BUXOM Dolly Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blush Review & Swatches
Dolly
Buxom Dolly Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blush ($22.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a soft, medium plum with warm, rosy undertones and a satin sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a soft, velvety consistency that was a smidgen powdery in the pan but had a flattering, natural finish on my cheeks. The blush applied evenly and diffused easily along the edges for a seamless blend. It wore well for nine and a half hours on me before fading slightly and was still mostly intact after 12 hours of wear.

Formula Overview

The powder blush is supposed to have "12-hour wear" thanks to the "primer-infused" formulation that is supposed to "seamlessly blend" with a "luminous finish." It is scented with a "subtle, beachy scent" (it smells a bit like coconut and suntan lotion... aptly described a"beach," but wasn't a scent I detected much on, though my sense of smell has been dulled down lately). Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation--and some where intensely pigmented to the point where the warning "use with a light hand" comes into play--with soft, finely-milled consistencies that were a little dusty in the pan.
The finish varied from satin to more pearlescent, and one shade has larger sparkles to it, so you'll want to pay attention to the finish of a particular shade if you are particular about the level of shine/shimmer in your cheek colors. I noticed that most of the shades applied darker and richer on my skin, both my forearm as well as my cheeks, than they appeared in the pot. The blushes blended out well and lasted between nine and 11 hours on me--definitely a bit longer wearing than average. They looked smoother and were more forgiving of skin texture when worn on bare skin than the average powder blush, too.

What do you think is ‘primer-infused’ about this….anything, or gimmick? ‘Mostly intact 12 hours’ is pretty good.
It’s supposed to be longer-wearing it seems, which was accurate – still pretty visible after 12 hours is definitely of the good!
This formula sounds really interesting and promising. I think I’ll probably purchase one of these, but only one (I really do not need any more blushes).
Well, hello Dolly!
What a perfect rosy cheek shade. As I had suspected it would indeed be. Been hearing about how this formula packs quite a powerful pigment punch, I’m now a believer!
Thanks for the thorough and amazing review (as always!)! 🙂 . If you don’t mind my asking: what step came right before you put on this blush: Was it liquid foundation, powder, etc.? I just got this blush, and I wasn’t sure what step in the routine it should be. 🙂
I applied it on my bare cheeks for the photo and for testing (I put foundation around the area but not under it for photos). I would normally apply it over liquid foundation or over setting powder (I tend to powder first then apply for more matte finishes).
Thank you for your review! I’ve been waiting for your thoughts on this launch 🙂 Keeping my fingers crossed about the rest of the colors! (no pressure haha)
I am very curious about this formula and will likely pick up one in the future. This is quite a lovely shade but I have 3 dupes so probably won’t be this shade. It looks super pigmented.
I love Nars Isadora but it hard pans on me no matter which brush I use. I might have to try this since you say they’re similar.
Thanks!!
At last a real blush, not a highlighter/blush and this looks to be quite a promising product. I do hope they bring out a peach shade without the orange undertones.
Christine, did you notice the scent on this linger? That’s what held me back in store.
In the formula overview: “It is scented with a “subtle, beachy scent” (it smells a bit like coconut and suntan lotion… aptly described a”beach,” but wasn’t a scent I detected much on, though my sense of smell has been dulled down lately).”
Oops, can’t read apparently – I ctrl + F’d and everything. Sorry!
All attributes that are more generalized to the formula, not a specific shade, e.g. smell, are going to be under “Formula Overview.” You have to click the tab “Formula Overview” to view this info! It’s right under every single shade’s respective review 🙂 This way I’m not spending time trying to the same thing six times and taking up space for those who already read through it once!
Christine what is your favorite blush formulation? I’m on the hunt for a new bright blush for spring and summer, I love this color but I’m so sensitive to scents.
Marc Jacobs Air Blush!
Your reviews and swatches were so helpful with these. Very pretty and not powdery.
