Revlon Cherries in the Snow & Fire and Ice Melting Glass Shine Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Cherries in the Snow (004)
Revlon Cherries in the Snow (004) Super Lustrous Melting Glass Shine Lipstick ($9.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a raspberry pink with subtle, cool undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff that adhered evenly to my lips and skated across them as the product melted against the warmth.
The texture was creamy with moderate slip–it definitely had that ultra high-shine finish that looked wetter than it felt–and didn’t seem to emphasize my lip lines or lip texture. It wore nicely for four and a half hours but the glossy shine had worn down within two hours of wear.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to have "brilliant color with major payoff" with an "amazingly buttery feel that instantly melts onto your lips for glass-like shine." The coverage was more medium to semi-opaque, often buildable to a minor degree, so I don't know that I'd call it "major payoff," the coverage was noticeable and allowed for real differentiation from shade to shade as they weren't so sheer that they ran together.
The consistency has an incredibly creamy, smooth feel that definitely melts on the lips but seems to "set" subtly, which seemed to tamp down the slip slightly, though it was still moderately emollient on my lips. I'd recommend being more conscious of using one layer or so as it can be easy to over-apply due to how much it feels like it's melting against one's lips.
The finish was definitely glass-like; very shiny and gave the illusion of volume to my lips. I found that there was some color that settled into lip lines or caught on minor imperfections with some shades, though the shine made it harder to notice in person. I imagine if you like grab-and-go color that's glossy with medium coverage or greater color that's easy to apply and re-apply, this formula could be a match.
The formula had a subtle, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste. The biggest "con" to the formula was the packaging, which was industrially-wrapped with a very tacky sticker that was not just difficult to remove to open the lipstick to begin with but difficult to get all of the tackiness off. I'd recommend using a sharp knife/blade (safely!) to cut across the sticker, then twist the cap off rather than removing the sticker at all.

PPermanent. $9.99.
Fire and Ice (005)
Revlon Fire and Ice (005) Super Lustrous Melting Glass Shine Lipstick ($9.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium-dark coral-red with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips.
The texture felt soft, creamy, and had a melting effect on my lips, so be careful not to over-apply (just glides so easily!). It had an exceptionally shiny finish that nearly glowed, and despite the creaminess, it stayed in place and didn’t slide around during wear. The shine wore down within an hour or two, but the color lingered closer to four and a half hours, while the formula felt moisturizing over time.

Fire & Ice looks amazing! If I didn’t already have UD 100 Degrees, I would so buy this! In fact I think I like it more than 100 Degrees.
I do like Cherries In The Snow also, but I have L’Oreal Lacquered Strawberry, so I’m good in that department.
Never let good things die. Using these names/shades reminds us of what an institution Revlon is. Glad they are doing well in this latest formula.
I had the same thought. Classic names for classic colors in new finishes.
Yes! Revlon keepin’ it historical. Both look smashing on you too Christine!
Yes, very smart naming.
After the poll on how you organize your lipsticks… I better not buy any more lol! These are very beautiful though!
These are so pretty, but I know I won’t use them. Last time I went on a Revlon binge I wound up never using them and giving them away. I have a hard time reaching for Revlon when I have so many beautiful higher end shades.
Cherries in the snow was always a favourite. I wore it to death in my 20’s. I like this juicier iteration.
Gosh, these are names that bring me back to my teenage years in the 60’s…. they are still pretty good value too.
I was hoping these would rate well! I’m liking sheerer, bright shades more and more lately, and these have a great price point. I can’t wait to see how the others rate.
I’ve been a fan of Glass Shine formulas.
I bought the Cherries in the Snow and have to say it looked fabulous upon application but it was totally gone from my lips within 20 minutes. I reapplied three more times in an hour and gave up. The color left on my lips was patchy and uneven. I didn’t have anything to drink or eat, just talking and general wear. I would honestly go with the original of this shade.
