old girl.
Different strokes for different folks! I love these, and I’m far past 12, lol!
I like Pretty Princess. The ColourPop Blitzed Super Shock Shadow Set looks beautiful on you too.
Thank you, Valerie!
Ooh, the sparkles! Sooo pretty!!! The more you post these, Christine, the more and more I want them. I just love a sparkly gloss, whether sticky or not. Off to the check Sephora Australia for them! 😀
Fingers crossed Sephora Australia has ’em!
I love shimmery lips, I know I’ve said it before. I want both of them, so pretty. I tend to go between supershimmery glosses to really opaque lipsticks and everything in between. Makeup sure is fun!
These are great if you like super sparkly/shimmery glosses 😀
I have Pretty Princess and I love it! My preference with glosses is this so they’re perfect for me. The only negative thing I have to say is that there should be more shades and they should be permanent!
I wish these were permanent, too!
These look so cute! A bit too sheer for me but I do love me some glittery lipgloss! I like the really shimmery Dior lipglosses and the Bobbi Brown ones. They are really the only lipglosses that I wear- I’m a lipstick girl through and through. 🙂
They are soo shimmery! I’ve been wearing these whenever I have a moment to spare, lol!
I’m so glad you reviewed these! I was hoping to see them here, because it was impossible to pick between them on the website! I held off and I’m glad, now I know which ones to pick! 🙂
My pleasure, Bonnie!
