Sephora Peek-a-boo Pink (13) Ultra Shine Lip Gel
Sephora Peek-a-boo Pink (13) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a light, pink-peach with lighter gold pearl. It had sheer color coverage with noticeable pearl and some lightening of the lips. The texture was lightweight but somewhat milky, so there was some color that gathered in lip lines. Sephora Pink Dahlia (14) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a vibrant, fuchsia pink cream with slightly warm undertones. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly and fairly evenly. The consistency could have been more forgiving for lip lines, though I didn’t notice it from a normal viewing distance (but in the close-up, you can see what I mean). It lasted for four hours on me and was comfortable to wear. Jouer Rodeo (P, $17.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Kiss & Don't Tell (LE, $21.00) is lighter, cooler (95% similar). Formula Summary: It is supposed to be “inspired by gel nail polishes” with an “ultra-light” texture and hydrating formula. The range as of fall 2015 seems to range from clear to mostly opaque with a slight translucency that gives them a squishy, jelly-like look with the average shade between semi-sheer and semi-opaque. They’re lightweight, comfortable to wear, and mostly non-sticky. I haven’t noticed a taste, but there is a sweet vanilla, almost caramel-like scent (it is a little on the synthetic side, but I don’t notice the scent when I’m wearing it). Despite having a smoother, mostly non-sticky feel, the formula has decent wear time (three to five hours) and is hydrating. All in all, it’s a nice formula that outdoes a lot of the more recently released new gloss formulas on the market–and at a fraction of the cost–when the shade is more pigmented, but when it is sheerer (especially the lighter shades), there is often settling into lip lines. One thing to note, though, is despite seeming like quite a big tube of gloss, it contains only 0.11 fl. oz. It has an interesting hourglass-shaped applicator, where it is curved inversely and can fit the curve of the lip.

Wow, they’re beautiful glossies! I love pink!
Glad you like ’em, Claire!
How do these compare to UD’s Revolution lip glosses? Also, any plans to review Starlight?
They’re thicker, more gel-like than cream.
I don’t have Starlight! 🙁
Wow, these are so hit or miss. Everytime I see the display at Sephora, I get overwhelmed, and some of the testers are missing. So glad you are reviewing, as there are some real gems in this massive collection.
I feel like they need to better define their finishes 🙁
You’re wearing the PERFECT eye look to go with these lip gels. They all look gorgeous on you – particularly Pink Dahlia.
Aw, thank you Dawn!
Love these colors in general and on you. I already have UD Big Bang but would consider the other two. It looked like there were tiny gold flecks in the lightest color. So pretty.
Thanks so much, Susan!
Your coloring is made for many versatile products and colors. Your application, even problem products look great. Personally, I lobe Laura Mercir, UD Sheets and glosses and the Sephora brand. I’d say, over all are my favorites. I think from previous comments that it’s clear I’m not a fan of plaques and matte. Maybe a preference left over from the 60’s. Once a hippie, part remains a hippie even if we ‘re forced to grow up.
All are pretty! Pink Dahlia is my fave out of the bunch here. I forgot to mention in Free For Haul that you inspired me to purchase this formula in Lady Luck earlier this week . Tis’ a beauty!
Yay for Lady Luck 😀
All three are quite pretty in their own way. Peek-a-boo would be a lipstick topper for me, though.
I could see Peek-a-boo working well for layering!
Plum Fiction is really nice.
It is!
Even though I live Plum Fiction ( including its catchy Pulp Fiction reference! ), I just don’t know why, but I’m still more taken by UD Vice gloss?
The other two, Pink Dahlia & Peek-Boo-Pink, I’ve got dupes of at this time.
But a great big “Thank you” us in order, because you kept on bringing us the same ultra professional, accurate and detailed reviews and swatches that we’ve come to expect and appreciate all while you were dealing with an enormous move from the beautiful Bay Area in CA to AZ! I swear, I don’t have any idea how you managed this. Big kudos your way for this feat, one more reason WHY your blog is #1 .
Maybe Vice has a little more depth?
Thank you, Nancy! 🙂 I did do a bunch of extra posts prior to actually moving out of my old house, but we ended up closing a week early sooo I didn’t get to put up as many holiday palettes/reviews as I wanted. Next week, I hope to have it all back in order, lol!
But you pulled it off so seamlessly, that to be totally honest, I doubt whether any of us had any clue something like a full-scale MAJOR move was going on! You never missed a beat! ?
Thank you! That was my goal 🙂
Pink Dahlia is cute! Such an adorable pink.
It is pretty!
I think they are all pretty, but I don’t like when glosses falls into liplines, something I have a quite a few of, so the forst ones are a no, while the third, Plum Fiction is a big yes. I might even buy it, as I don’t think I have any glosses in a shade like this.
I do think it’s a pity with Peek-a-Boo, I love glittery, shimmery glosses.
I’m with you, Helene! Unless one wants them for layering, it’s a deal-breaker for me!
