Pat McGrath Secret Lover, Sunset Rose, Wicked Whisper LUST Lip Glosses Reviews & Swatches
Secret Lover
Pat McGrath Secret Lover LUST Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and golden shimmer throughout a cream-like finish. The consistency was smooth, gel-like, which gave it a plusher, more cushion-y feel, and felt non-sticky. It had nearly opaque pigmentation–as described–that covered my lips evenly and smoothed out most of my lip lines. It wore well for five hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview
$30.00/0.15 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "multidimensional shine" with a "non-sticky texture" that "nourishes" with "exceptional adherence." The opacity ranges from "opaque to transparent." The color coverage really does vary quite a bit, but most of the shades I've tried are sheer to medium in coverage--the brand could be clearer on which shades are opaque.
The consistency has a smooth, lightweight texture that wasn't tacky and was comfortable to wear. For the most part, they didn't seem to sink into my lip lines, which can be a pitfall of gloss. I didn't find the wear time to be better than average--three to four hours--but the formula was moderately hydrating. There was a subtle vanilla scent but no discernible taste when worn.

Sunset Rose
Pat McGrath Sunset Rose LUST Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium coral with warm undertones and a moderate amount of gold sparkle. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which was close to as it was described (“medium”), that applied fairly evenly but a bit of product sat in my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The gloss had a lightweight, gel-like consistency that was comfortable to wear and non-sticky. It stayed on nicely for four hours and was hydrating over time.

Wicked Whisper
Pat McGrath Wicked Whisper LUST Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium peachy-coral with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which wasn’t quite the full coverage anticipated, that adhered with minimal streaking, but there was product that sat in my lip lines, and it did not appear as smooth as most shades in the range. The texture was non-sticky, smooth, easy to spread, and comfortable to wear as it felt plush without being heavy. It stayed on well for four hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Secret Lover is on my list to get! :o) So pretty!
Thanks for the amazing swatches, as always, Christine. Just received Secret Lover and Sunset Rose from my recent Sephora order and I love them both. Secret Lover reminds me of a more subdued version of ABH’s St. Tropez with much less golden shimmer. I just love glosses in that color family. These are my first foray into PMG and I’m impressed so far.
Happy to hear the glosses are working well for you so far, Alison!
Secret Lover is my idea of PERFECTION in a gloss. Which my UD Beso *would* have been if not for it having that infernal sodium saccharin added to it! I’d hand off Beso to my 30 y.o. daughter, but she has a milder version of the same allergy. Oh well. I am going to buy Secret Lover, though.
Possibly Sunset Rose down the road, too. First, I’ll have to use up Fenty Fu$$y.
Not surprising I love all of these shades. Put rose in anything and I am all over it, even if it is just the shade name! I am not a gloss wearer but I do love this formula so will likely pick one up the next time I am in Seattle.
What makes this formula stand out for you, Deborah?
I am not much of a gloss wearer normally, but I find this formula to be very comfortable and forgiving, to wear. It has a certain heaviness, for lack of a better word, that means it clings to my lips but is not sticky or too slippy. It has a fuller texture. A lot of glosses travel in my lip lines and these do not. They tend to make my lips look less wrinkled, smoothing over the wrinkles that I do have.
Secret Lover and Sunset Rose are very pretty. Secret Lover is right up my plum alley but I do wonder how it would look on me because I don’t put it on to that same full thickness. Would it still look nice enough that I’d consider it worth it to pay the PMG price? It’s hard to know.
I think Secret Lover is beautiful.
Some(a good many) of the Sidney Grace shadows are not available. I’m trying to add to my collection and I’m see so many I would purchase if they were for sale. Did they send you the set or have you been collecting for a long time?
