L'Oreal 24HR Infallible Eyeshadows (Part 1) Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Amber Rush
L’Oreal Amber Rush Infallible 24-Hour Eyeshadow ($7.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark, coppery brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation applied dry and more opaque coverage damp. The consistency was soft, loosely packed in the jar but more like a pressed eyeshadow than a loose one overall. It applied evenly to bare skin, blended easily along the edges, and stayed in place for 10.5 hours on me before starting to fade, though there was minimal fading from that point to 16 hours (when I removed it).
The formula is supposed to have “24-hour” wear with “intense, maximized color” and a “powder-cream texture.” They are absolutely long-wearing, but testing for 24 hours is more than I’m happy to do more than very, very occasionally, though most showed some sign of wear between 12 and 14 hours of wear, so I used that to help determine an approximate wear time. The majority of the shades in the range are semi-opaque to opaque, buildable when not fully opaque, and soft, blendable, and easy to work with. The more shimmery shades tended to be the best and easiest to use while more matte and satin finish shades were not as consistent. You can view swatches of all shades here. I have applied them dry (left) and damp (right) as well.
P.S. — I have reviewed most of these in the past, but it was years ago, and I felt like as one of the better drugstore powder eyeshadows on the market, it was time to repurchase them (to get the latest and greatest versions), re-photograph and swatch, retest, and re-review.

Bottomless Java
L’Oreal Bottomless Java Infallible 24-Hour Eyeshadow ($7.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep brown with subtle, warm reddish undertones and very fine copper and bronze micro-shimmer. It had more of a satin-to-pearl finish–more of a sheen than a frosted shimmer. It had opaque coverage applied dry as well as damp, but the dampened application made the color appear deeper and richer. The eyeshadow felt slightly thinner and firmer in the pot compared to the more shimmery shades, but it was easy to apply to the lid and blend out. The color started to crease slightly on me after 14 hours of wear.

Bronzed Taupe
L’Oreal Bronzed Taupe Infallible 24-Hour Eyeshadow ($7.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark taupe brown with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It was intensely pigmented regardless of application method (dry or damp), and the consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable while still having that hybrid loose-pressed texture that the formula is famous for. The eyeshadow blended out beautifully on the lid and lasted for 16 hours with minimal signs of wear.

Continuous Cocoa
L’Oreal Continuous Cocoa Infallible 24-Hour Eyeshadow ($7.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a sooty, blackened brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. There was a touch of micro-shimmer in the pot, and I could see the effect faintly swatched, but on the lid, it performed and acted a lot like a matte finish eyehadow. It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage (up to mostly opaque) with a slightly dusty texture in the pot. It was fairly blendable but could have been easier to diffuse along the edges. It wore well for nine and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Endless Pearl
L’Oreal Endless Pearl Infallible 24-Hour Eyeshadow ($7.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft beige with warm, yellow undertones and a semi-matte finish. There seemed to be the slightest amount of sheen to the product, though it performed and looked more like a typical matte eyeshadow on the lid. It had good color coverage applied dry or damp, but the softer, looser consistency in the pot made it easy to adjust pressure and brush type for sheerer, buildable coverage if desired. This shade seemed to wear for a solid 10 hours before starting to fade, and it still had minimal fading after 16 hours of wear.

Iced Latte
L’Oreal Iced Latte Infallible 24-Hour Eyeshadow ($7.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a very light gold with warm, yellow undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had good pigmentation applied dry, though it was just shy of being opaque unless applied with a dampened brush. The eyeshadow felt soft, loosely packed in the pot but still felt more like a pressed eyeshadow to me. It applied evenly, blended out well, and stayed in place for 12 hours before starting to fade a bit, and after 16 hours of wear, it was still mostly intact for me.

Bronzed Taupe and Amber are really pretty. I’m interested, but the last time I tried a L’Oréal cream shadow, the product itself only last for maybe one month, if that before it completely dried out, even when tightly closed. Has anyone else had this issue?
These aren’t a cream – these are powder!
I’ve got a ridiculous amount of these Infallible eyeshadows! I love how they perform, but that whole lid, then stopper can make them less likely that I’ll reach for mine.
As for Continuous Cocoa, I really don’t like it as an eyeshadow, but it is my HG eyebrow powder! Glad I was not only able to totally repurpose it, but that it lasts even if I get soaked.
I know what you mean – it is a little more work to open and remove each of those stoppers! I am always tempted to recycle them, lol.
Thank you for the tip on using Continuous Cocoa for eyebrows. It looks so gorgeous in the pot, but makes my eyelids just seem dirty and uneven.
I’m going to give these another try. I tried these years ago when I first started with makeup and didn’t know how to use them. Amber Rush is beautiful.
I hope second time goes better for you, Erica! I think the key is knowing they’re a hybrid of loose and pressed!
Finally!! I have to say, that these shadows are some of my favorite of all time! They beat many high end, imo. Bronzed Taupe is my holy grail, most worn shadow, of all time. It stays ALL day and I get tons of compliments on it. I just love it and hope they never discontinue it or change the formula. I bought a backup just in case. I also enjoy Iced Latte and Amber Rush but Bronzed Taupe is definitely my favoriten❤️?
L’Oreal still has them on their site, but one weird thing I noted when I decided to repurchase them earlier this year (I think February-ish) was Ulta had none… I reached out to L’Oreal asking about it but they never responded.
Interesting. I know I still see them at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens who often have BOGO half off deals, etc. Hmmm, I may have to get a few more back ups, lol. I use Bronzed Taupe all over lid and Mac Soft Brown in crease. I repeat the same on the lower lid with Fiona Stiles pencil eyeliner in Carlyle (another absolute FAVE, which is being discontinued and is on Ulta site for 4.99, now). Mac Black Track in waterline and that is my winning everyday go-to combo.
Yeah, CVS/Walgreens have them online as well (I purchased them between the two sites), and L’Oreal has them on their official website – and they stll do three months later. Just so weird that they are MIA at Ulta!
I love to hear how others create eye combos! I’ve never paired Bronzed Taupe with Soft Brown but I have both and I’m going to give it a try. Thanks for the heads up about the Fiona Stiles liner too, quite the deal!
Do you use Soft Brown with Amber Rush as well?
Thank you for the post on these L’oreal Infallible 24 hour eye shadows. I stopped using some of these drugstore brands because they didn’t have the longevity to stand up to my oily lids and lately I have mainly stuck to higher end brands, but reading the favorable reviews on some of these will be having me give them a second look. Had always loved L’Oreal cosmetics, hope they continue with more long wearing products.
I think powder eyeshadow is still a weak point for a lot of drugstore brands (but there are some hits – just more misses to sift through), and these have been great and remain great, even four or five years post launch!
I have oily lids and these hold up great through 12 hour work days in dentistry. They are not really a powder but not a cream. It’s an interesting texture. Some shades better than others, obviously.
IDK, I know people love these and they scored well, but I’ve tried 2, have had no luck with them. Endless Pearl had no pearl whatsoever, was like any standard matte light vanilla shadow that I have 10 dupes of. And there was a beautiful green one, but it had massive fallout, even with primer and glitter glue. It’s too bad as some of the swatches look quite beautiful and price is right
Endless Pearl is less like the majority of the shades, and I’m not sure which green shade you’re referring to, but there is a silvery shade that was mostly sparkle and not a lot of base color that I’m aware of – so not every shade is a winner, but the majority have been for me!
I love these shadows with the possible exception of Iced Latte, which I hunted for and then finally found in the US but which, sadly, is just too frosty (and that’s saying something, coming from me!). I have Amber Rush and should wear it more but it’s not the most “natural” or “neutral” colour on me. I think my favourite shades are Gilded Envy, Bronzed Taupe and Tender Caramel.
Mine have never “dried out” and I’ve had some for years – since they first launched. As Christine said, these aren’t like the Maybelline Colour Tattoos – they’re not a true cream shadow but more of a pressed creamy powder.
I could see Iced Latte being a little much.
I ended up mixing it with Endless Pearl a bit to warm Endless Pearl up, as it runs a little stark on me!
That is really nice of you to retest those shadows Christine!
I never tried this formula and I have a bunch of color tattoos that I am working on.
I might get Bronzed taupe and Iced latte once I finish a few of the Maybelline cream shadows. A touch of matte shadow in the crease and I would a achieve a fast look for work or if I am in a hurry!
Great thing too that there often are deals with DS products ! ?
The Color Tattoos are another great product! 🙂
They sure are! I love their matte formula already repurchased a few ?. A lot of the shimmer ones are lovely too.
I purchased the Amber Rush Target online and it IS beautiful . It is so great I ordered one for my daughter with my next Target online order . It makes one’s eyes pop and for that price , it is a great deal .
That is awesome, Rob! 🙂
Iced Latte is one of my favorite neutral eyeshadows, both for the performance and for the fact that it matches the coat of a yellow Lab!
How do you like to use Iced Latte (or where on the eye)?
On the lid with a darker color, copper or brown usually, in the crease–I’m not very creative with shadow.
I have some of the Infallible 24-Hour Eyeshadows, I haven’t used them in years. They are stashed away in a shoebox, I think. I don’t have any of the ones from this post, and I am tempted by Bronzed Taupe.
I’ll just have to find my old ones and see if they are even useable.
I’m not even sure we have the same selection from the drugstore brands here as you have. A thing that’s always annoyed me.
I’ll check, just for fun next time I’m around a L’Oreal disk.
Time to dig them out!!
Bottomless Java and Bronzed Taupe are my personal favourites. I don’t know why L’Oreal hasn’t created a palette with these long standing successful eye shadows, the best they have ever created. I’m sure it would be a DS winner.
It just goes to show that they absolutely can make a stellar eyeshadow formula!
I wish they would go back to releasing seasonal shades.. I used to collect them.
It’s always weird when brands seem to abandon products that people LOVE from them 🙁
L’Oreal’s Infallible line is one of the best in drugstore makeup. Rarely does any product disappoint.
I wear Iced Latte quite a bit as a base shadow, it is very similar to my long time favorite Stila Kitten but with far less fall out. Amber Rush & Bronzed Taupe are long time staples too.
I was surprised that Endless Pearl was matte too! I bought it thinking it would be pearly in finish but it’s matte on my lids. It’s great as a base on my lids too.
Thank you for re-reviewing these Christine! Great drugstore eyeshadows are few and far between to find.
What are some of your must-haves from the other parts of the Infallible range?
Christine,
My other favorites in the Infallible range are-
8 HR Le Gloss- Yes, they are a bit sticky and thick feeling but they really do last longer than any other gloss & every shade is gorgeous! They’e improved the formula & flavor on this product a lot recently.
L’Oreal Paris Cosmetics Infallible Paints/Lips- longlasting, even pigmentation & great colors
Lacquer Liner 24H- Rivals Bobbi Brown’s iconic gel liner & lasts until you take it off
Infallible Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner- Best pen eyeliner in the DS, use this quite a bit in combination with the lacquer liner for Indian brides/Arabian eyes
Silkissime Eyeliner- the best DS pencil liner made, IMHO
Infallible Paints eyeshadow- Love this in Cool Ivory!
Love me some Infallibles. I have had success with 4 of 5 that I tried (miss was a green that was just wrong for my coloring) Of the ones in the review, I have Amber Rush which I am wearing today and is my one and done since I can make it look like two colors by blending out The crease. Leans pink on me but so lovely. Also have endless pearl, which has grown on me the more I use it. Most often, I use it all over the lid with Mac Carbon smudged out on the lash with a gloss on my lips for my “no makeup, makeup” look or with red lips and dramatic lashes for a classic beauty look. But it also is great for blending out less stellar eyeshadows or create cohesion in multi color looks.
Want to add the Taupe cause it is gorgeous but I have an UD and Maybelline dupe that I need to pan first… And now, I’m looking a cocoa for my brows bc of Nancy T’s comment above. Sounds brilliant to me!
Amber Rush really is a chameleon!! It can look lighter and darker so easily.
I love the ones I own-Endless Sea, Golden Emerald, Amber Rush, and Eternal Sunshine. After seeing your review and swatches I’ll pick up Bronzed Taupe the next time they have a BOGO at the drugstore. In addition I’ll pick up L’oreal’s liquid glow illuminator, it’s quite good for DS. I brought the gold next I want to try the rose.
I hope you can try Bronzed Taupe soon, Denise! I bet that will be gorgeous on you.
Just want to say that I appreciate you taking the time to revisit these, especially when it would seem that there is pressure on bloggers to focus on the newest and most hyped up releases in order to drive traffic! 🙂
I usually have a few permanent/old things in the queue at a given time – it’s only when there’s a lull between the new/LE madness that I get a chance to write reviews, though, lol!
Bronzed Taupe is so pretty. But I did notice a lot of fallout from the Infallible range. The creasing could be controlled but the fallout is insane for me!
Oh no! Which shades did you have fallout with?
I’m going to have to get Bottomless Java, I like it a lot.
I used to use Amber Rush a lot when I first starting makeup, but then somewhere along the way I stopped reaching for it. So, I ended up giving it to my younger sister who uses it more often, I even ended up getting her a back up.
At least it went to good use!
I remember owning alot of these but I gave them away due to the dry out factor. The new Mono eyeshadows replaced them for me. 😉
Endless Pearl and Amber Rush were some of my favourites. 😉
I’m surprised they dried out on you! Even my original ones seem totally fine, though these are photos + tests of actual product purchased this year.
I have Bronzed Taupe and Iced Latte, they pull really warm on me.
Bronzed Taupe is utterly gorgeous.
Christine, how would you say these compare to the Armani Eyes to Kill line? I’ve heard they’re a dupe, but wasn’t sure if that’s just a rumor :/
They are very similar – I find L’Oreal’s to be less nuanced in overall color selection but the wear/application is very similar.
