The pigmentation was semi-opaque in a single layer, and it did not seem to build up much beyond that--it was never full coverage. The lipstick felt smooth, velvety, and thin without being clingy as it skated across my lips with ease. The color went on evenly and stayed on well for six hours, though it felt non-drying over time.
