NYX Buzzkill, Pure Society, Acme Liquid Suede Metallic Mattes Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Buzzkill
NYX Buzzkill Liquid Suede Metallic Matte ($7.50 for 0.13 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia with cool undertones and flecks of sparkle over a satin sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, and the thin, moussy texture made it easy to spread the product across the lips without the color pulling into lip lines. It wasn’t particularly metallic, though. This shade wore well for six and a half hours and was lightly drying.
The formula is supposed to be “plush and vibrant” with a “pigment-rich” liquid consistency and an “ultra-metallic” finish. The majority of the shades were semi-opaque to opaque in color coverage with the consistency being fairly mousse-like, so the product felt lightweight and spread well but didn’t run or get on the teeth easily. Some shades were more metallic from the get-go while others seemed to get more metallic after rubbing or patting lips slightly. They dried down to a transfer-proof finish but felt ever-so-slightly tacky at times. Based on the shades I’ve tested for wear, they are lasting between five and seven hours and are lightly drying. Between the metallic finish and the dry down, sometimes they seemed to emphasize lip lines and lip texture.

Pure Society
NYX Pure Society Liquid Suede Metallic Matte ($7.50 for 0.13 fl. oz is a deep plum with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good color payoff, though it was not opaque in a single layer. The liquid lipstick had a thin, mousse-like consistency that was airy and spreadable without being watery or overly fluid. It was easy to work with, but the dry down did seem to emphasize the texture of my lips slightly. This shade stayed on well for six hours and was lightly drying after five hours of wear.

Acme
NYX Acme Liquid Suede Metallic Matte ($7.50 for 0.13 fl. oz.) is a rich, pinky-red with subtle, cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that covered the lips with even, smooth coverage. The consistency was lightweight, thin but not watery as it had more of a mousse feel. The color stayed on well for six hours and was lightly drying after four hours of wear.

Oooh these are scoring quite well. Pure Society is my fave here!
They are on the drying side, but they wear fairly well and are quite pigmented!
Buzzkill is so pretty, though I agree that the metallic finish is much more subtle than I had anticipated.
Buzzkill is cool!
Acme is beautiful and I don’t have any dupes. Looks like it isn’t as easily duped as some others. I saw these in the drugstore in Missoula when I last went to town but was in a rush and didn’t stop to check them out. I will have to make sure to check them when I go in again. I really love this one.
There definitely aren’t as many matte metallic kind of shades released yet!
Funny, out of all the metallic liquid lipsticks that have come out over the last two or so months, these $7.50 ones seem to be some of the best!
NYX knows their stuff!
These all looked so nice in your sneak peek. I love to see budget brands get good reviews. I had been wondering if they wore down evenly as they faded, maybe to a stain, or did the middle wear off first leaving an outer kind of ring. Unfortunately this seems to happen to me with the few liquid lippies I have. I’m sure you would have mentioned that if it happened to you. Lipsticks also tend to wear much longer on you then me.
I love the color of Buzzkill, though it is probably the least metallic one in the collection. I have close dupes for the other two, but I’ll have to double check about Buzzkill, it’s such a face brightening type shade. Very flattering.
For me, they wore down evenly – I mean, a lot were going pretty strong when I went to remove and didn’t have a faded look at all. Even one that seemed (or felt like it was flaking), wasn’t actually flaking off.
These are stunning colours for a DS brand and they are rating really well. I love the Pure Society shade.
They are very lush colors!
These just sing out ‘autumn’ to me! It may be 100* here but at least I can live vicariously through my makeup. Adore each of these!
I know exactly what you mean – they are very autumnal shades!
I’m so glad I bought Acme and I can’t wait to try it!
Let me know how you like it, AJ!
Will do! I think I am going to wear it tomorrow. A friend of mine just posted a pic of herself wearing it and it looks great on her!
Favorite one out of this set kind of had me surprised at myself; Acme! Awful name, though. Sounds too much like “acne”. Yuck. The shade itself is bomb though!
I kept thinking cartoons when I read acme!
That too! Plus an old foodstore chain back in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states that was named Acme!
Hey Nancy, Acme is still around, they actually just semi-recently bought up a bunch of A&Ps around here (NY, NJ, CT) when A&P went under. But I always think of Loony Toons cartoons when I hear “acme,” so the idea of my local grocery store now being named Acme kinda weirds me out, lol. I think they got their name because a definition for “acme” is the highest point or the best something can be, so they think they’re the best grocery store (they’re not, haha.) But I think NYX might’ve been inspired by the red dynamite sticks ;-P
I’m soo very happy NYX is doing Metallic Liquid lipstick as well at the drugstore level.
These all look VERY nice formula wise. Love the fact the red is called ACME. 😉
They are! I wasn’t quite sure they would dry down entirely like most liquid lipsticks, so I’m glad they were pretty transfer-proof!
And more transfer proff than the original LIQUID SUEDE formula as well.
NOOOO, why do you have to be drying!
Wow, these look really pretty! loving the look of pure society the most. And can I just say I really appreciate how detailed your reviews are <3 – I always check here before buying anything! Also really curious how these hold up in terms of formula to the Milani Amore Metallics Lip Crèmes- I saw your swatches but their shades are so similar I can't decide which ones to pick up. Any thoughts or plans to review those?
These are so pretty! I wish I liked matte lipsticks, but I need some shine to distract from my dry lips. I wonder how they’d look/wear with a clear gloss on top.
Pure Society is a unique shade! Looks really neat on the lips!
