L'Oreal Amber Rush is a very warm-toned, medium-dark copper with a metallic finish. It is a permanent eyeshadow that retails for $7.99 and contains 0.12 oz.

Editor's Review

L'Oreal Amber Rush Infallible 24-Hour Eyeshadow ($7.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark, coppery brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation applied dry and more opaque coverage damp. The consistency was soft, loosely packed in the jar but more like a pressed eyeshadow than a loose one overall. It applied evenly to bare skin, blended easily along the edges, and stayed in place for 10.5 hours on me before starting to fade, though there was minimal fading from that point to 16 hours (when I removed it).

The formula is supposed to have "24-hour" wear with "intense, maximized color" and a "powder-cream texture." They are absolutely long-wearing, but testing for 24 hours is more than I'm happy to do more than very, very occasionally, though most showed some sign of wear between 12 and 14 hours of wear, so I used that to help determine an approximate wear time. The majority of the shades in the range are semi-opaque to opaque, buildable when not fully opaque, and soft, blendable, and easy to work with. The more shimmery shades tended to be the best and easiest to use while more matte and satin finish shades were not as consistent. You can view swatches of all shades here. I have applied them dry (left) and damp (right) as well.

P.S. -- I have reviewed most of these in the past, but it was years ago, and I felt like as one of the better drugstore powder eyeshadows on the market, it was time to repurchase them (to get the latest and greatest versions), re-photograph and swatch, retest, and re-review.

This is one of the most beautiful eyeshadows that I've tried. It's long lasting, crease resistant, and super pigmented. The only downside to this shadow for me personally is that it applies much better with fingers than with brushes, and sometimes I don't feel like going through that hassle.

Can we just take a minute to admire this eyeshadow?? Truth be told I'm a matte kind of girl but this is the holy grail of beautifully pigmented eyeshadows for the most reasonable price. I actually saw this eyeshadow on Pinterest being dubbed as the eyeshadow that makes any eye color pop- so I needed to take that challenge. Well, I'm not sure if that's true but holy Jesus is it beautiful. I prefer to apply prior to foundation/concealer due to fall out, with my morphe m124. It has to be "pressed" on then blended (or just pressed if you want the wow factor). When you apply it I promise the hallelujah chorus will happen and you will feel like a shimmering diva. 24hr? Ehhh maybe if you primed the daylights out of your eyes and used a ton of setting spray. 8-10hr day? Yes, most definitely. Absolutely worth every single penny.

I finally hit pan on "downtown" from my Kat Von D Ludwig palette and when that happened, i shed a tear. Why? because that color was my everyday color that made my eyes pop without very much effort and the ludwig palette has been "out of stock" on sephoras' website for ages. Thankfully Kat Von D's recent Saint palette has "downtown" in it but why spend $36 for just one eyeshadow if the rest seem "meh, ill never wear those?" yeah, you know the feeling. You've bought a palette before just because one eyeshadow was the bomb-diggity that you couldn't resist not buying it. Admit it. Back to the point, after hours of searching for a dupe, I finally found L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush. After purchasing it, i did a comparison with "downtown" from the ludwig palette on one eye and Amber Rush on the other; they were exactly alike! I did a little happy dance around my house because I saved $28 and I got more product than would come in a pan from the Kat Von D palette! Just to prove my point that they are identical: Right as my mom came home from running errands I asked her if my eyes looked different from each other. She said "ummmm is one eyebrow different than the other?" No. "Is your eyeliner different?" NO. Then I told her that the two copper eyeshadows were different brands and you should have seen the look on her face. She yelled "NO WAY?!! how did you find that? They look exactly alike!!" PROOF.
